I know what personal morals are. Well, at least I know what my personal morals are. I try to live by them but like most people I do not have a perfect past. I would never want to run for public office and have my whole life examined like I was under a microscope. How many of us could? How much of a right to know, do we have on our political figures? In today’s digital age what is printed true or untrue will spread like wild fire. The burden of truth seems to fall more and more on the reader and not on the writer. How many of us are going to take the time to research everything our favorite Politician has to say? How many of us are going to sit there at our computer fact checking everything that we watch on the news. That is the problem today, we have so much information that it is hard to know who is telling the truth and who is not.

I was born in 1953 so I have seen my share of recent history. Being a teenager during the Vietnam
War leaves some pretty strong opinions of truth in government. The American Government was not very truthful to the American public. The government made it appears that we were winning a war that we could never win. A war that I didn’t  even think we understood.  I remember how the Military would release these daily body count of how many of the enemy we had killed the day before. I remember thinking that the enemy had to be running out of soldiers eventually. Well the enemy didn’t run out of soldiers and we were not winning the war. Our government hid the truth from the American people. There were both a Democrat and a Republican President during that time so it wasn’t a party problem. It was a government problem. A government that did not want to be responsible to the people. Many things have been hid from the people since then. The Iran-Contra affair under Reagan where the we sold arms to Iran to funnel money into the Contras in Nicaragua. This was all done behind back of the American Congress and the American people. We had the many lies that got us into Iraq and we are suffering from those lies still today. When our government lies the American People suffer and many times die.

Does the public have to right to know everything? Yes and no. Did we have a right to know that a President had oral sex in the Oval Room? I wrestle with that one. Will a man that cheats on his wife cheat on his country? Maybe. Do we have a right to demand the moral integrity that some expect from our government officials? If the answer is yes than that standard has to be the same for both parties and not just the Democrats. Democrats like Al Franken and Anthony Weiner resign from their scandals and Republicans like Matt Geatz and Jim Jordon and just ignore them. The same people that said that Clinton was a terrible husband were saying that what Trump did was none of our business. For some of us our morals change with who is in office. I have a real problem with that.

One problem I have is when the lying and misinformation kills people. They lied about Vietnam and many brave American soldiers died. Where was the accountability? There was none.  George W. Bush lied to the American people about Iraq and many people died from that lie. Not only Iraqi’s but also brave American Soldiers sent there because of a lie. Where is the accountability on that one. There was none. Trump lies about Covid 19 and people have died. American people that many should be alive today are now dead. Where is the accountability. There was none. Many Republicans are lying about the vaccine even though they themselves have taken it. They brag that the CDC and Biden Administration have not met their goals. People are dying as they brag. Where is the accountability. There is none, yet people are dying.

So I come back to the morals of this nation of ours. A president lies to us about oral sex and it is a national scandal. They impeach him for lying to Congress under oath. He lied and there is no doubt about it. Now no one died from that. What about the lies that have cost American lives. Are they ok? Are their lives not worth the accountability of our government officials that have caused their death. Are our morals so warped that a little sex in the Oval Office is worse that hundreds of thousand lives? Why are we letting these Government Officials throw up smoke screens to deflect the attention away for them so they are not held  accountable. Those causing the deaths of hundreds of thousand people should never be deflected by other issues like Critical Race Theory or abortion.

Our morals as a nation should be those that protect the American Citizens from the lies that cause the death of our fellow citizens. When our Presidents and other government officials talk they should be treated like they are always under oath. They lying and misinformation not only strengthening our enemies but it is also killing many of Americans. Who benefits? Not America that is for sure.

This is my continued search on whether Trump has the Character to be President. A person I know stated “His character matters bc it is in the character I believe he has the leadership, knowledge, wisdom, experience, compassion, integrity that will lead us on the path towards a more safe, secure, healthy, prosperous, free world than the direction we are headed.” My last blog looked at his character as integrity from a legal standpoint before he even was elected President. From a legal standpoint there is no way I would have thought he had the integrity to be President. Now I will look at some of his Moral Integrity and Compassion that should be there from the man that sits in the White House.  I have to say something about Donald Trump, he sure is a believer in the institution of marriage. He likes marriage so much that he has said “I do” three times. What his problem with marriage is the actual vow that he has to take. You know that love, honor, and cherish until death do us part. ...
  It is a new game but it is still being played just like the old one. Biden has chosen not to run for a 2 nd term and it looks like Kamala Harris will get the Democratic nomination. This drastically changes what the election will look like. Instead of two old white guys facing one another we will have a woman that is 19 years younger than the Republican nominee Donald Trump. Donald Trump went from saying Biden was too old and senile even though he was only three years younger than Biden to the old guy that appears to be too old and senile. Since Biden’s debate performance he had been under a considerable amount of pressure to drop out of the race. I have admitted in a past post when Biden came on stage he looked frail and in the beginning of the debate Trump’s tactics really confused Biden.
