What a week it has been but I guess you can say that just about every week now. The filibuster is still intact. The Republicans are still playing down the insurrection. The pillow guy says that the Supreme Court by a 9 to 0 count will be reinstating Trump as President. Barr and the DOJ were illegally monitoring certain people in the news media. I do not know why this is surprising me. I lived through the Nixon administration.

Now, the filibuster is a way for the minority to stop the majority of passing legislation. Is that a good thing? I don’t really know for sure. It depends on who is do in the filibustering and if you agree with them. I will say that the filibuster is not part of the Constitution. Our forefathers did not set the voting process with the filibuster; a simple majority was the good enough for them. I remember the movie Mr. Smith Goes To Washington. Jimmy Stewart’s character tries to stop legislation on the floor by continually speaking and not giving up the floor. The filibuster is not that hard now. I may be wrong but it seems like one party just invokes the rule and presto filibuster. Right now we have a Minority Leader that has stated that his sole purpose is to defeat Presidents Biden’s agenda. How can that be good for the country? How can you have bipartisanship? The people elected Biden to do the things that he is doing but the Minority Leader is obstructing it. The people have spoken and the people are being ignored. That folks is not democracy at work.

So let me see here. A bunch of tourist did one and one half million dollars of damage to the Capital building. They better start charging admission. I can make jokes about it but really it is not very funny. It is hard to believe that someone that ran for their life can now say it was just tourist. Folks the lying and misinformation has to stop. It is just damaging our country more. Why do the Republicans want to damage the country more? Because they lost an election? I am 68 years old and have seen both sides’ lose elections and this didn’t happen. When people thought and many still do believe that Al Gore had his election stolen this did not happen. Al Gore helped unite us as a nation and he conceded the election. Why? Maybe for unity? Maybe he put the country first? Who is putting the country first now? It sure ain’t Mitch. In times of need great men have step up and did great things. This is sure that is not the case here. Party before country should never be the motto.

Ok, the My Pillow Guy. Is he getting a lot of free advertizing or what? He even has Rudy Giuliani hawking is wares. He is like that old carnival barker selling snake oil and people believe this guy. They must be putting some type of brainwashing drugs on his pillows and slippers and stuff to make people believe him. He is now stating the Trump is going to be reinstated in August. He has evidence that he will present to the Supreme Court that will convince them to vote 9 to 0 to reinstate Trump. Where in the hell is that in the Constitution? The real problem is that there will be people that believe him and will be that much angrier when it does not happen. As I keep on saying the lying has to stop. The American people do not benefit from all this lying. It just makes our nation weaker. Why do people want to make our nation weaker and who does in really benefit? That is the question everyone in the nation should be asking.

Our constitution guarantees the freedom of the press. Period, end of story. Now Trump is not the first President to try to use the power of the office to destroy the Press. Just look up Nixon and you will see a real monster when it came to the free press. Just like Trump, Nixon created his own problems. Do you think that Trump was the only President to threaten to sue the press? Nixon did over the name Tricky Dickey. Hillary and Bill Clinton constantly complained about the press and how they were unfair to them. The real problem I have now is the fact that the Trump administration was so successful with demonizing the press. Of course he had help. He had Fox News. It is the press’s job to question our politicians. Not just the Democrats but the Republicans too. In many of the cases it was the same people criticizing the Clintons that were criticizing the Trumps. Same press different reaction from the people. Why? I believe Fox News. I believe that Fox News is more of a propaganda machine for Trump and at times Putin. They help demonizes legitimate news organizations.

So what do I do? I read my news. It is amazing what a simple education can do. It taught me read. It taught me to think for myself. It also taught me to write though, at times, I do that poorly. I do not let other people tell me what to think. I was taught right from wrong by my parents, the schools and the church.  Some people are just not being taught right from wrong anymore. Not from their parents, not from the schools and definitely not by the church.

On Saturday, I was looking at Facebook and a person I was friends with, in fact, someone I went to High School with, posted something I knew was wrong. The post claimed that four lawmakers in Colorado decided jail time shouldn’t be mandatory for people who committed sexual assault of children. She claimed they were pedophile protectors. I opened up Perplexity and asked about the situation, and this is the reply I got back: You’re referring to a recent controversy in Colorado over a proposed bill that would change sentencing rules for certain sex crimes. Here are the verified facts to clarify what’s actually happening: • In early 2026, the Colorado House Judiciary Committee held a vote on a sentencing reform bill that aimed to give judges more discretion in certain felony cases. • Some lawmakers voted against an amendment that would have made mandatory prison sentences apply to all sex crimes, including child sexual assault, preferring instead to let judges determine sentences...
Dove or hawk? Donald Trump ran for President promising to end “endless wars”, avoid new ones, and put American families first. He cast himself as an outsider who would bring peace – the only candidate who wouldn’t drag America into another conflict. The message worked because let's face it, after so many years in Iraq and Afghanistan, America was tired of war. As a country, we were all tired of War. The country wanted stability, not another generation of men and women sent into danger. But once in office, he governed very differently. He governed like a Hawk, quick to threaten, quick to escalate, and willing to use both bombs and tariffs as weapons. What was missing wasn’t just consistency. It was an honor: the sense of responsibility and restraint that should come with the power to risk other people's sons and daughters. This isn’t about ideology. It's about whether someone who promised peace, but repeatedly chooses confrontation, can still claim to be a “dove”. A core...
There’s a simple way to judge a country: look at whose lives it protects, and whose lives it’s willing to forget. For years now, we’ve heard the phrase “All Lives Matter.” It sounds fair. It sounds equal. It sounds like common sense. But a country doesn’t reveal its values through slogans. It reveals them through actions, through the lives it defends, the lives it ignores, and the lives it quietly pushes out of sight. And lately, America has been doing a whole lot of looking away. When Black Americans said they were being killed during traffic stops and routine encounters, the response from many leaders wasn’t concern; it was irritation. Instead of saying, “Let’s fix the problem so fewer people die,” we heard “Blue Lives Matter,” “Stop resisting,” and “BLM is a terrorist group.” A man died in a chokehold on camera. We all saw, from the beginning to the end. It was like a modern-day lynching. Millions marched peacefully. The answer from those in power was “law and order,” and “...
