The Supreme Court ruled to block restrictions on religious gatherings. It put religion assembly before people’s health. The fact that many churches put themselves before the health of its own parishioners is very telling. What it tells me is that they put money before souls. They put greed before salvation. They have put lies before truths. I have seen posted that God will protect me from the virus. Some of these same churches have said that you don’t have to wear a mask because God will protect you. These may be some people’s beliefs but then as we have seen in last four years many people believe the lies.

Those institutions have compared themselves to essential workers like they are just as important to functioning society as let’s say nurses and firefighters. Nurses and firefighters save lives. Grocery clerks have died doing their essential job. By people continuing to assemble, when it isn’t necessary, just makes the lives of the really essential worker more stressful and dangerous. Do you really think that is what Jesus would want you to do? Wasn’t he the guy that wanted you to put your neighbor before yourself?

Readers Digest in October did an article on the 6 places you’re most likely to catch the Corona Virus: Bars and Restaurants, Beaches, Places of Worship, Gyms and Fitness Centers, Family Gatherings, and Nursing Homes. There right in the middle is Places of Worship. Churches want to stay open and take in money even though they know that people will die. I wonder what Jesus would think of that. It is not about saving souls. With today’s technology there are many ways to communicate with people without them having to assemble in one place so you can pass around the collection basket. I would think that people’s lives would rate a little higher than that. One of few times that I know of that Jesus got angry was when the temple was being used for money and greed.

The Supreme Court did not uphold the right of people to worship. That can be done many ways without putting people’s lives at risk. What they did was put religious greed in front of peoples live.

This is my continued search on whether Trump has the Character to be President. A person I know stated “His character matters bc it is in the character I believe he has the leadership, knowledge, wisdom, experience, compassion, integrity that will lead us on the path towards a more safe, secure, healthy, prosperous, free world than the direction we are headed.” My last blog looked at his character as integrity from a legal standpoint before he even was elected President. From a legal standpoint there is no way I would have thought he had the integrity to be President.   I will tell you that I am no Christian, but I will tell you that I was raised in a Christian household. I was baptized, went to Sunday School, was Confirmed, and attended church into adulthood. Because of that upbringing, I still think about the morals I learned from that religious upbringing. To this day, I judge right and wrong by what I learned in that church. There has been a little bit of a dispute between The Pope of the Catholic Church, the Trump administration, the deportations, and Catholic convert Vance and his use of the concept from the medieval Catholic theology known in Latin as “Ordo Amoris”. I guess Vance has said the concept delineates a hierarchy of care – to family first, followed by neighbor, community, fellow citizen, and lastly those elsewhere.
