I Could Be Wrong.

  When will old men stop fighting wars with the young bodies of other people’s sons and daughters? That is the question that I have been asking for over 20 years. That is also a question that is pretty much a question that has no answer. I posted that question on Facebook and one of my friends came back with when they start having the minimum draft age of 55 years old. Won’t happen, but it is funny in a sad way. Old men have been fighting wars with other people’s young sons and daughters for centuries. Maybe for as long as man has walked this Earth. Show me a war when it wasn’t true. Also for as long as man has been walking this Earth the people that are doing the fighting will not be the ones that win anything. It is always the old men that sent them. It is also always the old men that profit from it, never the soldier. The soldier’s job is to fight and die for some unknown person or group that has something to gain from the violence.   It was 19 years ago the United States invaded Iraq. President Bush at the time had a handful of excuses that were not true. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Iraq was not harboring terrorist. I will always remember Bush saying that “You are either with me or against me”. What he was doing in my opinion saying that if you did not support him you were a treasonous traitor. The majority did support him including Democrats. I think that many knew it was wrong did not want to look like they were not supporting our President.   I have been wondering for over five years how Americans could not be upset with the fact the Russians were trying to interfere with our elections. I am not talking about Trump colluding with the Russians I am talking about the fact that all of our Federal Agencies said that the Russians tried to influence our election. Why are people not upset? I am upset! I look across our northern border and realize that the reason   many Americans think it is acceptable for outside people to destabilize a government. In this case a Friendly government. American money is pouring into Canada to support the Trucker’s Protest that is trying to destabilize Canada. It makes me wonder if American money didn’t start the protests in the first place.   To hear Fox News and many Republicans the Canadian Truckers are hero’s fighting for Freedom. Does that surprise you? It doesn’t surprise me. Of course mostly white truck drivers protesting restrictions that are actually making people safe have to be heroes to people like Ted Cruz. Millions have died all over the world that shouldn’t have but what the heck? Let’s protest against the people that are trying to save lives. Public discourse is just fine as long as you are protesting against things that will save people’s lives. Mask mandates in schools? What save a child’s life? We can’t have the government protecting children. White truckers protesting for what they think is freedom and they are hailed as heroes. Black Lives protestors protesting for their freedom and equal rights are considered anarchists and thugs.   As I have said before, I live in Florida. We have many interesting politicians here in Florida but none are more interesting than Marco Rubio. Some are just as interesting like Governor DeSantis but I can’t say more. Rubio has lusted after the White House and I can only assume that he is still lusting after it. When I first heard Rubio talk I felt that there was some hope still for the Republican Party but as time has gone on I have realized that he is just a politician that will say anything to get elected and is willing to change direction one hundred and eighty degrees to gain votes.   When the Republicans and Trump are feeling a little bit of legal pressure they seem to always do one of two things. Attack Bidden for his son Hunter or they attack Hillary. We all remember Hunter’s laptop mysteriously traveling from California to New Jersey just so Rudy Giuliani could find it. They complain about whatever they can get the most mileage at the time. Right now it is Hillary’s turn. Hillary was accused of using a private email server during her time as Secretary of State for the Obama administration. I will tell you that I think that is wrong. She was investigated more than once for this offense by the FBI. In fact, right before the election James Comey reopened the investigation into Hillary’s emails then closing the investigation just days before the election hurting her chances of getting elected. The battle cry at the Trump rallies was “Lock Her Up”. I thought that was very inappropriate for Trump to allow that at the rallies but he also seemed to be encouraging th

  What has happened to the rule of the law in the United States? Are our elected officials not supposed to follow the rule of the law? We are not supposed to be a country that has a system where the nobility answers to different law than the serfs. In fact, we are supposed to be a country that doesn’t have nobility and serfs. Our Declaration of Independence states that all men are created equal. We are founded on equality as a guiding principle but now as a country we are not living it. We have a Constitution that is suppose to make sure the law and our form of Government is applied equally. The Constitution is not a political document and the people that have the duty to protect it should not use politics as a way of twisting it to one party’s advantage.   I used to think that there really was not much of a difference between the two political parties, the Republicans and the Democrats. I thought they differed on some things but mostly just listened to different lobbyists. I thought that basically they were all a little bit corrupt with their hands in the cookie jar. Well, their hands may be all in the cookie jar but what they believe in now is very different. I feel there is a distinct difference between the two parties that has grown since Newt Gingrich’s “Contract with America”. Maybe the differences were always there but I just didn’t notice them as much until Newt but because I had always voted Republican. I do believe that was one of the major changing points that drove me away from the Republican Party.   Our country is divided. I think that everyone can agree with that statement. Ask why it is divided as it is and you will get a lot of different answers. We are divided about education. We are divided about race. We are divided about climate change. We are divided about just about everything. Sometimes I think that we need to take a step back and think about not what is dividing us but who is dividing us. Growing up in the 50s and 60s there was no cable TV there was just the stations that you could watch with the antenna on the roof of your home. The main stations we could get ABC, NBC, and CBS and because I grew up close to Chicago we could get WGN. The news was just a half an hour of local news at 5:00pm and the network news at 5:30pm. We then had Local news again at 10:00pm. Most of the news we actually got was by reading the newspaper. Yes, most of us read our news from newspapers.   Every day you can turn on a TV or open a Newspaper and there has been another shooting. You have thousands of people wanting gun control and you have thousands of people wanting more guns and then the cycle repeats. Do you know what I think the definition of insanity is? It is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. When it comes to guns we are nuts and this is coming from a gun owner. A well regulated Militia , being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. That is the second amendment.   One subject that I think I write about too often is Race. The problem is that it has become a part of our everyday conversation and not in a good way. I would say that it has become part of our everyday life but I think it always has been.   In the news, Biden wants to appoint a Black Woman to the Supreme Court and you would think that the Earth is spinning off its axis or the moon is crashing into earth. Like there isn’t a Black Woman out there that is just as qualified as some of the Judges that are already sitting on the bench. I can assure you that there are probably a hundred Black female judges out that that are just as qualified as someone one like Bret Kavanaugh. The real problem? There are White people out there that will cry “reverse discrimination”. By stating beforehand that Biden would nominate a black women, just may sound like it is.   Trump is in the news again and again it is for promoting violence. At a rally in Texas he called the New York prosecutors and the Georgia prosecutors racists because they want to put him in jail. Of course only a Black racist prosecutor would want to put him in jail. None of the White prosecutors that want to put him in jail are racists, only the black ones. He wants the biggest protest ever in Washington DC, New York and Atlanta. You know what happened the last time he asked people to come to Washington DC. It is so interesting watching a white guy playing the race card like the only reason that they want to prosecute him is because he is white.
