Our country is moving forward it appears but maybe not as far forward as to make me feel that we are safe from the forces that would bring our Republic to its knees. The lies are still out there and there are people still believing those lies. This is scary stuff that will be studied and written about by historians for centuries to come. How did we get here? How did things fall apart so fast? Did taxing of the rich get us here? Taxes for the rich are the lowest they have been in my lifetime. Is it because of Citizens United? Much of the lying and misinformation that we have been getting started to happen after the Supreme Court opened that flood gate. The result of Citizens United is that it gave the liars a louder voice and has helped silence the truth. Corporations are not people and their goal is not the same as an ordinary citizen. It enabled money to be able to drown out the truth and cloud many an issue. It is these Super Pac’s that have tried to actually discredit real heroes like John Kerry and John McCain. There is a saying that “Money is the root of all evil”; in politics that saying is doubly true.

Garland gave a speech this week on the January 6th insurrection. In my opinion I think that it is because he is feeling a lot of pressure for his lack of movement. It has been over a year and the only people that have been arrested from the insurrection is just the people that had been duped into believing the lies that Trump and almost the entire Republican Party was spreading and is some cases are still spreading. There had to of been a ton of information from the Mueller investigation into the Trump Crime Family that would have made it so he didn’t have to start from scratch. He says that the Jan. 6th insurrection is his number one priority but it has been a year now and the public has seen nothing. All I have seen is light sentences for those that entered the Capitol in hope of putting an unelected man in the White House. They have treated those people more lightly than a black child would be treated for just stealing candy at the corner store. We need real justice that is applied evenly. It will be interesting to see what they do about the people at the Villages in Florida that intentionally voted twice. A black women Crystal Mason was given a 5 years sentence in Texas because she voted by mistake and her vote was never counted. Here you have white people knowingly voting twice to corrupt the election. Will they be treated the same?

Joe Biden has been mostly silent about Trump for the last year always taking the high road instead of engaging in a war of words with the Trump faction. He still thinks that if he does a good job for the American people that it will help unite the country. Obama did a good job for the American people and that got us Trump. Too many people are not going to bother to research whether Biden has lowered unemployment or raised wages. A lot people won’t care that the country is moving forward. It is just easier to listen to the lies that feed their hate. It is easier to watch Fox News and let them tell you what to think instead of actually looking for yourself. Do I know people that watch Fox News? Unfortunately yes. When they talk whether it is about the Democrats or Covid you know that they got their information for Fox News. I don’t watch Fox News or CNN, I read and I observe. I am glad that Biden addressed all the lies that Trump and many Republicans have been spewing but he still cannot get caught up in a war of words with the very people that want to see the destruction of our democracy. He did state that you cannot only love your country when you win which are some of the truest words that any President has ever said.  

How do you heal the hate? Stopping it at its source would be a good start. We need things like the Fairness Doctrine so our news is no longer just a propaganda machine for people with money. We have to get rid of Citizens United because it has nothing to do with uniting anything, it is meant to lie and divide. We have to take systematic racism head on.  Racism is the number one thing that is destroying our country. It may never be completely gone.  We need to make hate speech not part of free speech. That is harder than it sound. Maybe if we just take it away from our News Stations. Much of what people like Tucker Carlson say I consider hate speech. He can scream it on any corner he wants but maybe not over the air waves. I don’t know, that is a hard one but we have to bring truth back to what people watch. The truth should not be a liberal concept.

No President is perfect. My favorite was far from perfect but he was a good man. My favorite is G.H. W Bush which may surprise people. Bush 1 not Bush 2. Yes I know his mistakes, like, giving us Clarence Thomas. They all make mistakes but he was also a good man. Trump on the other hand was a crook before he got elected. A crook while he was in office. A crook after he left office. He has never been a patriot and the people that follow him are not patriots either.  We must never forget that he helped turn our flag into a symbol of hate and suppression. He never embraced the vision of what America is or what it can be. He is just a convicted bigot that feed other peoples bigotry. Do I know people that follow Trump still? Unfortunately, yes.

  We are a fascist state when we have ICE agents not in uniforms and hiding their faces behind masks. That is right. We have a law enforcement agency that is running around more like the Gestapo of Nazi Germany than what we are supposed to have and what is valued in America. We are sending not only undocumented immigrants but also asylum seekers and foreigners on student visas to detention camps here and on foreign soil. They are just being snatched off the streets with no due process. This is not the America I grew up in. This is nowhere to be found in the religion I learned and practiced in my youth. This is like fascism. Every day, we seem to hear the term “Extreme Left Judges.” It doesn’t matter whether it is a judge appointed by a Republican president or a Democratic president. If that judge disagrees with any of Trump's executive orders, he or she is being branded as a “Radical Judge”.   Every elected official swears an oath to defend the Constitution. Not a party. Not a President, nor any individual. Not a social media following. They swear an oath to the Constitution.
