Lying, Hate, Racism, Bigotry, Truth and Faith, those are just a few of the words that we hear a lot today. Why? Because those are actually the words that describe what is going on in the country today. We are in a very divided nation and it is all those words and others that divide us. It is sad when Truth and Faith divides us as much as Lying, Hatred, Racism and Bigotry do. Next month I will be turning 70 years old and in that entire time I have very seldom seen the Hatred and Bigotry that divides much to this country today.   Who benefits from all that Hated and Bigotry that we have today? I know that I don’t. If fact I don’t know a single person that does. Of course I don’t move in the circles with the people that want to have the power over us. That is right, there are people that want to rule, not govern but rule. The very thing that our founding fathers fought is now under attack by people that would rather rule than govern but more important is the people that would rather b
Education in Florida, I have written before of education in Florida. I had intended taking a week off from writing but I just had to write about what is now happening in Florida.   Sometimes I just don’t believe what is happening here in Florida because I never thought that America could be like this. Under DeSantis our public schools have become a national joke. I hate to say this but it almost sounds like Adolf Hitler or Benito Mussolini are running our Schools. You Can’t Say Gay, no Critical Race Theory, Banning Books in Libraries, these are all just a few of the indoctrination programs that are going on in our Schools. Yes it is indoctrination. It may also be a little racist and bigoted. What it may be is playing to peoples ignorance too. I often wonder what kind of world DeSantis thinks he is sending these students out into after they graduate. In my opinion he is not wanting to prepare them at all. Does he really think that he can just legislate the idea of racism out of our
No Labels. You would think a person like me would like a party like No Labels. I have in my bio that I don’t like being labeled. I write that I am not a Republican or a Conservative, that I am not a Democrat or a Republican. I am an Independent American. All that means to me is I will vote for the party that serves the people. I will never serve a political party. My goal is to do my best for America and Americans, not to put a political party before our nation.  No Labels seems to be getting its fair share amount to press lately. With today’s press I don’t know if it is deserving or not. Today’s press loves to sensationalize things just to sell us the news, to generate ad money. Are they real? I don’t know but I think that they are dangerous. The Election between Al Gore and George W. Bush would there have been a different result if Ralph Nader didn’t run as a Green Party Candidate? Many analysts believe that Ralph Nader swung too many votes away for Al Gore. Just think about all th
Our Military is not making its recruitment quotas. According to the web site Military Times, the Army, Air Force, and Navy are going to fall short of their goals. The Army is projecting the largest shortfall by about 12,000 recruits. The Army is doing better than they were last year where they were 15,000 recruits short. The Navy is going to fall about 6,000 recruits short. The Air Force is going to be about 10,000 short but their numbers include the Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserve. According to the same site, Military Times, respect for the military has drop considerably. A survey asked in 2018 stated that 70 percent had respect for the military and when asked the same question in February 2021 that percentage had dropped to 56 percent. In a 3 year period the respect for our military had dropped 14 percent. This cannot be blamed on Biden because he didn’t take office until January of 2021. There are a lot of people blaming him for a lot of different things. In this litt
Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, who just happens to be running for President, has quietly rejected hundreds of millions in federal energy funding. Biden touts the benefits of its marquee climate law on the campaign trail in battleground states. The total of money that DeSantis has turned away was 377 million dollars that would have been used as grants. What DeSantis did was veto 5 million dollars worth of grants to be administering the funds, so any applications for those funds had to be withdrawn. I lived in Wisconsin when Scott Walker was running for President. President Obama had inherited a huge financial mess from the Bush administration and some proposed some pretty serious stimulus programs on improving the infrastructure of the State which then Governor Doyle accepted. In 2010 Scott Walker became Governor by defeating Tom Barrett. Governor Walker stopped the infrastructure work returning money to the Federal Government. He also returned over 800 million dollars fo
Climate change is real. Global Warming is real. Whatever you want to call it I just say that it is real. We have recorded the single hottest day in recorded history. I was surprised to know that heat deaths outnumber the total number of deaths from hurricanes and floods combined according to an article I was reading on Yahoo News. More and more scientists seem to be saying this extreme heat is going to be the norm. Most heat deaths can be preventable but as the temperature goes up so will the number of heat related deaths. Numbers don’t lie. It should be impossible for the Climate Change deniers to claim that our extreme temperatures are a hoax but still too many will claim just that. The big debate of course is this man made? I am no scientist so I cannot give you a scientific answer. I can only give you an answer that my common sense tells me should be true. In the news two days ago was the fact that we had just had the hottest day in recorded history. It may be the most single m
The Supreme Court: Has the Supreme court made discrimination an acceptable practice in America? Is it now an American right to discriminate against people that we don’t like or don’t agree with? That is what it looks like to me. They took a made up court case about a fictitious case of free speech and ruled on it. The conservatives on the court already knew how they were going to rule. All they needed was a case to come before them so they could rule as they did. I can’t help but feel that they have set the country back about 70 years. The case was not a real case but they ruled on it anyway. By a vote of 6-3 the Court ruled in favor of an Evangelical Christian web designer in Colorado that did not have to accept business from a same sex couple wanting a gay marriage web site. Colorado law bars businesses from discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation but Smith argued that it violated her free speech and all six so called conservative Justices ruled in her favor. Part of me
What a week we had last week. The Supreme Court ruled against affirmative action. The Supreme Court said discrimination was “ok”. The Supreme Court said that the government could not forgive the student loans. That was one hell of a week for the Supreme Court sending us back decades. We can’t achieve time travel so the Supreme Court is doing it for us. Do you know how you get a song going through your head and you just can’t stop it? The song from Huey Lewis, “Back In Time”, from “Back To The Future” is constantly going through my head right now. You put the Supreme Court and then all the smoke from the Canadian Wild Fires and we have had on hell of week. My wife, the dog, and I are on vacation for the next couple of weeks. I am originally from Wisconsin and that is where my two sons live and my four grandchildren. Our first stop was Milwaukee to drop off an outboard motor at my brother In-law’s house and then to Kenosha, where I grew up. I had read about all the smoke from the Can
