I
always talk about how our democracy is under attack. As I have been reading
this week I find that it may actually be more serious than I thought. We have
what some will call runaway inflation. We seem to be paying more and more at
the pump while the price of oil itself does not reflect the price we are
paying. We have many Republicans of course pointing the fingers at Biden saying
that this is his fault. I saw one person saying that if Trump was still
President his 401K would not have gone down. I think what we have is people not
wanting to fix a problem because it is to their political advantage to have
things go badly. It seems like they feel if they help things to go bad that it
is also to their political advantage. People are made to suffer so people can
claim a political advantage. We have “no let’s work together” to fix anything
because I want to make the other side look as bad as I can. No matter who wins
it is the American people that lose. Politics are what is ruining the American
dream and our Republic.
I have
written before that when it comes to our economy everything starts with oil.
Oil touches everything that we do from the food we eat to the clothes we wear.
That one industry welds a lot of power over our nation and our economy. Too
much power in my opinion. Much of that power comes not from American
corporations but from foreign countries and many of those countries are not
that friendly with us. Because we are so dependent on oil that enables foreign
governments and foreign corporations to manipulate our economy and our
politics. Saudi Arabia murders a journalist and when they are called on it they
just hurt our economy. Remember our prices really started to climb after
Russian hackers disrupted the Colonial Pipeline. Our economy, in the hands of
foreign governments, is not a good thing in my opinion. So why is this Biden’s
fault? Does he really have that much power? Is it his fault because he
questioned the Saudi’s on the murder? Is it his fault that Putin hacked our
pipeline? What has happened in this country where others mean to do us harm and
we blame the other party for political advantage. What is good for America is
not always the goal of many politicians especially in the Republican Party and
we have to vote those people out of office. Of course the problem is not unique
to the Republicans. Look at Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, two Democrats that
do not have the interests of the American people in the forefront of their
decision making. We are made slaves to oil and the countries that control the
oil by the very people that cry freedom during election time. One of the best
things that could happen to our economy is getting all that bribe money out of
Washington.
I
remember when we had runaway inflation back when I first entered the workforce
in 1971. Nixon had inherited a damaged economy for the Vietnam War and the
energy crisis. He passed the Economic Stabilization Act of 1970 that authorized
the President to stabilize prices, rents, wages, salaries, interest rate and
such. What do you think would happen today if a President had the power that
was given and in some cases taken by the Nixon administration today? When I
started working in 1971 I was making 2.92 an hour. The Steelworkers Union had
negotiated a 50 cent an hour wage and we had to wait 6 months for it to be
approved by the Nixon administration. That could never happen today but maybe
it should. Biden inherited a mess just like Nixon did but Biden because of
Covid not a war. People like to blame our President but he really does not have
the power over the oil companies and the economy that were granted to Nixon.
This was all predicted to happen, because of Covid and what it did to the world
supply chain. Instead of working together for the good of the people, politics
are being played and the American people are made to suffer worse. If
Republicans want President Biden to do something about our economy they have to
help give him the power to act. Instead they want to blame a man that has his
hands tied behind his back so they may win more seats.
When
your manufacturing base is sent overseas and you have a worldwide pandemic your
supply chain is going to be devastated. That is not rocket science. The fact
that so much manufacturing left was not caused by Biden. That happened too many
years ago and probably will not be corrected in my lifetime, if ever. We need
people in Washington that will help not make matters worse for political gains.
I can hear people now yelling “What about those Democrats”. I will admit that
some of them should be replaced too but it was the Democrats that warned us
that Covid was going to be a worldwide problem and not just something that
would go away by April. You say they may have exaggerated the truth about Covid
for political gain but did they really? Maybe it was that they gained a
political advantage because the American voter was not being told the truth. A
million people have died from Covid in America and I think almost 7 million
worldwide with over a half a billion cases.
Do we
have a problem with our economy, yes, but blaming the President doesn’t fix a
damn thing or identify that the problems will not occur in the future. The
people blaming the President don’t want to fix the problem; they only want to
win elections and get rich taking bribes.

ReplyDeleteI agree with the majority of what you said.
ReplyDeleteI’m tired of the games both sides play. Right now I’m voting Blue. The Corruption seems to lean to one side and it’s not Blue. Not perfect but workable at least there no knife, poison, gun or dangling paper work at my back.
