I Could Be Wrong.

Here I am at the end of July 2021 and we are still arguing about wearing masks.  We have been given all kinds of information on a daily basis that is always changing. I remember they said that if we could get over 70 percent of population we may be able to reach herd immunity. I never thought that we would get to herd immunity. With all the resistance to even the virus itself, I knew it we would never reach our goal. When you have people dying and some of their last statements is I thought it was a hoax you have a definite communication and trust problem. Being from Florida I have never stopped wearing my mask where I thought it was appropriate. They have said all along that the vaccine would not stop me from getting the virus. They only said that if I did catch the virus that I would not get as sick and probably would not die. They did not say that we were immune. With that in mind I continued to wear my mask to the grocery store and other shopping places. I will tell you right now

  As I have said, the lying in politics has been going on as long as there have been politicians. What always comes to my mind is trickledown economics. The first time I heard about that trickledown economics I never thought it made sense. Put money in the hands of the rich, by cutting their taxes and they will create all those jobs. Paul Ryan called the rich job creators which sounded great. Of course it didn’t work that way. Why?   Well, those job creators, in reality, sent a lot of those jobs overseas so they could make even a bigger profit or, they bought back stock to inflate its value. We cut their taxes so they can create jobs that they are sending overseas or increase their own stock value. Greed does not create a lot of jobs.   Now, they say that the reason we have problems because immigrants are coming here and taking our jobs. I will guarantee you the immigrants have never sent a single job overseas, greedy corporations have. But now we need a wall that will keep the immigra

  The Congressional committee to investigate the insurrection is now set with the addition of the Congressman from Illinois Adam Kinzinger. With Cheney and Kinzinger on the committee does it really make it a bipartisan committee? I don’t know but it certainly looks good on paper. I only wish more Republicans wanted to search for the truth. I only wish more Republicans wanted to uphold their oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution. Our democracy was attacked by domestic terrorists and they were sent by the head of the Republican Part, Donald Trump. On Jan 7 th there were very few people in Congress that disagreed with that. The World stood in shock as they watched what was going on live. I will always remember where I was when I heard that they were storming the Capitol. I ran home and turned on MSNBC and watched in shock what was happening. Things like this only happen in 3 rd world countries, not here in the United States.   Is there anyone responsible? That is a question that I ask myself a lot lately. We have all the truths and we have all the lies and we are having trouble distinguishing which is which and people have died because of it. More people will die because of it. We are now over 600,000 deaths and climbing. There have been over 4 million deaths worldwide and it could have been worse, much worse. One of the states that is being hit the hardest with the new Delta variant surge is Missouri. All the fingers are pointing to the little tourist town of Branson, Missouri as the epicenter of the new surge in the state. There are about 54 new cases a day in a town of just 57,000. Branson is one of the hottest tourist areas in the Midwest so they get a lot traffic through the city. Their mayor from what I understand is a Trump supporter, anti- vaccine person and a anti- mask person. So I want to ask what roll does that mayor have in the infection of people in his own city and in the spread of the vir

  We seem to have conflicting personal rights going on in America. Is it a person’s personal right to not get vaccinated? I would have to say “yes”. Does a person that has been vaccinated have the right to feel safe when they go out in public? I would say “yes” to that also. That is the dilemma, they both have rights. Does one right over shadow another? I would think that answer would be” yes”. We have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness so I would think that protecting your neighbor’s life would take precedent. I was just in Seacrest Market in Ellison Bay Wisconsin. There was a pretty good crowd in there I would say about 30 people. There was only one person wearing a mask and it was me. I have been vaccinated but I am still trying to practice the proper mask protocols.     Why?   We now have our first conviction of one of the insurrectionist that stormed our Capitol. It is eight months in jail. A White male storms the Capitol with a group of people that want to overthrow a branch of our Government and he only gets eight months in jail. Now there is a women in Texas that has been sentenced to five years in prison for voting in Texas while being a felon from a tax conviction. She claimed it was a mistake. She wasn’t registered and was assisted by a poll worker in filling out a provisional ballet. It was caught and not counted. I would call that no harm, no foul but the Texas Courts gave her five years. Oh, did I mention that she is Black. A White male storms the Capitol, if successful would have toppled our government and get a eight month sentence. A Black female votes illegally, claims it was a mistake and get a five year sentence. There was no attempt to overthrow the government and the vote didn’t even count. I need someone tell me how this is equal justice

  I am sitting here in beautiful Door County Wisconsin and it looks like Covid 19 is making a comeback.   The numbers are starting to climb and it looks like my State, Florida is leading the way. Why does that not surprise me? DeSantis has already started is run for the presidency and he is playing to a much larger audience than the State of Florida. He wants the national headlines. He is selling Don’t Fauci My Florida merchandise as the numbers are going up and more people will die. His track record for hiding data from the public is well known and because of that many people died that didn’t have to. In Florida, our governor is bought and paid for by people that care more about profit than my life. I lived in Wisconsin when Scott Walker started his presidential campaign early. Scott Walker was also looking out for his National reputation more than the State of Wisconsin and Wisconsin suffered.   On Jan 6 th our Capital was attacked by what I will call Domestic Terrorists. Some people have called it an insurrection like I have. Some people have called it a protest which to me is an understatement. Some people have called it a riot which is what it looked like. Some people called it a bunch of tourist at the Capital which is a lie, plain and simple. It looks like the Congressional Commission to investigate the Terrorist Attack is finally going to start this month. There were not very many Republicans that voted for the commission. This will probably be viewed as a partisan commission even though there will be Republicans on it. I think that no one that voted not to certify the election should be sitting on the commission. They all could be potential witnesses. I find it very sad that there are so many Republicans that are so dead set against finding out the truth and who is responsible. Our search for the truth and answers should be more important than being a Republican or

  I know what personal morals are. Well, at least I know what my personal morals are. I try to live by them but like most people I do not have a perfect past. I would never want to run for public office and have my whole life examined like I was under a microscope. How many of us could? How much of a right to know, do we have on our political figures? In today’s digital age what is printed true or untrue will spread like wild fire. The burden of truth seems to fall more and more on the reader and not on the writer. How many of us are going to take the time to research everything our favorite Politician has to say? How many of us are going to sit there at our computer fact checking everything that we watch on the news. That is the problem today, we have so much information that it is hard to know who is telling the truth and who is not. I was born in 1953 so I have seen my share of recent history.   I just Goggled Jan 6 th Political Prisoners. I was surprised that there was a ton of posting on the subject. I had not seen that before until the Florida Trump rally and people saying that the Political Prisoners should be released. So the insurrection was not an insurrection it was a political exercise put on by the Republican Party? First they were “Tourist” and now they are “Political Prisoners”. Right? and I am Santa Claus. Well, I guess I am grey enough to be old Saint Nick. White Supremacy must just be a political issue. I never quite looked at it that way. I always looked at it as a moral issue that was a plague on this country. I have always thought that racism was what was going to destroy this country and I still do. Why I stopped voting Republican was because I would not stand by those White Supremacists.   Racism just will not go away in this country. I have written about it before and will write about it again I am sure. I know that Senator Scott from South Carolina said that there was no systematic racism in our country but how can there not be. His statement that America is not a racist country is either a lie or he is one of the most blind Politicians in the United States. Of course there could be another reason. The man just may be putting party before country. Every day when you read the news there is another story about some racist incident that has happened somewhere. Racism is as American as apple pie. I was just reading a story that a man in New Jersey was just arrested for pushing and hurling racial slurs at a neighbor. Of course he has apologized for the incident and said that he just lost his temper. Of course that is just supposed to make things better.   It has now been a half a year since the insurrection. This was not a just a criminal act. This was an act of terrorism meant to overthrow a branch of our government. I cannot believe that there has not been very much accountability so far. Accountability has to start at the top. The insurrectionist was not just spontaneous mob attacking the Capital. People were wearing tactical gear. This was planned ahead of time with what I suspect was with the cooperation of some people in our Government. Treasonous acts are more than criminal acts and they need to be treated as such. I have seen a lot Republicans compare the insurrection to the rioting that has been happening because of police brutality. As I have stated I grew up in the 50s and 60s. I have seen my fair share of rioting. I have never met anyone that said that rioting was ok. I did hear that violence was the language of the unheard. You treat people as if they are not worthy or invisible they will eventually rebel. We have treat

  I am writing this just before the 4 th of July. This is a time to remember the vision that those men had that day for the new country they were about to start building. Are we losing our way from their vision? The Supreme Court just took the wind from the sails of democracy and this counties independence celebration. Is that going to be Supreme Court Justice Robert’s Legacy? In every turn it looks like to me that he has diminished the vote of the individual in favor of the corporate entities that do not even have a right to vote. They seem to be taking the power of the people to decide what their voice will be and has given that voice to powerful PACs that have nothing to do with the voice of the people. Their goal just may be to silence that voice of the people. Since Roberts has gotten on the bench his goal seems to me is to diminish the voice and the will of the people. Every time the Supreme Court has had a chance to enhance our democracy they seem to going in the other direct

  Immigration has been the elephant in the room that no one has a real answer. A lot of people say they do but in reality nothing has worked. Why? If I knew all the answers I would be a very rich man but with every statement that is said more questions are being asked. What is the root of the problem? I have to say poverty. People from impoverish countries wanting to have a piece of the American Dream that we have sold to the world. Who can blame them? That is what my ancestors did was come here in search of the American Dream.   As I see it we can do 3 things. We can let them in which would send a portion of our country ballistic. We can help clean up their countries and build their economies. Or we can just say that it is not our problem and just ignore it. I don’t know anyone that thinks we should just let them in. That would create even more problems than we have now. They come in with nothing and you would have to have services for them to survive until they can get on their fee
