I get a lot of interesting replies to my postings on Twitter when I am using it to push out my blog. On the posting on Socialism, a topic that shouldn’t be “scary”, a women who claimed to be an author said I was dead wrong, just ask the people in Cuba, Venezuela, and Yugoslavia. I found that a very interesting statement. I wonder if this author even knew that Yugoslavia broke up 30 years ago. I love comments that make me think but this was not one of them. In my posting I was trying to say that these “scary” social programs like healthcare were not going to turn us into communists and here this lady gives me this list of all the bad things that have happened in Venezuela not the good things that have happened in the Social Democratic countries like Sweden, Norway or Great Britain. I appreciate that the fact that Communism is bad. Venezuela has suppressed the vote. That is never a good thing for a nation. Cuba is just a one party system that really has no choices at the polls.  I am not expert, but the difference that I see between Cuba and Venezuela from Sweden and Norway is that the people have choices and the right to vote. That is the key to any successful Democracy, voting. Voting is something that is always suppressed by tyrannical Government because they are not interested in the will of the people.

I always love the insults that I will receive from some of the more educated people on Twitter. Like DeSantis is protecting us from the liboturds and pedophiles. That doesn’t give me warm and fuzzy feelings about the person who is justifying in this case DeSantis or the people that he is attracting with his message. If your defense is an insult you really do not have a defense. In fact you are probably proving the point of the writer. That is what life on line has become, a place were idiots can prove just how big of an idiot that they are at times. But in defense it is also a place where you can express thoughtful messages that can bring about change. Insults that deprive a person of their dignity is not protected by the 1st amendment but people trying to deprive a person on their dignity is a very common occurrence on a few of the social platforms. Intelligent people debate with intelligent, well thought out statements. Cowards use Social media to hide their lack of intelligence. Insults have just become a way of life in America and I think a lot has to do with the fact that too many people do not value education and of course Trump. I had a Grandfather that did not go very far in school but he was one really smart man and I feel he was very educated. Why? He would read and reading teaches you how to think. There was no such thing as Fox News or CNN telling us what to think so he read his news to stay informed. He read to keep his mind stimulated. It was in my opinion a more civilized time in some respects because people would read and debate. Today people watch Fox News and post insults. Yes, my Grandfather’s generation had its problems like the depression, WW2 and racism but they kept moving forward. Today I just feel that we are moving backwards.

I have been told I was wrong by a few people when it comes to the 2nd Amendment. I am not right all the time but I do research what I write. A person told me I was wrong that the Constitution did not call for a standing army to be created. It does, but with the appropriation to be voted on by Congress every 2 years. That gave Congress the control of the money and money is control. It also gave only Congress the ability to declare war. Our Government from the beginning was about checks and balances. I do understand the abuses of the British with the army taking over people’s personal property to house their troops but still many of the Framers of the Constitution knew that there was a need for security from foreign and domestic threats. What they didn’t want was a King with the power to suppress. They did not want a system of nobility with an army to enforce the will of the nobility onto the people. Not all the Framers agreed because a distrust of government but in the end what you see is the result. I don’t know if the Framers of the Constitution would like what we have now but things do evolve with the times that we live in.

Researching things has really opened up my eyes on issues like the gun control, the 2nd Amendment racism, voter suppression and many important issues affecting us today. Until I started doing my research I had never heard of early militias called Slave Patrols. I have never thought about where our police force evolved from because in the beginning there were no police force. The history of voter suppression is something that everyone should know. There is a world on knowledge out there that people have access to take advantage of. Our libraries are open 24/7 because of the internet so you don’t even have to leave your home. The people that resort to insults are the ones that ruin the social platforms that can help expand ones knowledge and understanding. By the insults that I read I think that people are just more comfortable with their ignorance and prejudice. I love writing my blog and I am trying to do a good job of researching. Am I perfect? Nope! Not even close but at least I am trying. I wish more people would try instead of just watching Fox News. We may have less anger and less violence.

Tommy Tuberville made a comment about Biden eating an ice cream cone in New York City. He posted on X that “Hope @JoeBiden enjoyed going out for ice cream in NYC while the rest of the city is afraid of crime and migrants”. If Senator Tuberville was really an informed and knowledgeable lawmaker he would know that Alabama, the State that he represents in the Senate, has a murder rate that is three times the rate of New York City. I wonder if this is a case of another Republican lying and giving misinformation in an attempt to weaken our nation or is he just a politician that doesn’t have a clue to the real problems that face the nation and the State he is suppose to represent. Maybe it would help if Tuberville actually lived in the State he is supposed to represent. If you believe the Washington Post he actually lives in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. I have been to Santa Rosa Beach and I have to admit it is beautiful there but that should not be an excuse for not living in the State you r
If I was a parent of a handicapped or developmentally disabled child I would be very nervous right now. If I was a parent of a Gay or Tran’s child I would be very nervous. Why? I think that we have a person running for the office of President that thinks that it is ok to mock people with disabilities. President Biden is a stutterer and he has worked hard to overcome that disability. That should be something that should be an inspiration to not only people with disabilities but to the entire nation. He is a man that has risen above his stuttering to achieve remarkable things. By Trump mocking Biden because of his stuttering he is sending a message to the entire country it is ok to bully other people just because they are different or have a disability. Now Biden is a grown man that has had to endure bullying like that all his life and he has come out probably stronger because of it. Not everyone is as strong as Biden. Biden is not the first person that Trump has insulted because a h
Trump’s oath of office, his lawyers are saying that Trump never took an oath to support the Constitution. Why would his lawyers say this? The reason is because the Presidential oath of office does not have the word “Support” in it. The Presidential oath uses the words “Preserve, Protect, and Defend” the Constitution. Why would the Presidential oath not use the word support? Could it be that the President is held to a higher standard than just support the Constitution? I have read that is the reason why that the words “Preserve, Protect and Defend” are used is to show the greater responsibility the President has to the Constitution. I think Trump’s lawyers want us to believe that Trump had less of a responsibility to our Constitution because the word “Support” is not in his oath. I think just the opposite; he had a stronger responsibility and failed at that responsibility, badly. Maybe that is because he never read the Constitution of the United States. Trump’s lawyers also say Sect
