Are we a nation of laws or are we a nation where the law only applies to the masses and not the elite? People have been put in jail for being in posession of marijuana but people that have tried to subvert our democracy seem to be running around free. What hurts this country more? Some poor guy smoking a joint of someone telling their followers that they have to over throw the election with trial by combat. Rudy Giuliani’s apartment and office have now been searched by the FBI. What took so long? It had been reported that his dealings with the Ukraine were borderline criminal years ago. Could there have been a cover-up from the last administration? Did our Attorney General at the time interfere with the investigation? Did the former President interfere with the investigation? Those are questions that I feel need to be investigated. If no one is above the law than we have to start investigating those that try to interfere with the law. There are many investigations that I feel nee
Today is seems that the country is trying to deal with many issues that have been ignored for too long. Climate change, green technology, pollution, infrastructure and healthcare. Since the 60’s 70’s these things have been brought up by various groups and political parties and then just buried when the next crisis came along. Acid rain was talked a lot about in the 60’s and 70’s. We knew back then what we were spewing in the air was not only harming the environment but our own health. We have known the cause of acid rain but have we done enough to stop it? Many people will say yes and many people will say no.   In the 1980’s they did come up with ways of burning fossil fuels more efficiently and less harmful to the environment.  The fact still remains that 50 years of knowing the effects of acid rain we are still very dependant of burning   fossil fuels that we know are harming the planet. People are driven by both fear and greed when it comes to green technology. I guess in some wa
The trial on Minneapolis is now over and a guilty verdict was given. Now I agree with the verdict but I do not think that it is time to celebrate. Doing what is right is not something to celebrate but is something to build on. We need to keep moving forward trying to live up to the principles of We the People. I have always been a believer that All Lives Matter but until you can say that Black Lives Matter you really do not believe in All Lives Matter. We have a lot of work to do to make All Lives Matter a reality. All my life I have heard people say that no one is above the law yet is this really true? There have been a few police shootings and when you read a lot of the comments to those shootings you will see that there is a segment of the population that do believe that most police shootings are justified. Police should not be above the law. Now resisting arrest   is a crime that is usually a misdemeanor or a felony that can constitute jail time or a fine.      Now when I look
Why are we such a violent country? Almost every day you read about mass shootings. Is killing so entrenched in the DNA of the United States that there is no way out? Every year it seems like it just gets worse. There have been over 123 of these killings of 3 or more people in the US over the last 42 years. Now if you look up the total mass shooting gun deaths in the U. S. they only make up a small portion of gun deaths reported every year. The total of gun deaths is growing. Gun deaths in America become news when there is a mass shooting but it should be in the news all the time. I know guns don’t kill people, people kill people. Well I am sorry but people with guns kill people. You cannot take the gun out of the scenario. I know people say that they need a gun for self-defense. My answer to that is really? You need an AR15 to defend yourself at the grocery store or at the hardware store? I am all for defending my home and property but walking around with an AR15 in public is not d
Power and sex seems to dominate today’s political conversation a little too much. You would think that we as a nation would move away from these things but we are still electing people to office that exercise that power. Why does it keep going on? Because too many people allow it. I wonder how often and by how many congressmen have shown pictures of their conquests on the floor of Congress like Matt Gaetz. Matt Gaetz can’t be the only one because no one seems to have a whole lot of outrage. We have a whole lot of politicians that talk about morals and family values to get votes when what they really want is to get reelected and are willing to say anything to get elected. I have read that his defense fund is being funded by donor donations. If he is so innocent why does he need a defense fund? Also who were the Congressmen that were being entertained by those pictures? These are people that run on morals. They have courted the Evangelicals when they really do not care about the teachi
I have stated many times that voter suppression and racism go hand in hand. Believe it or not people actually argue with me. They make it sound like there is no voter suppression and that everything is fair. Well I am white man from Wisconsin and now live in Florida. I never had to wait 8hrs in line to vote. Why did some people have to wait 8hrs to vote? Could it be that they are being discouraged to vote? The wait time for everyone to vote should be the same if all things are fair. Let me ask you how long did it take you to vote? Me I called for a ballot, they mailed it to me and then I dropped it off. Easy. I have written before and have stated that the lying has to stop. If you are saying that there is not voter suppression I could be nice and say you are mistaken or I could just be blunt and say your are lying. In today’s digital age no one should have to wait 8hrs in line unless you are trying to discourage people from voting. Discouraging people from voting actually is voter su
The big trial is going on in Minneapolis right now. Police Officer Chauvin is on trial for kneeling on George Floyd’s neck for nine minutes resulting in Floyd’s death. In today’s digital age this was of course recorded for the whole world to see. So, not only is Officer Chauvin on trial but so is our whole judicial system and our Police force throughout the whole country. Is that fair? I really do not that think that is fair but in the wake of everything else like the Briana Taylor situation it is understandable. I have posted on the web that what we all have witnessed was a modern day lynching. I had people laughing at me. Situations like this many times brings out the worst of us. At times I get the feeling that Black Lives really do not matter to a certain segment of our population. Now, there are a couple of trains of thought. One is that most police are good people but there are just a few bad apples. The other thought is that police are mostly bad but there are a few good one
As I read   Ted Cruz has made another run for the border. The last one was to go to Mexico during a crisis in his home State of Texas. Now he is running to the border to show the world the immigration crisis at the border. It was lights, camera, and action for old Ted. He had on an olive green shirt and a hat that had the Texas flag on it, I think, but to me he looked more like a militant than a Senator. Maybe that is the look he wanted going for himself. Of all the people to send, Why would they send Mr. I Can’t Wait To Get To Cancun? There has been a problem at our border for most of my life. Part of the problem has been our thirst for cheap labor. In the late 1800s and early 1900s most of our immigration restrictions were against Asian refugees and refugees from Eastern Europe while favoring immigration from Northern and Western Europe. It was groups like the KKK that thought that the people from Eastern Europe were less desirable than those from other areas. White supremacy has
