  Freedom, we have been hearing a lot of people cry “freedom”. Why do people think that by electing a Democrat for President was taking away their freedom? What freedom was taken away? Why would people think that they have more freedom when the Republicans are in power? Those questions have to be asked and I am afraid that there are not real answers. The reason why? Everyone views freedom differently. Now I Googled the freest countries in the world and I came up with thi we are not even in the top ten. The land of the free and the home of the brave are not even in the Top Ten? This can’t be true but yet I believe it is. Now there are a number of things that I believe give us freedom and I will use what I believe because I know that other people will believe differently. I like the freedom of mobility.   Black Lives Matter and Supporting the Police, You Can Do Both. When I was young like a lot of kids, wanted to be a police officer. To protect and serve the community, who wouldn’t want to do that? To this day I look at our police as a very important part of our community. When I was lying on the front lawn with no heart beat and my wife performing CPR who was the first one there? A police officer. Part of their job is to be there when we need them and I needed them. I am alive today with the help of a police officer.   Just like the rest of you I react to the news of the day or lately the scandal of the day. Now I am reading that Governor DeSantis is trying to restrict mail-in voting. Now why would he want to do that? There are a lot of old people in the State of Florida and I am one of them. Why would he want to make it harder for older people to vote? Over two dozen states have introduced legislation to suppress voting. Now in the 2020 election here was no evidence of voter fraud that would have changed the election. Everything worked. I would think that that we should be encouraging voting. Our Country was founded on representative government. Men died so we could have representative government. Did we forget the phrase "No Taxation Without Representation”? Are we going to tax people while denying them representative government?  Now the very first election I voted in was in 1980 even though I had been eligible to vote in earlier elections.   Now we have another controversy with another Politian Governor Cuomo of New York. He is accused with hiding information from the Trump DOJ in fear of an investigation. Nursing home deaths are a lot higher than previously reported. Now I believe that no information should be withheld from the public. We have the right to know whether it is Russian interference in our elections to the number of people that have died of the virus. We have a right to know and any politician that hides things from the public should be called out. Thank god we have a free press to do that. Just think of all the things we wouldn’t know if it wasn’t for the free press. Now I live in Florida where our Governor makes it a policy to hide information from the people. Now during the period they call “in-season” we have a lot of part time residents. They own or rent property here and stay for the winter months. Now it was discovered that Florida was only reporting the deaths of Florida’s permanent residents.  It

  There has been a ton of posts on both Twitter and Facebook about the Impeachment trial, the acquittal and the insurrection. A lot of them I see show that the country is far from being healed. I really do that think that we can ever be truly being whole again without the truth. Witnesses should have been called. People should have been forced to testify under oath about what really happened. Politics should have been put aside for the search for the truth. I will look at Senators like Cruz and Rubio and know that they really are not interested in the truth. They are only interested in the power that they get from hiding the truth.   In today’s digital age none of us will be able escape history. Every Facebook posting, every Twitter we send and everything we share on the web has a chance to live for a very long time. Now most of us will not be important enough but a few, like our Senators, will not be able to escape history. All the recording and all the testimony will be there to be reviewed generations from now. Now it is a good read and what happened between the Senate and Johnson has repercussions even today.   This week starts the Impeachment trial in the Senate. Now it looks like it is just going to be another partisan vote. A man died and Trump has not been held accountable even though on January 7 th most everyone agreed that the insurrection was caused by all the rhetoric that Trump and his cohorts were instigating. What happened? Who applied all the pressure for so many to change their mind? Who is holding the leash on all these politicians? A man died protecting our democracy and it seems that isn’t a consideration anymore. We are no longer a country of law and order especially when it comes to people with money. All the people that incited that insurrection should be charged and tried in a court of law. They should be accountable to the people where the crime occurred.   I am really glad that I am an Independent voter. Being not affiliated with any political party gives me such a feeling of freedom. I don’t have to try and justify the bad behavior of bad politicians. Lately is seemed like there are a lot of bad politicians. My mother always told me that I was only as good as the company that I keep. The older I get the more I understand what she meant.   On February 3 rd a brave man sits is state in the rotunda of the US Capital building. He was a police officer, one of the men in blue.   At the same time we have the impeachment trial coming up and I am wondering what it is going to be. Will it be politics as usual or will people really be looking for justice and law and order. Well I know that there is going to be plenty of politics. What about law and order? Is there going to be justice for Brian Sicknick? Trump has never mentioned his name or the sacrifice he made for his Country. Now Brian was a vet that was deployed to Saudi Arabia.   Why is this country in such a mess? There are multiple answers to that question but one of the answers is that rich people do not want to pay taxes. Another is rich corporations do not want to pay taxes. So the problem is taxes right? Well maybe. Without taxes would we really be that great of a country? Without our tax dollars this country would never had achieved so many great things. I know this guy that is a really nice guy. A great conversationalist and dedicated father. His children are lucky to have him as a father. His wife is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. Now he has this beautiful huge house that is perfectly landscaped.   He has a 45 foot power boat that he keeps up north that works as a floating cabin. Now this man is smart and has worked hard to get what he wants and works hard to keep it. For me to live like him I would have to win the lottery.
