I Could Be Wrong.

  Covid 19 has really exposed just how bad our healthcare system really is. How unprepared we were as a nation to take on a pandemic like this. Before it is over it will probably claim more than three quarter of a million people and we are lucky it could have been much worse. Our Federal Government was very ineffective to downright dishonest when it came to the virus. Luckily we had officials that tried to take the virus head on and they are the ones that have saved countless number of lives. Governors from both parties stepped up to try to combat the virus while our President lied and said it would just go away. The resistance that these Governors have met, mostly from the Republican Party and the far right, is just been appalling. Just the simple thing like wearing a mask has been met with a great amount of resistance. And the Church has been in the forefront of that resistance. Believe it or not I have always been a law and order type of guy. Today I fear that law in order to some of us is oppression.  There is a huge difference between law and order and oppression. People that protest are law abiding citizens. Even if they are screaming things that you find offensive they are still law abiding citizens. Colin Kaepernick when he kneeled during the National Anthem was a law abiding citizen. Our right to protest is guaranteed in the Constitution. The police should be protecting the protesters. The oppression of legal protestors so our president can have a photo op is wrong and I think there should have been people arrested for that. You cannot have law and order if some are above the law.  The right to loot and burn is not being a law abiding citizen and those people should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.   We now have a new President. Because I am retired I got to watch the Inauguration live for the first time in my life. It was sad because of the pandemic and the insurrection we could not have more pageantry. It is too bad that because one President had to take his ball and go home like an angry child I did not get to see the peaceful transfer of power that is supposed to happen.   Freedom, what is Freedom? I know what freedom was to our forefathers. It was the freedom to form our own government. As I have stated before that is what they fought for. Our Constitution is the result of that fight.   Pretty much every public official swears an oath to that Constitution. Someone has to show me were their freedom is being violated because of this election. Someone has to show me were their freedoms that are given by the Constitution are being taken away from you because of this election. Many people think that their freedom of speech is under attack.   What is a Conservative? That is the question that I have been asking myself for quite a while. I understand what a liberal is a little bit because of our fore fathers. They were some Very liberal young men that were very forward thinking. Some were liberal, middle age thinking men that were forward thinkers. Some were what you would consider liberal senior citizens of their time but still forward thinking. They believed in representative government and came up with a Constitution like no other on the face of the Earth at the time. Part of that Constitution was the Bill of Rights. It was written so all men had the same rights. Poor or rich, they were the same. It has been expanded through amendments to include not only all men but also all women. It has been expanded through amendments to include all races no matter what the color of your skin is or, your religion.   Our Capital was breached for the first time since the war of 1812. Most of the country is shaking its head in disbelief. The majority want Trump removed from office. What is amazing is a few of the law and order Republicans don’t. They say it will divide the country more. More? How can we be divided more? A mob of insurrectionist stormed the Capital and wanted to do harm to the Vice President and the Speaker of the House and probably any elected official that they could find. The motto for these people was “America First” when in reality it had nothing to do with America First. It was about White Supremacy and Fascism period, nothing more. The people that are not condemning the attack and not wanting to remove Trump are some of the same people that call Blacks the N word, Asian people gooks and Jew, kikes in the back rooms where they will not be seen and heard.   January 6th  a day that will live in infamy. Well, that may be a little strong but it is a day that will go down in history just like 9/11, Pearl Harbor and Kennedy and Lincoln’s assassination. This was a terrorist attack meant to over throw our U. S. Government. It is a horrible historic act that will go down in history as such. Patriotism is a word that you hear thrown around a lot. I know one person’s terrorist in another person’s freedom fighter. Now Patriots in 1776 fought for our freedom. But what was that freedom. Well I think that they wanted the freedom to form their own government after Britain denied them representation in theirs. They rebelled, wrote a declaration of independence and the after they won their freedom from Britain they were free to form their own government. That is the freedom that they fought and died for.   Well the election is over but the argument carries on. Biden won Trump lost and the country is still divided. Let’s hope it does not stay that way. Like a lot of people in this country 4 years ago I was shocked that we would elect Donald Trump as President. An admitted pussy grabbing man who bragged about going back stage at a Miss Teenage American Pageant to look at the girls in various stages of undress.
