I have been writing this blog since September 2020. I have written well over 500 pieces that I have posted.  I pride myself on what I write being researched and put in a common-sense style that is easy to understand. People can comment, so I have just about as many comments as I have pieces written. Most of the comments are very positive and respectful but every once in a while, I get a comment that just throws me for a loop. Yesterday was one of those days.

Yesterday, I received a comment that just showed me what is wrong with America, and particularly what is wrong with the Republican Party. My last blog was about the Troops being sent to Washington and what was wrong with that. The reply that I got back had nothing to do with what I had just posted. This is what I received from an unknown reader: “So you believe this libtard propaganda? Under pedo Joe Biden, this country is being handed to China. The Demtards all want power and control, and as much of your tax dollars as they can take from you. They want you to depend on government and to have no say in your governance (no freedom of speech, no guns for personal protection), to live on the streets, be addicted to drugs, own nothing, and pretend to be happy. They align with the Democratic Socialist Party of Germany and the Nazi Party. Your freedom is the demtards lack of control. They want a few powerful at the top and the working class to be the working poor. They only want a two-class system: wealthy, powerful elitists at the top, and then the rest of us to be poor and dependent on the government. That is where their control is most powerfully. Beware of politicians offering free things. Nothing is free, and your freedom is the most coveted thing that you have. Don’t give it away.” I wasn’t really surprised, but I thought it deserved a rebuttal.

First was, of course, the insults. Libtard and Demtards are very common insults among many of the Trump supporters. It seems to just amplify the lack of understanding of what is actually happening, so they just cover up their lack of knowledge with insults. By knowledge, I don’t mean lack of education. What I mean is that this individual can’t look at a situation accurately and come to a conclusion that makes sense, or they don’t look at the situation with honest eyes, so they resort to insults.  Also, calling Joe Biden “pedo Joe” is just another insult that has no substance about who Joe Biden is. What is really sad is the fact that the person is insinuating that Joe Biden is a pedophile two days before the Epstein victims are giving a news conference in Washington, D.C. We are finally going to hear the voices of the victims of the Epstein scandal. I am pretty sure that you won’t see Biden's name on the list, but I am pretty sure you will see Trump's name on the list if the files are ever released.

This person stated that the demtards wanted all the power and control and as much of our tax dollars as they can take from you. That is really interesting because the privatizing of Government functions like schools and prisons that the Republicans love is just that, taking as much of our tax dollars from us and letting other people get rich. How did Musk get so rich? What about government subsidies and incentives? I don’t think he realizes we have paid for much of Starlink and SpaceX. But is those damn Demtards who want to help people that is the problem. We can’t have government function for the good of the people, but it is alright to give billionaires more money and then pay less taxes on their inflated profits.

He talks about personal freedoms that the Democrats have wanted to take away, such as free speech. The two most important free speech issues our forefathers fought for were freedom of the press and the right to protest. The Trump administration attacks the press with a vengeance if network news reports anything negative, and he threatens to pull their broadcast license. That is not the Democrats attacking free speech, but Trump. In Florida, where I live, they want to suppress our right to protest. They say they want to curb violence, but I think that is a lie. On January 6th, I watched our Capitol being violently attacked, but the republicans thought that was just fine. Everyone who attacked the Capitol and attacked the Capitol Police was pardoned. This is not the Democrats doing this.

I just found it so hard to fathom what this person was trying to say. Our freedoms are being taken away daily. We have National Guard troops entering our city like the Troops sent by King George into Boston before our Revolution. Sending those troops into Boston did an awful lot to start our Revolution. The first shots of the Revolution were fired by those same British troops. Trump is showing that he does not honor State rights, and he proves that by sending in those troops. Calling Democrats names and making up false accusations about them being pedophiles or Nazis just makes the accuser look stupid and uninformed.

This is the 21st century, and the answers are there to be found without you leaving your home. In today's digital age, all the lies and all the truths will live forever for future generations to study like they are right there. Lies will not rewrite history. History always finds the truth.

  1. One of the most notable aspects of the our current cultural era is the tendency by the political far right to reduce everything to insults. It's frankly not a very intelligent response to anything. The "Demtard" and "Libtard" labels are themselves, well, stupid, but apparently they make the person using them feel good, and they suspend the obligation on the part of those using the terms to think about what they're saying and promoting.

FWIW, in some quarters politicians are doing the same. The Wyoming Secretary of State, for example, who is clearly hoping to move up the political ladder can hardly speak without decrying "RINOs" or the "left wing media". He simply can't. It's his version, I guess, of doing the same thing.

  2. I think it was James Michener who said 'violence is the last refuge of the ignorant.' I think this is another example of that. Name calling is just another form of violence. As for history always finding the truth, sadly it doesn't. History is written by the winner. So not always reliable.

It seems to me that all of this is a failure if our educational systems. Not teachers so much, as administrators who set the rules and goals teachers have to follow. People are not taught to think critically anymore. If their life is not perfect they are taught it is someone else's fault, someone different than them. They have been taught power means right. We have a very long road ahead of us if we are to survive a a nation.

There’s a simple way to judge a country: look at whose lives it protects, and whose lives it’s willing to forget. For years now, we’ve heard the phrase “All Lives Matter.” It sounds fair. It sounds equal. It sounds like common sense. But a country doesn’t reveal its values through slogans. It reveals them through actions, through the lives it defends, the lives it ignores, and the lives it quietly pushes out of sight. And lately, America has been doing a whole lot of looking away. When Black Americans said they were being killed during traffic stops and routine encounters, the response from many leaders wasn’t concern; it was irritation. Instead of saying, “Let’s fix the problem so fewer people die,” we heard “Blue Lives Matter,” “Stop resisting,” and “BLM is a terrorist group.” A man died in a chokehold on camera. We all saw, from the beginning to the end. It was like a modern-day lynching. Millions marched peacefully. The answer from those in power was “law and order,” and “...
On Saturday, I was looking at Facebook and a person I was friends with, in fact, someone I went to High School with, posted something I knew was wrong. The post claimed that four lawmakers in Colorado decided jail time shouldn’t be mandatory for people who committed sexual assault of children. She claimed they were pedophile protectors. I opened up Perplexity and asked about the situation, and this is the reply I got back: You’re referring to a recent controversy in Colorado over a proposed bill that would change sentencing rules for certain sex crimes. Here are the verified facts to clarify what’s actually happening: • In early 2026, the Colorado House Judiciary Committee held a vote on a sentencing reform bill that aimed to give judges more discretion in certain felony cases. • Some lawmakers voted against an amendment that would have made mandatory prison sentences apply to all sex crimes, including child sexual assault, preferring instead to let judges determine sentences...
Dove or hawk? Donald Trump ran for President promising to end “endless wars”, avoid new ones, and put American families first. He cast himself as an outsider who would bring peace – the only candidate who wouldn’t drag America into another conflict. The message worked because let's face it, after so many years in Iraq and Afghanistan, America was tired of war. As a country, we were all tired of War. The country wanted stability, not another generation of men and women sent into danger. But once in office, he governed very differently. He governed like a Hawk, quick to threaten, quick to escalate, and willing to use both bombs and tariffs as weapons. What was missing wasn’t just consistency. It was an honor: the sense of responsibility and restraint that should come with the power to risk other people's sons and daughters. This isn’t about ideology. It's about whether someone who promised peace, but repeatedly chooses confrontation, can still claim to be a “dove”. A core...
