As some of you know I live in the beautiful state of Florida. If you are a person that loves the water and hates the snow this is a place for you. I love the water and as a kid growing up in Wisconsin I used to love snow, as an old man not as much so we packed up everything and  moved. I have been too many beautiful places in this country from Acadia to Yellowstone but my favorite sight is from the top of the Sanibel Causeway bridge looking out over San Carlos Bay toward Pine Island Sound. I just find it an amazing sight that I never get tired of. Is that sight going to last forever?  If you research climate change the future of states like Florida may be in for some dark days that it may not be able to recover from.

Climate change is going to be a serious problem for the whole world but Florida will be a disaster as will other coastal communities. More powerful storms will just bring more damage. Yes, we can rebuild but if insurance companies won’t insure you, can you afford to rebuild? Of the top ten states for the most expensive insurance rates for home owners four are Gulf Coast States. Every year our HOA fees go up and one of the reasons is because of insurance rates going up yearly. Remember in a capitalistic system what drives the system is profit. Insurance Companies are not going to go broke because they want to be nice guys. No profit, no insurance company. That is how capitalism works. As our storms get stronger and as our storms get more frequent the more insurance is going to cost. If people are not concerned of climate change they are either ignorant or power hungry and the power hungry people will take advantage of the ignorant to maintain their power. Hate to say this but that makes it seem like I am talking about DeSantis.

DeSantis has now proposes 270 million dollars to help fortify our roads, bridges and communities for rising water levels. That is great but he is still saying the climate change is left-wing stuff. Gee he proposes 270 million dollars to fight the rising seas and then calls climate change left-wing stuff. What does he think is driving the melting ice caps and that are causing the sea levels to rise? I know it must be those same lasers that are causing the California wildfires that Greene has talked about. Climate change is not a left-winged thing or a right wings thing, it is a science thing. I don’t even know what left and right is anymore. Things that save people’s lives are left and things that kill people are right? We have to start voting for smarter people. As we dummy down the country we are dummying down our politician’s too.

DeSantis has now proposing a 200 person militia that will answer only to the State of Florida which means it will answer to him. Even though we already have the National Guard his distrust of the Federal Government is what drives him to think we need something different. Plus,  he does love to grandstand. What will a 200 man Florida Militia do? They could never defend us from an invasion. They could respond to national disasters but we already have a National Guard for that and they are much better equipped to help especially when you are integrating the help with federal agencies  like the Coast Guard.  The governor has the ability to call up the National Guard for many reasons including the maintaining of peace and riot control. The problem has to be shared control and he just wants to intimidate people. DeSantis does not seem to be the type of man that wants to share control with anyone and that can be scary at times. I wonder if these guys are going to run around in Black Uniforms to be more intimidating. I could see him calling up his little militia as riot control during a peaceful rally to just intimidate people. Now a person’s Civil Rights are granted by Federal Law not State law. What happens if his little group violates a person’s civil rights? Can our Governor be arrested? Can our Governor be sued? It is going to happen. They are going to violate people’s civil rights.

Some of our politicians are killing people for power. Is DeSantis is one of those politicians? He has done everything in his power to make it harder for us to fight this pandemic. It appears that he has hid and suppressed numbers in dealing with the pandemic. Masks have proven to save lives yet he doesn’t ever encourage for people to voluntarily wear them. Unvaccinated people are dying at a much, much, much higher rate than the people that are vaccinated. He doesn’t encourage people to vaccinate. Power. Our problem is the power is to suppress people.

I have stated many times on twitter the real heroes save lives. Real heroes vaccinate and mask up. Real heroes protect our neighbors. Being a hero is not a left or right thing. It is being a smart thing. It is a caring thing. Let’s add that real heroes care about the environment and all the creatures around us. Trump has never been a hero and DeSantis following in the footsteps of that coward is no hero either.

There’s a simple way to judge a country: look at whose lives it protects, and whose lives it’s willing to forget. For years now, we’ve heard the phrase “All Lives Matter.” It sounds fair. It sounds equal. It sounds like common sense. But a country doesn’t reveal its values through slogans. It reveals them through actions, through the lives it defends, the lives it ignores, and the lives it quietly pushes out of sight. And lately, America has been doing a whole lot of looking away. When Black Americans said they were being killed during traffic stops and routine encounters, the response from many leaders wasn’t concern; it was irritation. Instead of saying, “Let’s fix the problem so fewer people die,” we heard “Blue Lives Matter,” “Stop resisting,” and “BLM is a terrorist group.” A man died in a chokehold on camera. We all saw, from the beginning to the end. It was like a modern-day lynching. Millions marched peacefully. The answer from those in power was “law and order,” and “...
On Saturday, I was looking at Facebook and a person I was friends with, in fact, someone I went to High School with, posted something I knew was wrong. The post claimed that four lawmakers in Colorado decided jail time shouldn’t be mandatory for people who committed sexual assault of children. She claimed they were pedophile protectors. I opened up Perplexity and asked about the situation, and this is the reply I got back: You’re referring to a recent controversy in Colorado over a proposed bill that would change sentencing rules for certain sex crimes. Here are the verified facts to clarify what’s actually happening: • In early 2026, the Colorado House Judiciary Committee held a vote on a sentencing reform bill that aimed to give judges more discretion in certain felony cases. • Some lawmakers voted against an amendment that would have made mandatory prison sentences apply to all sex crimes, including child sexual assault, preferring instead to let judges determine sentences...
Dove or hawk? Donald Trump ran for President promising to end “endless wars”, avoid new ones, and put American families first. He cast himself as an outsider who would bring peace – the only candidate who wouldn’t drag America into another conflict. The message worked because let's face it, after so many years in Iraq and Afghanistan, America was tired of war. As a country, we were all tired of War. The country wanted stability, not another generation of men and women sent into danger. But once in office, he governed very differently. He governed like a Hawk, quick to threaten, quick to escalate, and willing to use both bombs and tariffs as weapons. What was missing wasn’t just consistency. It was an honor: the sense of responsibility and restraint that should come with the power to risk other people's sons and daughters. This isn’t about ideology. It's about whether someone who promised peace, but repeatedly chooses confrontation, can still claim to be a “dove”. A core...
