All the January 6th hearings are now over. For the first time in our history criminal charges have been referred to the Department of Justice by a Congressional Committee on a former President of the United States. I have a lot of different emotions that are running through me right now. One emotion I am not feeling is one of celebration. I find that there is not much to celebrate about the last 7 years that Trump has commanded the attention of the nation. As a nation we have become more and more divided because of one man, Donald Trump and criminal referrals will not change that. Don’t get me wrong I thought they should happen too but it is a sad day for our nation. What we saw presented by the committee was mostly a rehashing of what we had already seen but a review was a good thing to do. Trump did not act alone in this and there were more referrals than just Trump, but, as Harry Truman said “The Buck Stops Here” so the buck has to stop at Trump. Funny, but I think that was one of Trump’s biggest flaws, he never took responsibility for anything. It has been a constant of him saying that it always is a “Witch Hunt” because people are out to get him when he was always the one holding the matches to burn someone at the stake.

I have read too many times Republicans saying that the Panel was a partisan panel. I am sorry but you don’t get a much bigger conservative Republican than a Liz Chaney. Like father like daughter and she is her father’s daughter. Just look at here career and her voting record and if you are really honest you will see what I mean. Because she stood up to Trump and put our Country and its Constitution first she has sacrificed her political career. She is the type of person that you would want with you going into battle because you know she will fight like hell to defend our Country and Constitution. She was not alone on that stage; there was also Adam Kinzinger a Republican and hero just as much as Chaney. He is a true patriot that has taken the oath to protect our Constitution more than once. He not only served in Congress but also in the Air Force serving both in Iraq and Afghanistan. Where were the other Patriotic Republicans? Our Constitutional Republic was attack on January 6th 2021 by domestic terrorist sent by the outgoing President of the United States. There should have been outrage by not only the Democrats but by the entire nation and that includes the Republicans. The day after a few Republican leaders did speak up but they were silenced very quickly by the party that has put itself before our Republic. The fact that Trump was not impeached speaks volumes of how people put their political party before the good of our nation. Don’t even get me started on Pence. He is such a “Wishy-Washy” person that has not only put Trump before our Constitution but also pit Trump before his God. Can you imagine that man defending the nation? That day after the referral of the Commission Mitch McConnell did state that we all knew who was responsible for what happened on 1/6th

The Commission dealt with the events leading up to the Insurrection on Jan 6th. They did not deal with the stealing of documents that should have, by law, gone to the National Archives or with the Classified Documents that Trump took. That investigation is solely up to the Department of Justice. It is being reported that some of the classified documents are missing. The Republicans are quick to talk about the southern border and the National Security problem we have because of it when one of the biggest threats to our security is their fearless leader Donald Trump. Funny how our Northern Border is not a security threat, only the Southern Border. If the Republicans are not willing to accept the security threat that Trump poses then I don’t want hear about our borders. You just sound like racists. If you were honest you would know that our borders were not any more secure under Trump than any other President. He just said they were.

Many times I have heard people being interviewed and they always say how much Trump has done for them. Funny thing is that they don’t really see what Trump has actually done for them. Are they really better off because of Trump? In that matter are you really better off with the whole Republican Party? What have they actually accomplished that helps the majority of the country? Now, I can see what they do for the Koch family and other billionaire families in America and around the world but most of us don’t run in those circles. What do they do for the other over 99 percent of the Country? Yes, I know that he made it so you didn’t have to be as politically correct but is that a good thing? To put it another way, he made it ok to insult people. Doesn’t that just cause fights? Trump did not rebuttal his opponents, he just insulted them. I know people that have Developmentally Disabled relatives that were Trump supporters even though Trump insulted a Developmentally Disabled reporter. I still can’t figure that one out. Is it a question of priorities? Most were not rich enough to really benefit from Trump’s tax cuts. My wife was a teacher and I know too many people that didn’t support what my wife did for a living and have allowed the Republicans demonize those dedicated teachers. When it comes to the environment the Republicans have not done very much at all. You wonder why much of Generation Z is not supporting Republicans just look at the kind of World that we are leaving them.

This is not over and will continue to divide our country for years to come. I will probably not see a united America in my lifetime. This is no longer a matter of being a Republican and a Democrat or being a conservative or a liberal. Trump was no Conservative but is he what the Republican Party has become?  I am actually afraid of that answer.

On Saturday, I was looking at Facebook and a person I was friends with, in fact, someone I went to High School with, posted something I knew was wrong. The post claimed that four lawmakers in Colorado decided jail time shouldn’t be mandatory for people who committed sexual assault of children. She claimed they were pedophile protectors. I opened up Perplexity and asked about the situation, and this is the reply I got back: You’re referring to a recent controversy in Colorado over a proposed bill that would change sentencing rules for certain sex crimes. Here are the verified facts to clarify what’s actually happening: • In early 2026, the Colorado House Judiciary Committee held a vote on a sentencing reform bill that aimed to give judges more discretion in certain felony cases. • Some lawmakers voted against an amendment that would have made mandatory prison sentences apply to all sex crimes, including child sexual assault, preferring instead to let judges determine sentences...
Dove or hawk? Donald Trump ran for President promising to end “endless wars”, avoid new ones, and put American families first. He cast himself as an outsider who would bring peace – the only candidate who wouldn’t drag America into another conflict. The message worked because let's face it, after so many years in Iraq and Afghanistan, America was tired of war. As a country, we were all tired of War. The country wanted stability, not another generation of men and women sent into danger. But once in office, he governed very differently. He governed like a Hawk, quick to threaten, quick to escalate, and willing to use both bombs and tariffs as weapons. What was missing wasn’t just consistency. It was an honor: the sense of responsibility and restraint that should come with the power to risk other people's sons and daughters. This isn’t about ideology. It's about whether someone who promised peace, but repeatedly chooses confrontation, can still claim to be a “dove”. A core...
The hidden tax. Tariffs cause a hidden tax that never really goes away. I hope that Americans are tired of being told fairy tales about why everything costs more. Our elected officials point fingers. Corporations blame supply chains. Commentators blame inflation. The truth is much simpler and infuriating: tariffs are a tax on ordinary people, and the pain does not stop when the policy ends. It sticks. It lingers. It rarely delivers what we were promised. This is the mess we are in now because of the tariffs imposed by the current administration. Tariffs are sold as strength, as toughness – a way to punish governments and to bring back manufacturing jobs. That pitch works on conservatives who want control, moderates who want fairness, progressives who want domestic industry, and politicians trying to get elected. It is a message built to unite. The policy itself does the opposite. It drains the wallets of the very people that it claims to protect. Here is how it actually works. ...
