How did we get here? How has the division of this country gotten worse? I have been writing, researching and writing this blog for over a year and a half. I have discovered many things that I did not know before but I have come to some conclusions that have shaken my faith in America. The lying and misinformation that has meant to weaken our nation has done just that, weakened our nation and that there are many Americans that would rather live in a weakened America as long as it is a White Republican America. Can anyone deny that all the misinformation has divided America? Who benefits by a weakened America? Certainly not America? How can you have a united America when half the country will not even try and look for the truth? They are very happy wallowing in their hate. The problem is that hate can never unite us. That is why the misinformation is so important. It is meant to keep us divided. A divided America is a weakened America.

 I was told by a Twitter user that there was a misinformation agency under Homeland Security that is staffed by the administration in power and that was true government overreach. Well, I just had to Google that. Now there is the Disinformation Governance Board that is an advisory board to Homeland Security. Its function is to protect national security by disseminating guidance to the DHS on combating foreign misinformation and disinformation. Makes sense to me. Misinformation from foreign governments is a fact. Could there be overreach? You bet there could be overreach but not as much overreach that has been occurring ever since 9/11 and even before that. Our Government and the NSA has been spying on our own citizens for quite some time so please excuse me if I don’t care that you are all of a so sudden concerned. There are people and I am one of those people that believe the Russian misinformation attack on our electoral process was as bad as anything since Pearl Harbor. It was a direct attack on our democracy.

Now we have known that our electoral process was being compromised back in 2016. The Obama administration knew. Every agency from DHS to the CIA and all the other letters of the alphabet knew. Our Democracy was attacked then and it is still being attacked now. The Department that has done the least has been in my opinion is the Department of Justice. Whether you are a Republican, Democrat, Independent or a member of any other party the fact that this happened and nothing was done should to be alarming. It is alarming to me. Our Country should be more important that any one political party. I have gotten in trouble for saying that Obama didn’t do enough and I am sure I am getting in trouble again. He did not do enough to protect our election process but he should have done more. He knew and did virtually nothing. Trump benefited from that interference and every security agency knew it. To Hillary’s credit she knew it too but did not pull a Trump and say that the election was rigged. Maybe the country would have been better off if she did. It would have brought more of this to light. We could not undo that election but we could protect future elections. Trump did nothing. In fact he did worse than nothing he lied and called our intelligence agencies liars. He had a chance to look like a savior of democracy but he couldn’t do the right thing. Mitch McConnell even blocked legislation that would have helped make our elections more secure.

During 2016 a former member of MI6 investigated the Russian interference in our election. That document was discredited because Steele, the man doing the investigation, was being paid by supposedly the DNC and the Hillary Campaign. Now that leaked Steele Dossier has been called fake news by Trump and of course the Kremlin.  When Steele was doing his investigation he went to MI6 and the FBI with what he had found because it was so alarming not the Democratic National Committee. In reality nothing seems to have been debunked about the Steele Dossier. If anything it looks more and more real. Trump trying to weaken NATO. Russia invading Ukraine. Putin needed Trump more than we did that’s for sure. If Trump was still in office Ukraine would have already fallen and then who would be next. Trump’s America First was turning our backs on our Allies. Who benefits from that? Putin. A weakened European Union, who benefits from that? Putin.  Putin had more to gain from Trump than anyone. Where in any of this did America have to gain? I for one do not feel America gained a single thing from the Trump presidency that can overcome the hate that it caused.  Is this the time that history will point to as for the beginning of the dismantling of our democracy?

During this whole time our Department of Justice has not done very much. I guess it is not illegal to collude with a foreign power to interfere with our elections, to divide and weaken our nation. There could not have been as much Russian interference without people running interference for them here in America. We now have a Conservative packed Supreme Court because our Department to Justice has done nothing. It is one thing to have Conservative Justices; it is another thing to have ones that don’t believe in the Constitution. After witness how our Constitution has been dismantled by the conservatives I fear for the future on our democracy. Separation of Church and State has no meaning. The 2nd amendment has been so twisted that the original intent of the Amendment has long been forgotten. The right to vote? Gerrymandering is voter suppression. The court wouldn’t even look at that. Women’s right to equal pay is nonexistent. Women’s rights over their own body do not exist anymore. Don’t say gay is a violation of everyone’s free speech but what the hell. As long as we can lie on Twitter all it good. Lying and misinformation is protected but historical truths must be hidden because it offends White People.

This all started because our Department of Justice did not do their job and protect the nation from the insurrection from within.

  We are a fascist state when we have ICE agents not in uniforms and hiding their faces behind masks. That is right. We have a law enforcement agency that is running around more like the Gestapo of Nazi Germany than what we are supposed to have and what is valued in America. We are sending not only undocumented immigrants but also asylum seekers and foreigners on student visas to detention camps here and on foreign soil. They are just being snatched off the streets with no due process. This is not the America I grew up in. This is nowhere to be found in the religion I learned and practiced in my youth.
