Education is failing. Or maybe a way to say it is that we are failing education. We will hear a lot about education during the year and a half because it will be a real hot election topic. Every politician will become an expert in education just so they can win votes. You will hear candidates like Mile Pence, Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Doug Burgum would eliminate the Department of Education. You have Ramaswamy, Chris Christie, and Tim Scott say that we have to destroy the Teacher’s Union. So some want to destroy the people that over see our education and some want to destroy the people that do the educating. When they are done, what is left of education? I will admit that all the changes to education that the Republicans made during the Bush Administration didn’t make a lot of sense to me. What in the hell did “no child left behind” mean? It was a buzz phrase that rolled off the tongue real well but what did it mean and how were we going to accomplish that. The Department o
I am exhausted. Do you know what I find exhausting is that we seem to have political campaigning going 365 days a year every year. We have an election cycle end only to have another one begin the very next day. The 2024 Presidential election is some 15 months away and we are already into fierce campaigning for President. In fact, we have had multiple Republicans and one Democrat, Kennedy that has already been campaigning for many months. By the time the election actually comes there will be no real relief because the next election season will start the very next day. The debates have stated already. This is too much for the country to bear and it just creates too much division. A lot of the debate was not what I would call tackling any real issues. We are in a terrible Heat Advisory over much on the nation. The smoke from the Canadian Wild fires have choked much of the nation. We just had a Tropical Storm hit Southern California for the first time since 1939. Southwestern Florida i
Are concentration camps in our future? I know that is probably an exaggeration and a shocking statement to get your attention. In the back of my mind it may be not that farfetched.   Sarah Huckabee Sanders says teaching African Studies just pushes the left wing agenda and teaching children to hate America. What is that statement supposed to mean? Is it suppose to say that it is ok to lie about the atrocities that were committed against the African American community here in the United States? Are we just supposed to pretend that they never happened even though they did? What type of emotion are her statements meant to inspire? Pride in the White race? The feeling that whatever the White race does is ok? Is it meant to enhance the superiority of the White race? Is it supposed to inspire Hate? Maybe all of these things and more. What it doesn’t inspire is Honesty or Unity. It just inspires more Division and Suppression that will lead to the further Oppression of things not White. It ha
It just goes on and on. Trump has been indicted for a fourth time. We have never had a President indicted before though a couple may have needed to on both sides to the aisle. We have never had a President , like Trump, who disregarded   the will of the people. Whether a candidate didn’t   like the way people voted, or how long it took to count the votes is not up to any President. It is actually up to the States and Congress, the President has no say in the election process. For a President to have a say over our election process would probably mean the end to our Republic. By what Trump has been saying Al Gore should have been able to just declare himself President over George Bush. Thankfully, Al Gore loved his country more than Trump loved his. That goes for Pence too. I am thankful though Mike Pence loved his country more than Trump did. I have been on this earth for 70 years and have never witness what I have witnessed. If Vice Presidents had the power to overturn the will of
Guns and religion, what the hell is going on? Kari Lake recently said   “Now is the time to cling to our guns and our religion”. What in the hell is that? She also stated that the “75 million that voted for him are ready to defend him”. Lake Stated “If you want to get to President Trump, you’re going to have to go through me, and you’re going to have to go through 75 million Americans just like me.” She added that most were “card-carrying members” of the National Rifle Association. She further stated “That’s not a threat. That’s a public service announcement. We will not let you lay a finger on President Trump”. That is like stealing a line from a John Wayne movie.   I have known for some time that violence is now a part of the Republican Party’s unwritten platform. I saw it starting to rise with Newt Gingrich’s “Contract with America” and keep building to where we are today. What really amazes me is how fast it accelerated once Trump entered the picture. I don’t understand how peopl
I just read an article from my hometown Kenosha WI. I see that the police profiled and arrested an innocent Black Male. The police went in search of two black males and a black female, who had a small child, who ran away from a hit and run accident.   According to a witness the suspects ran into a nearby Applebee’s. The police entered the restaurant and saw a young Black couple sitting in a booth with a baby. Even though the couple didn’t fit the description of the suspects the police went over and questioned them. What they fit the description of was they were Black but the number wasn’t right. The man refused to cooperate with the police when asked what vehicle he came in so they could verify if they were in the car accident or not. The manager stated that “The guy didn’t want to comply; he had his baby in his arms. The officers kept telling him he’s not under arrest but he’s detained and needed to answer this question. He was trying to say he needed to change his son’s diaper. He
Here we go again. Can Trump stop threatening people on social media? Can Trump stop threatening people at his rallies? Can Trump stop threatening people during his interviews? Is that all there is with Trump are his threats and insults?   Are threats and insults a legitimate campaign strategy? Are threats and insults a legitimate defense strategy? This is the way that Trump has been pretty much been all his life. It seems that he feels, because he is rich, he can just bully his way through life. His insults and bullying are just one of the things the people who have never supported Trump dislike about him. His insults and bullying are what makes him one of them for the MAGA crowd. They are the ones that always complained about having to be politically correct. They are the ones that think it is ok to walk around with AR15 to intimidate other people. Trump would never allow these people in the front door or even the back door to any of his Clubs or Properties. What makes Trump one of
The third time is the charm. Trump has now been indicted for a third time. I am sure this will not be the last time. We still have the State of Georgia to go. If you look at Trump’s business life he has been involved with the law and the courts more than probably anybody I know of. The way he has used the law and the courts to hide from his business failures to using the courts to punish his opponents. Trump, I swear, has lived half of his life in the courts suing our being sued. I swear this is what he thinks life is really about. We have never had a President like him and I hope we never do. When I read through the indictment I realize more and more how corrupt Trump is and the many members of his inner circle are.   One of the key things I get was Eastman wanted Pence to not certify the elections and let the courts sort it out. What he was saying, in reality, was they needed to take the election out of the hands of the voters and put it into the hands of the court. I would like so
The Pledge of Allegiance. I think that many assume the Pledge of Allegiance has been part of the United States since the founding of the country. I was surprised that it wasn’t written until 1885 by Captain George Thatcher Balch, a Civil War Union Officer, who later authored a book on how to teach patriotism to children in the public schools. In 1892 Francis Bellamy revised Balch’s verse. Bellamy was the circulation manager for the magazine “The Youth’s Companion”. The magazine sent 10,000 leaflets containing part of the Bellamy’s Pledge to schools across the country and on October 21 1892 over 10,000 children recited the verse together. Congress formally recognized the Pledge for the first time in 1942. In 1954 the words “Under God” were added officially to the pledge. The Bellamy Pledge was “I pledge allegiance to my flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. In 1924 the pledge was changed to “I pledge allegiance to the Fl
