Number 3 on my journey Is the Right to Equal Justice.  This one has been debated for longer than I have been alive and I am 67. In a nut shell, of course, there is not equal justice. I don’t think that there ever has been. It is a lofty goal but it may be impossible to reach. If you Google Money and Equal Justice you will get a ton of hits and most of them are not positive. This is one of many good sites that discuss this very subject.

This may actually sometimes be more of a money thing than a race thing. Why is looks more like a race thing is because the disparity between the income of the races. A rich black person can dodge justice just like a rich white person. Look at O J Simpson and the legal team that not many of us could afford. Did he get off because of the truth or did he get off because he could afford the best. Money does talk and when it talks people listen.

 In that last paragraph I wrote it may be more of a money thing than a race thing is only when there money is involved. A lot of times it is because of race perception, what some people call white privilege. In the case of Jenny Cudd It could be very easily argued that white privilege was involved in the courts decision. Here you have a person that stormed the Capital, helped break in to the Speakers office,  and stated she had no regrets and is possibly looking at jail time. She petitioned the court and she was allowed to go to Mexico on vacation. Now be honest with yourself. What do you think would have happened if a poor Black or Hispanic person had made the same request?  That is not a good look for the courts or for justice. Riley Williams stole the laptop for Nancy Pelosi’s office and tried to sell it to the Russians. The Russians! Now that is not only insurrection that is treason. I don’t care what her age was or anything. That is treason. Now a Judge released her to the custody of her parents. Now this is not equality under the law.  White privilege is a real thing and our courts are not color blind. Why is it that when we see a black person we feel that they are more of a threat than a white person? This site is a short and a very good read. 

How do you end get justice under the law for everyone. That is the million dollar question that I seem to not be able to find a real easy answer. This is a good read. It discusses many of the failure including Political Failures and Judicial Failures in the quest for equal justice. When I Goolged how to end unequal justice mostly what I got was the problems and not the solutions. All through my lifetime if have seen protests and yes, riots, demanding equal justice. 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010’s and still 2020’s. Why is there no solution?

I was born into white privilege. All of the schools I attended were integrated and I had black friends but I still had a better lifestyle than most. Racism has been in the fabric of this country since the beginning. I once called myself a recovering racist. I grew up in a racist time in the 50s and 60s and I have watched not much change since. I know people will point out other people’s racism but I am only responsible for mine. I can only fix mine You have to fix your own.

This is my continued search on whether Trump has the Character to be President. A person I know stated “His character matters bc it is in the character I believe he has the leadership, knowledge, wisdom, experience, compassion, integrity that will lead us on the path towards a more safe, secure, healthy, prosperous, free world than the direction we are headed.” My last blog looked at his character as integrity from a legal standpoint before he even was elected President. From a legal standpoint there is no way I would have thought he had the integrity to be President. Now I will look at some of his Moral Integrity and Compassion that should be there from the man that sits in the White House.  I have to say something about Donald Trump, he sure is a believer in the institution of marriage.   It is a new game but it is still being played just like the old one. Biden has chosen not to run for a 2 nd term and it looks like Kamala Harris will get the Democratic nomination. This drastically changes what the election will look like. Instead of two old white guys facing one another we will have a woman that is 19 years younger than the Republican nominee Donald Trump. Donald Trump went from saying Biden was too old and senile even though he was only three years younger than Biden to the old guy that appears to be too old and senile. Since Biden’s debate performance he had been under a considerable amount of pressure to drop out of the race. I have admitted in a past post when Biden came on stage he looked frail and in the beginning of the debate Trump’s tactics really confused Biden.
