I Could Be Wrong.

  Another politician has been caught lying to get elected. George Santos has been caught lying about pretty much about every part if his life, where he went to school, and where he worked. He even lied about his being Jewish. If you read about the guy you will see that he embraces the truth about as much as Trump does. The more I read about him the more I can’t understand why anyone would vote for the man. It looks like he is even wanted for fraud in Brazil. George Santos said that his grandparents were Jewish Ukrainian immigrants that had to escape persecution in the Ukraine is just an outright lie. He says that he is gay. He may be. There are conservative gays. It just makes everything that he says suspect. He has stated that his mother died in the Twin Towers on 9/11. She died of cancer in 2016. This was just another lie. He lied to just get votes. More and more I see that the candidate, and what he really is, means absolutely nothing to the Republican voter. All that matters is tha

  Accountability for the people that caused the insurrection has been pretty high on my list of things that we need in order for our Republic to survive and prosper. The thing is, holding the people involved in the insurrection accountable is not the only thing that we should be concerned about. The weather is in the news big-time again, we have had record low temperatures around a lot of the nation. This is the time of year when the climate change deniers open the door and say, “What are they talking about with this climate change?”. Even with the great extremes in temperature our planet is getting warmer. That is a fact. In doing my research I was amazed to find out there are many more deaths cause by the cold than caused by the heat. In fact, the numbers are not even close. In this last storm there are now 52 weather related deaths and it is not over yet. Climate deaths will continue to increase.   We are approaching the New Year, 2023. I was born in 1953 so that tells you I have seen a lot of history. Eisenhower to Biden and everyone in-between. With everything that I have seen I just don’t understand what is going on. Since the 70s the price of gas has been going up with the whims of the oil companies and with the politics of the Middle East. People are acting like what happened with the price of gas was something that was caused by Biden. I don’t like being held hostage by oil companies and foreign countries that don’t really like us but this is not a new development. It has been happening most of my lifetime. What is a new development is the use of Social Media, mainly Twitter, to allow politicians like Jim Jordan to lie to the American People. The lying is going unchecked and it is going to get worse.   All the January 6 th hearings are now over. For the first time in our history criminal charges have been referred to the Department of Justice by a Congressional Committee on a former President of the United States. I have a lot of different emotions that are running through me right now. One emotion I am not feeling is one of celebration. I find that there is not much to celebrate about the last 7 years that Trump has commanded the attention of the nation. As a nation we have become more and more divided because of one man, Donald Trump and criminal referrals will not change that. Don’t get me wrong I thought they should happen too but it is a sad day for our nation. What we saw presented by the committee was mostly a rehashing of what we had already seen but a review was a good thing to do.   As my wife and I were driving home today from having breakfast we were approaching the intersection of Bass Road and Gladiolus here in Fort Myers. The light turned yellow way before we got to the intersection and of course my wife stopped for the red light. The driver behind us threw up his hands and you could tell he was pissed. He wanted us to blow through the red light so he could blow though it also. If my wife would have run the red light, by theory, if a police saw her she should be given a ticket let alone the car behind us that would have also run the red light. What I have learned in my three and a half years here in Florida I have noticed is they don’t seem to enforce many of the traffic laws. The speed limit on McGregor by my condo is 45 mph. When I am doing 55 mph I am being passed like I am holding up traffic. And turn signals? Here in Florida I don’t even see the police use turn signals.   Is cheating just a way of life today in America? I was reading a story about a Florida Minister and his son being arrested for taking millions dollars of PPP money but using the money to buy a mansion in Orlando. We had a roofer here in Southwest Florida that took money and bought himself a 650,000 dollar Cat Boat. I know a private boating club that took their PPP money and put in a new patio with it. This is money that was supposed to help companies and organizations make their payroll so their workers didn’t have to suffer during Covid. Brett Favre was involved with taking money meant to go to the poor and have a Volley Ball Facility built at his alma mater. He also took millions for speaking engagements that he never did. He paid that money back but he is still walking around free. Why? Is it because he is a big football hero? Is it because he is rich? If it was me or some other poor smuck we would already be in jail.   I saw a tweet from Elon Musk that stated “Today’s Pronoun: Prosecute Fauci”. To me that is like yelling “FIRE” in a movie theater where there is not a fire. The courts has already stated that is not part of free speech and I feel that Musk’s statement to calling to “Prosecute Fauci” is the same thing. What crime did Fauci commit? He did his job and he saved millions of lives. Covid is still killing people around the world and I am one that thinks if we would have listened a little bit more to the science and a little less to the lying and misinformation there would be a lot more people alive today. In the United States alone over one million people have already died. Fauci’s recommendations changed as we learned more about the disease. That is what science does. It studies and learns and it evolves. Fauci has been a great American and demonizing him for political reasons is what is wrong with our political system.   Kyrsten Sinema has stated her intention of leaving the Democratic Party and becoming an Independent. I really don’t have a problem with her becoming an Independent it is just the timing of it that has bothered me. She didn’t run as an Independent when she ran for election. She made promises to the people that supported her and voted for her. She let the Democratic machine support her very heavily with time and money. If she really didn’t want to be a Democrat then she should have said so from the beginning.   Her approval rating among Democrats in Arizona is bad. Her approval rating among Independents is bad.   The headlines read that Trump has called for the termination of the Constitution. Trump is saying that and a whole lot more. “A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great ‘founders’ did not want, and would not condone, False and Fraudulent elections.” What does Trump want? He surely does not want to be President of the United States. That person is elected by the people according to the rules of the Constitution that he wants to dismiss. He uses word like False and Fraudulent with nothing to back those words up.   For the last couple of days I have left the warmth of Florida for the frozen tundra of Wisconsin. Not really to Green Bay but to Racine Wisconsin. It is early December and this time of year like most times of year in Wisconsin the temperature will fluctuate. In December it is common for it to fluctuate from the 20s to the 50s and so it has this weekend. When it is in the 20s you hear people say “What do they mean with this Global Warming garbage”. When it is in the 50s people will say “look how warm it is, Climate Change is real”. In many places of the country the way we judge Climate Change is by opening the door and not listening to the science. The reason why I am in Wisconsin is to watch my 16 year old grandson play basketball and my 14 year old granddaughter cheerlead. The grandson plopped in 15 points and had about 7 rebounds so I was one happy camper and my granddaughter did a great job helping leading the cheers.   Living in Florida I have heard some pretty ridiculous things by people that are stating unproven boasts, or let’s say boasts that can be proven as not true. Why do people come to Florida? The Attorney General of Florida says it is because they, the State, have the people’s back. Other States are taking away people’s freedom so they are flocking to Florida. Now, I am one of those people that moved to Florida three and a half years ago and Florida having my back never entered my mind. In fact I find that statement to be completely ridiculous.
