We need to honor our heroes. This country has had a tradition of honoring our heroes, especially the ones that have protected democracy. This week the Congress voted on giving medals to the Capital Police for their role in defending democracy during the insurrection. This one should be a no brainer. There were 21 members of Congress that voted against the heroes of the insurrection. The 21 are:  Andy Biggs of Arizona, Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Andrew Clyde of Georgia, Michael Cloud of Texas, Warren Davidson of Ohio, Matt Gaetz of Florida, Louie Gohmert of Texas, Bob Good of Virginia, Paul Gosar of Arizona, Marjorie Greene of Georgia, Andy Harris of Maryland, Jody Hice of Georgia, Tomas Massie of Kentucky, Mary Miller of  Illinois, Barry Moore of Alabama, Ralph Norman of South Carolina, Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, John Rose of Tennessee, Matt Rosendale of Montana, Chip Roy of Texas, and Greg Steube of Florida. I had to type them all so they will be etched into my memory and I hope they are etched into yours.  History will remember this vote and those that did not honor our men in blue that actually saved some of their lives. The once proud party of law and order, the Republican Party has now become the party of the insurrection. Where have all the Republican patriots gone. Sad!

Most of us have experienced having a hero in our life. Mine is my wife and a Police Officer. Almost four years ago I had a heart attack on my front lawn. My wife called 911 and immediately began chest progressions. My heart had stopped so technically I was dead. The first to arrive at the scene was a police officer who upon arrival took over the chest compressions from my wife. It took the EMTs 6 min. to get there so my wife with the help of the police officer saved my life. 3 days later I was awakened in the ICU of the hospital and 3 days after that heart surgery and a long recover, but recover I did. Every day I look at that scar and think about the all the people that made it possible for me to still be here. My wife has a very grateful husband though I have to tell you I got the best of that deal. The police officer got a well deserved letter of commendation for helping save my life. Our heroes should be honored. Those 21 members of Congress that voted against the medal will be remembered for not supporting the heroes that may have saved their lives.  Every day those 21 along with the other members of Congress should remember and give thanks to those brave few.

As I stated in the first paragraph this nation has a tradition of honoring our Heroes of Democracy. Memorial Day. Veterans Day. I would like to propose we have a National Holliday to vote and name that holiday after the Capital Police. When our Capital was breached and our leader in the White House delayed doing anything and the military delayed doing anything, those few stood their ground. Those few were not the Marines. Those few were the Capital Police. As I always state and will continue to state in today’s digital times all the evidence will be there for future generations to study and learn from. The Capital Police did themselves proud and will be remembered proudly by generations yet so come. Those that have dishonored the Capital Police will be remembered for generations as just that. Ungrateful politicians that put party before country.

Now I am going to change the subject a little because I think that this is important. A GOP candidate in Florida was secretly recorded threatening to send a Russian and Ukrainian hit squid to take out an opponent. He is not talking about a local gang hit or a mob hit. He is talking about a foreign hit squad being hired to take out a political opponent. He also mentioned access to foreign money to help him. What in the hell is the Republican Party in Florida becoming? A Russian hit squad operating in the United States to help a Republican Candidate for Congress take out another candidate and saying that some have to be sacrificed for the good of the people? What in the hell does that mean. The good of what people? I hope that this is just some crazy guy talking out of the top of his head but the guy has actually taken out nomination papers indicating that he is going to run for office. What a campaign slogan. “Vote for me or meet my Russian hit squad.” Is this the indication of what politics in the United States will become? Is that the indication what the Republican Party has become. I sure hope the FBI is involved with that one.

  We are a fascist state when we have ICE agents not in uniforms and hiding their faces behind masks. That is right. We have a law enforcement agency that is running around more like the Gestapo of Nazi Germany than what we are supposed to have and what is valued in America. We are sending not only undocumented immigrants but also asylum seekers and foreigners on student visas to detention camps here and on foreign soil. They are just being snatched off the streets with no due process. This is not the America I grew up in. This is nowhere to be found in the religion I learned and practiced in my youth. This is like fascism. Every day, we seem to hear the term “Extreme Left Judges.” It doesn’t matter whether it is a judge appointed by a Republican president or a Democratic president. If that judge disagrees with any of Trump's executive orders, he or she is being branded as a “Radical Judge”.   American exceptionalism, we have always heard about American exceptionalism. To be honest with you I never understood what that meant. What are we exceptional at? Sports? Are we exceptional because we produce the greatest athletes? Music? Are we exceptional because we produce the greatest musicians? Because we have the greatest Army in the world?
