We need to end party politics We need to end party politics. We need to end this name calling that just divides us more. Division just makes us weaker as a nation and our enemies stronger. If we want to continue being the leader of the free world we need to unite as a nation and quit fighting among ourselves. If one party main purpose is trying to make the other party look bad and not moving forward we have a problem. I am not a democrat but used to think of myself as a republican. I have a hard time voting for a republican right now because of my old time republican beliefs. I am tired of someone saying, “ liberal” like it is a dirty word. I do not hear conservative being brandished in the same manner. You know why? Because there are actually some conservative democrats. If the idea is to obstruct the other party, as Mitch McConnell has bragged, then you are not trying to move the country forward. Debate is a good thing and he does not bring things that congress has passed to the flo
Masks Most everyone has seen that interview of the Trump supporter wearing a mask and being asked if he is pro life. He is asked why he is not wearing a mask and he says personal choice. I found interesting like a lot of people that a mask was a personal choice but pro choice was not. Masked save lives. My wearing a mask may not save my life from someone not wearing a mask but my wearing a mask will save someone from me if I have Covid 19. It is all about caring about the person next to you and wanting to conquer this virus. Trump says that people can get covid wearing a mask and he is right. But if both people are wearing a mask the odds of it spreading is greatly reduced. It is that simple. We cannot go back and correct all the mistakes that occurred in February but we have to stop repeating them. I read a story about 2 hairdressers in Missouri that both had covid. They both wore masks and the 140 customers wore masks and not a single customer came down with covid. Read tha
Politics today are confusing.     Politics today are confusing. I was watching a Trump campaign advertisement about Social Security. Here was this ad with this nice senior citizen telling us how Biden was going to cut her Social Security and cut her Medicare. I thought that this was a little bit of a stretch so I googled Biden and Social Security. I think that under Biden these two programs are safe. He did take a fiscally conservative approach in the 80s with cuts in the cost of living adjustments to help the deficit but overall, I think the programs would be pretty safe under him. Now Social Security and Medicare have always been paid for with a separate tax. Trump I believe has proposed eliminating the Social Security and Medicare tax and just have the money come out of the general fund. That raised a lot of red flags to me. The first one is what would happen to all the money that I had put into it? Would it just go into the general fund too? This started me to think about
Why I vote still. In my last blog I stated on how as an independent voter I have a tendency to vote against something that I find to be offensive. That is still true especially with all the stuff that went on with the debate. I think that the President has a real future with the WWF. There are things that I do support and will vote for and here are some of them. I will always vote for inclusion in the election process. The more people that vote the better off the process is. The first election I voted for was in 1980. Of course the big election was Reagan against Carter and I will tell you I voted for Reagan. There was another important race that day and that was the Mayor race of Saftig vs. Balotti in my home town of Kenosha WI. Now it was 7:00 and the polls are going to close at 8:00. Now I had never voted before and I wasn’t even registered. I walked to the polls and registered right there at the polls. It was a very easy process and I should have done it long before that. Wel
