Misinformation is what is driving our country apart. I know that and you know that too. The internet can be a great tool for fighting misinformation but is also a tool to use to spread misinformation. Misinformation has been a powerful tool to try and subvert our elections. It has also been used to attack the credibility of whistle blowers such as the case of Christine Blasey one of the accusers of Brent Kavanaugh. Misinformation is used to make sure we do not make the right decision. Who benefits? Not the people of the United States unfortunately.

In the 2016 there was a ton of misinformation trying to and in my mind successfully influencing our presidential election. Our own intelligence agencies stated that there was Russian interference in the election. What was the President’s reaction? To do nothing. To say he believed Putin over our own intelligence agencies. He had a chance to be the protector of our democracy instead he did nothing so it could happen again. He had a real chance to make our country stronger instead he weakened it. That one thing to me is the biggest failure of the Trump administration. It was a failure to protect our democracy. The Republican controlled Senate had the same chance but also chose to weaken America in order to preserve their power base.  I find it hard to believe that he was a Russian puppet but I wonder if there were a few around him giving him advice. When it came to Russia he didn’t make very sound decisions in my opinion like turning our backs on the Kurds.

From 2016 to now I have just seen the misinformation news media grow. As the alt-right media has grown I have turned more and more to the legitimate news outlets on the internet. I like to read my news and make up my own mind. I do use Facebook and Twitter but still always research my opinion. I want to support media that search for the truth. My problem is that the truth seems to be more left than right. It didn’t always been that way. I remember when Bill Clinton was President the Clintons complained a lot about the media. Now who were they complaining about? The same news media outlets that Trump complained about. Fox News didn’t even exist back then. Attacking the mainstream news media is how misinformation begins in my opinion. Now do I always think that the mainstream news is fair? Of course not. It not written to make me happy it is written to keep the masses informed. Of course one problem with all news media it is also expected to make a profit so many times it is too sensationalized just to make that profit. We have to be smart enough to filter through the bull.

Now who wins with all the misinformation? Do the Republicans win? Do the Democrats win? Do the American People Win? My answer to all these questions in no. Misinformation is meant to weaken all of us. Misinformation is meant to divide not unite. Who wins with a divided USA? Not our Allies. Misinformation just weakens us when they want to look for a true leader. People do not want to follow liars.  So who really benefits? Our so called enemies? Russia? Putin? Why do we as a people want to strengthen the people that want to destroy us? That would be a good question to all the supporters of the Jan 6th insurrection.  So Ron Johnson why do you want to weaken our country and strengthen our enemies? So, Marc Rubio what are you doing to strengthen our country from within? What are you doing to fight the misinformation that is weakening this nation?

Misinformation is meant to destroy us as a nation. Its true purpose is to subvert our constitution. Misinformation has been used to destroy many cultures in history, Misinformation led to the murdering of 6 million Jews by Nazi Germany. Misinformation was even used to prosecute Jesus.   Misinformation is a threat to us all and only we can do something about searching for the truth. By trying to identifying people that want to divide us. Believe in your eyes. When you see a policeman kneeling on a man’s neck for nine minutes with our own eyes believe it. When you see White supremists storming the capital believe it. When you see Black Lives Matter Protesters fighting with police believe it. Look at the problem honestly and look for the solutions the same way, honestly. We need to put our hatred behind us and search for truth that will unite us. The lying has to stop.

This is my continued search on whether Trump has the Character to be President. A person I know stated “His character matters bc it is in the character I believe he has the leadership, knowledge, wisdom, experience, compassion, integrity that will lead us on the path towards a more safe, secure, healthy, prosperous, free world than the direction we are headed.” My last blog looked at his character as integrity from a legal standpoint before he even was elected President. From a legal standpoint there is no way I would have thought he had the integrity to be President.   I will tell you that I am no Christian, but I will tell you that I was raised in a Christian household. I was baptized, went to Sunday School, was Confirmed, and attended church into adulthood. Because of that upbringing, I still think about the morals I learned from that religious upbringing. To this day, I judge right and wrong by what I learned in that church.
