Money, money, and more money. They always say “follow the money” and today it is truer than ever. Money means power. Money makes physically weak people powerful. You have governments and then you have the money behind the governments. Politicians give you the illusion that they are in charge but I always think that the person holding the purse strings is the actual power. For example, when Joe Manchin says “fossil fuels are here to stay” this is something he says because of all the fossil fuel money that comes his way. People know the burning of fossil fuel is a death sentence for our existence on the planet. They say we are killing the planet. That is wrong, what we are doing is killing ourselves. The planet will go on without us when we have made ourselves extinct, yet, Manchin continues to spout about the longevity of fossil fuels so he can continue to “line his pockets”.

We have known that money is the root to all evil for a long time. Money and politics seem to bring on much of the evil. Communistic countries have always talked about the corrupt political systems of the West. Well, guess what our political systems are corrupt. The system is set up to funnel money to our politicians in return for favors. What it really is - legalized bribery. Nothing gets done about climate change because the fossil fuel companies bribe politicians. We still have politicians saying the climate change isn’t real. It gets them more money. The politicians take that money and vote the way the fossil fuel companies want them to. You can say the loser is the planet but the real loser is always you and I. The planet will continue whether we are here or not. Our grandchildren and great grandchildren will suffer because some politicians got bribed.

Now, much of this money is from overseas like the Russians. Rand Paul’s granddaughter’s husband has been arrested for funneling Russian money into the Trump campaign in 2016. Jesse Benton is also a former aide to Senator Paul and also ran the Mitch McConnell 2017 election campaign. It is an interesting read. Yes, when they talk about our corrupt political system they are talking about a system that is taking advantage of Russian money to American Politicians. I wonder what favors that they wanted in return? Billionaires do not give people money if they don’t want anything is return. Foreigners did not give Trump money because they thought he was pretty. The end results are the weakening of our Democracy and our Nation.

Russian Oligarchs have been using our businesses to launder their money. I had read that they control 2000 businesses in the UK alone. Their hands are almost everywhere and we don’t even know it and that is a huge problem. The corruption of our political system is helping destroy our democracy. They always say follow the money and it is the money that is corrupting our system. Laws are passed to protect the multinational conglomerates not the American people. In some cases our tax dollars are even going to these multinational conglomerates. We depend on our government to make sure the American public get a fair shake but we don’t have the lobby that the fossil fuel companies do. As long as our politicians can line their own pockets we the people don’t have a chance.

Billionaires control the news. More and more they are trying to control the ways we think. Murdock and Fox News does that. The worst thing that ever happened for keeping us informed is our News for profit business. News for profit and the truth I don’t think really mix. Fox News is a prime example of that. It is billionaire controlled news that wants to tell you what to think and how to vote. News for profit will prey on your fears and phobias to influence the political agenda of a class of people that would rather have us serve them than they providing a news service to us that we need to make educated choices.

There’s a simple way to judge a country: look at whose lives it protects, and whose lives it’s willing to forget. For years now, we’ve heard the phrase “All Lives Matter.” It sounds fair. It sounds equal. It sounds like common sense. But a country doesn’t reveal its values through slogans. It reveals them through actions, through the lives it defends, the lives it ignores, and the lives it quietly pushes out of sight. And lately, America has been doing a whole lot of looking away. When Black Americans said they were being killed during traffic stops and routine encounters, the response from many leaders wasn’t concern; it was irritation. Instead of saying, “Let’s fix the problem so fewer people die,” we heard “Blue Lives Matter,” “Stop resisting,” and “BLM is a terrorist group.” A man died in a chokehold on camera. We all saw, from the beginning to the end. It was like a modern-day lynching. Millions marched peacefully. The answer from those in power was “law and order,” and “...
Growing up, every morning in school, my whole class would recite the Pledge of Allegiance. As a young man, I thought I was swearing loyalty to a flag, some piece of cloth. As I grew older, I realized that I was swearing loyalty to the Republic and to what that Republic stood for, as defined in the Constitution. I wasn’t swearing loyalty to Eisenhower, Kennedy, or Johnson. I was swearing loyalty to the nation and what it had stood for since the Constitution was ratified. I was swearing loyalty to do what was right. Today, there is a lot of talk about loyalty, but most of it seems to be centered on loyalty to one man. I look at it as loyalty given and the loyalty that Trump didn’t return. Whether it is our service members or our allies, it seems Trump is not living up to the promises this nation has made. Just yesterday, I was reading about Trump saying that he has ordered the scaling back of our participation in the U.S. – ROK exercises that were supposed to be held with South K...
On Saturday, I was looking at Facebook and a person I was friends with, in fact, someone I went to High School with, posted something I knew was wrong. The post claimed that four lawmakers in Colorado decided jail time shouldn’t be mandatory for people who committed sexual assault of children. She claimed they were pedophile protectors. I opened up Perplexity and asked about the situation, and this is the reply I got back: You’re referring to a recent controversy in Colorado over a proposed bill that would change sentencing rules for certain sex crimes. Here are the verified facts to clarify what’s actually happening: • In early 2026, the Colorado House Judiciary Committee held a vote on a sentencing reform bill that aimed to give judges more discretion in certain felony cases. • Some lawmakers voted against an amendment that would have made mandatory prison sentences apply to all sex crimes, including child sexual assault, preferring instead to let judges determine sentences...
