The Election

It has been over a week since the election and I would like to express some of my thoughts. It was a hard fought election with some dirty campaign ads from both sides. Most of the vicious ads came from the so called super pacs. Some of them were entertaining but some of them were just outright lies. I will have to say that I thought that Biden ran a more upbeat campaign than Trump. Both candidates’ super pacs were very negative. The problem with Trump is he gave too much cannon fodder for organizations like the Lincoln Project. Another problem with Trump was that there were too many tweets and recordings that supported what organizations like the Lincoln Project stated. He really is not a very nice man but that does mean he couldn’t have been a good President. Biden is a very nice man but that does not mean he will be a good President. We need both the right and the left to walk a straight line. We have been pulled to the right for a while and may need to be pulled a little left to compensate but we need to get to the middle of the road so we can go straight.

One of the main problems that I had with the Trump presidency is the fact that he made our fellow Americans, namely the Democrats the enemy. I am sorry but my next door neighbor is not the enemy. They are just my next door neighbor with a different view. We need a two party system for country to survive. Do you know examples of one party system? How about the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. The two party system has worked for over 200 years and I hope it works for another 200. The last four years has been a big eye opener for me but that probably should be a whole other blog.

I do think that Trump would have been reelected except for the virus. His lack of leadership and his dishonesty to the American people will probably define his presidency in history. Calling something a Democratic hoax when you knew how bad it was is just not acceptable to me and I do not understand how it can be to anyone. At a time when we needed real leadership he told us that it would be magically be gone by April when he knew different. I know this fall after Woodward’s book came out that he said those things because he didn’t want people to panic. I believe that that was another lie. What he didn’t want to do was hurt the strength of the economy which was the platform he was running on. His greatest economy of all time and it cost people’s lives. We have a right to know the truth all the time from our President. Lying to the American people even if is not under oath should not acceptable. I know he is that the first and he won’t be the last. But I will call out any politician who lies to the people and it causes deaths. He lied and people died and I wonder how so many people can find that acceptable.

The hidden tax. Tariffs cause a hidden tax that never really goes away. I hope that Americans are tired of being told fairy tales about why everything costs more. Our elected officials point fingers. Corporations blame supply chains. Commentators blame inflation. The truth is much simpler and infuriating: tariffs are a tax on ordinary people, and the pain does not stop when the policy ends. It sticks. It lingers. It rarely delivers what we were promised. This is the mess we are in now because of the tariffs imposed by the current administration. Tariffs are sold as strength, as toughness – a way to punish governments and to bring back manufacturing jobs. That pitch works on conservatives who want control, moderates who want fairness, progressives who want domestic industry, and politicians trying to get elected. It is a message built to unite. The policy itself does the opposite. It drains the wallets of the very people that it claims to protect. Here is how it actually works. ...
When I was young, I was told that “Sex, Drugs, and Rock n Roll” was going to ruin the country. What I am seeing today is that “Sex, Politicians, and Espionage” is actually what is ruining the country and our democracy. Just think about it. When sex, secrecy, and political power get mixed together, every intelligence service in the world pays attention. The Epstein files aren’t just about a criminal and the rich people that he surrounded himself with. They show how sexual exploitation creates the kind of vulnerabilities foreign governments like Russia dream of. The most uncomfortable part of that truth is that other countries, such as Great Britain, are taking that threat more seriously than we are. Jeffrey Epstein didn’t just commit crimes. He built a system. He targeted vulnerable girls, groomed them, controlled them, and used them to gain access to powerful men. That abuse wasn’t just immoral; it gave him power and leverage. Victims were scared, ashamed, and often silenced. P...
Something I have written many times on social media is that when our Justice Department becomes a tool of the oppressor, we are losing our Democracy. Dictators have always used the Justice Department to oppress the people. Germany had its Gestapo and the SS, which were used to kill millions. Stalin had his NKVD, which would later become the KGB, that he used to kill millions and consolidate his power. China has its Chenguang, which is known for its violent methods. That is how things work in a country that is run by a dictator.   They use their personal Justice Departments to suppress and eliminate threats to their power. Is that now what is happening in this country? I swear, Trump wants to be just like the Communist and Fascist dictators. Trump seems to want to use our Justice Department more as his personal goon squad than a department that serves the people. He is starting with ICE. ICE is an agency that was formed after 9/11 and put under the Department of Homeland Se...
