Sometimes I feel like we are in some Mel Brooks movie like Spaceballs. If you remember the movie, the planet Spaceballs has ruined its atmosphere and is planning to steal the atmosphere from its peaceful neighbor, Druidia. The planet Spaceballs is led by President Skroob and his henchman, Dark Helmet. Those two, along with Colonel Sandrez, go bumbling about the Universe trying to fulfill their diabolical plan.  Now, doesn’t that sound like we have our own President Skroob in Donald Trump and our own Dark Helmet in J D Vance? We also have our own Colonel Sandrez with Elon Musk. Those three are bumbling about trying to acquire our peaceful neighbors, Canada and Greenland. Just like in the movie, what they want to do is totally ridiculous.

Trump has made an offer to buy Greenland. Think about that for a minute. That is like someone wanting to buy the US Virgin Islands. I don’t think it is proper in the 21st century that we still think we can just buy land and people. Yes, it does come down to not only land but the people within that land. Over 200 years ago, we purchased the Louisiana Territory from Napolean. Back then, we thought that the Indigenous People whom we called Indians were just savages that needed to be eradicated. Think about that. Would that be considered right today? It seemed the White European Powers thought it was their job to rule the world, and no matter the continent, they laid claim to it. All of the Western Hemisphere was divided between the Spanish, the French, the English, and the Russians. The fact that there were already people here didn’t matter. They seemed to have claimed and divided up most of the world. To us, it was our manifest destiny to expand our boundaries from coast to coast. If we did today what we did back then, it would be called genocide. Eventually, the colonies became countries of their own but the Indigenous that were there first were not part of the new nation and its government.

World War II was fought because of Imperialism. The desire of one nation to exercise total control over another Nation militarily. Germany wanted to expand its sphere of influence in Europe, and so did Italy in Northern Africa, and Japan wanted all of Southeast Asia. That is dividing up a big chunk of the world by the three-axis nations. This eventually led to a war that encompassed most of the world. Millions died from war, and millions died through the genocide of entire races and cultures. After the War, we had the Soviet Union that didn’t want to give up control of areas that they had freed from Nazi control which amounted to Soviet Imperialism. Now, Trump talks about American Imperialism. After all of the evil that we have seen throughout the world, Trump appears to want to repeat that evil. He is not talking about something like they have in Europe like the European Union. He wants the sovereign nation of Canada to no longer exist and Canada to become our 51st state. We have had the likes of Musk say that Canada is not a real country. Are we becoming what we fought a war against? Are we becoming what the Soviet Union was? These are questions that need to be talked about.

There are now two groups that are planning on visiting Greenland. The first group is National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and US Energy Secretary Chris Wright. The second group is Second Lady Usha Vance. Neither group has been invited by the Greenland government or the Dutch government. These trips came after Trump threatened to annex the autonomous territory. Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute B. Egede is furiously questioning why Waltz is visiting. He is quoted as saying, “We are now at a level where it can in no way be characterized as a harmless visit from a politician's wife.” He also stated, “What is the national security adviser doing in Greenland? The only purpose is to demonstrate power over us.” He went on to state about the Security Adviser’s visit, “He is Trump’s confidential and closest advisor, and his presence in Greenland alone will certainly make the Americans believe in Trump’s mission, and the pressure will increase after the visit.

Of course, now we have further proof we are now being run by the government of Spaceballs. Our government, it turns out, has been using social media to share attack plans with each other. That alone is not exactly the most secure way to share and communicate plans but then they added a journalist from the Atlantic to their texts.  That would be like Lord Helmut sharing his messages to President Skroob with the planet Druidia, the planet that they planned on attacking to vacuum their atmosphere. I know that sounds ridiculous, but that is what the Trump administration is: ridiculous.  Mel Brooks could not have written a more ridiculous script than what we have now in real life with the Trump administration.

Trump government officials, using the Social Media Signal, discussed a US attack on Houthis in Yaman that included the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. In reality, members of the Trump administration coordinated highly sensitive war plans on the insecure group chat.  Don’t we have our own secure form of communication that could be used? I am no government official, but I would be willing to bet we do, so why would they use an unsecure social media app? Could it be because they wanted to leave no trail because using the Social Media App Signal the text automatically deletes? I believe they were hiding their plans and communications from the country, the country they are supposed to be accountable to. I may be wrong, but I also believe this is a crime.

You just can’t make this stuff up. But wait! Comedy writers like Mel Brooks have been making this stuff up for our entertainment. The problem with the Trump administration is that they are not a comedy routine; they are supposed to be the best and the brightest. Instead of the best of the brightest, we got President Skroob of Spaceballs and Dark Helmet as his Vice President. Their administration is made up of the Three Stooges and the Marx Brothers, with a little bit of Barney Fife and Gomer Pyle.

  1. The United Kingdom, France, Spain , and Russia split up the mainland of North America, but they weren't the only colonial powers in the Western Hemisphere. The Dutch and Danish had colonies in the Caribbean and the Dutch and Portuguese had colonies in South America. To the extent that Greenland is part of North America, the Danes still have a possession in North America.

Dove or hawk? Donald Trump ran for President promising to end “endless wars”, avoid new ones, and put American families first. He cast himself as an outsider who would bring peace – the only candidate who wouldn’t drag America into another conflict. The message worked because let's face it, after so many years in Iraq and Afghanistan, America was tired of war. As a country, we were all tired of War. The country wanted stability, not another generation of men and women sent into danger. But once in office, he governed very differently. He governed like a Hawk, quick to threaten, quick to escalate, and willing to use both bombs and tariffs as weapons. What was missing wasn’t just consistency. It was an honor: the sense of responsibility and restraint that should come with the power to risk other people's sons and daughters. This isn’t about ideology. It's about whether someone who promised peace, but repeatedly chooses confrontation, can still claim to be a “dove”. A core...
The hidden tax. Tariffs cause a hidden tax that never really goes away. I hope that Americans are tired of being told fairy tales about why everything costs more. Our elected officials point fingers. Corporations blame supply chains. Commentators blame inflation. The truth is much simpler and infuriating: tariffs are a tax on ordinary people, and the pain does not stop when the policy ends. It sticks. It lingers. It rarely delivers what we were promised. This is the mess we are in now because of the tariffs imposed by the current administration. Tariffs are sold as strength, as toughness – a way to punish governments and to bring back manufacturing jobs. That pitch works on conservatives who want control, moderates who want fairness, progressives who want domestic industry, and politicians trying to get elected. It is a message built to unite. The policy itself does the opposite. It drains the wallets of the very people that it claims to protect. Here is how it actually works. ...
When I was young, I was told that “Sex, Drugs, and Rock n Roll” was going to ruin the country. What I am seeing today is that “Sex, Politicians, and Espionage” is actually what is ruining the country and our democracy. Just think about it. When sex, secrecy, and political power get mixed together, every intelligence service in the world pays attention. The Epstein files aren’t just about a criminal and the rich people that he surrounded himself with. They show how sexual exploitation creates the kind of vulnerabilities foreign governments like Russia dream of. The most uncomfortable part of that truth is that other countries, such as Great Britain, are taking that threat more seriously than we are. Jeffrey Epstein didn’t just commit crimes. He built a system. He targeted vulnerable girls, groomed them, controlled them, and used them to gain access to powerful men. That abuse wasn’t just immoral; it gave him power and leverage. Victims were scared, ashamed, and often silenced. P...
