I have been sitting in Door County Wisconsin for the past week and I have always thought of this place as a magical place. For those of us that live near Sanibel Island know what Door County is to Wisconsin is what Sanibel is to Florida. Good shopping, good food, good recreation and of course lots of water. People have worked hard to keep places like Door Country and Sanibel Island the places that create lasting memories that you keep on wanting to return to. I remember a time when Northern Wisconsin and our water and woods were in deep trouble. I remember a time when there was so much pollution in the air that when it rained the water that fell was like poison. It was called acid rain. The rain was polluting our lakes so that it was killing off the fish. In 1970s Richard Nixon created the EPA to help combat things like acid rain.

The Supreme Court has just ruled that the EPA that Nixon created was no longer able to regulate emissions from our Power Plants. The Supreme Court again has shown us that it has a political agenda that has nothing to do with the welfare of our nation or the welfare of the world. Who benefits from  this ruling? Well it certainly is not the American people. Koch Industries and industries like them will benefit but not future generations worldwide. Climate Change is real. The one thing that is driving Climate Change is what we are emitting into our air. The ruling by the Supreme Court could be a death sentence for not only many coastal areas in the United States but it could also be a death sentence for many coastal areas around the world. Yes, the Supreme Court’s ruling affects the entire planet. I don’t think that there is a single person on the Court that is qualified to make a scientific decision that affects the entire planet. Our government and our courts in many cases are bought and paid for the benefit of the few and not for the benefit of the majority of the people. Koch Industries may make money short term but long term it will be the American people that will be pay for the War Against Climate Change. A war, which every day that we do nothing, will get harder and harder to win.

Seas are rising all around the World and as long as the Supreme Court makes rulings like it did with the EPA it just makes it harder to join the World community in the fight against Climate Change. It also makes us look like the greedy capitalist that the Communists have always made us off to be. We put money before life. When the Courts makes a decision on guns like it did it only kills people here is America. When the Courts make a decision on things that affect the climate they are not only killing Americans but also people around the World. Yes, this decision will kill people just like guns. What we breathe in will have long lasting health effects on people and some will die. What we put in the air not only affects what we breathe but it also will affects what we drink and eat. Those darn raindrops will absorb the pollutants and some of those pollutants will be absorbed into the ground the grows our food but also the rivers and lakes where we get our water. When I was younger there was a warning on the amount of fish that a person could consume because of mercury contamination from the emissions from fossil fuels. They didn’t want pregnant women to consume any fish. Those days may just return.

What is driving pollution in America? We all know the answer to that. Greed! The same thing that drives guns. You want to start fighting Climate Change the first thing you have to do is get the money out of Washington. Campaign donations are just bribes. We have to make it so that Industries like Koch Industries and organization like the NRA can no longer give money to buy politician’s votes. When any organization gives a politician money it is not because they think they look pretty, they expect something in return. In the case of fossil fuel companies they want to continue to make money while being able to continue to damage our planet. Short term profit against catastrophic spending in the future really doesn’t make sense. Trillions will have to be spent trying to save our coastal cities in a fight that may just be one that we cannot win.  But, the Trumps of the world will want their property saved. We have drought areas already where they are consuming more water than mother nature can replenish it. What is the future going to lead for those areas and the people that live there. Will it lead to mass relocations to other areas of the nation. If so, are corporations like Koch Industries going to foot the bill. They make huge profits causing the problem but when it comes down to the financial consequences that is caused by their shortsighted profits they will not want to bear any of the responsibility. They will want to make money off trying to find solutions to the problems that they helped create. Who will be footing the bill? Our grandchildren and great grandchildren that’s who.

People like me keep writing that we are destroying our planet. I have to admit that’s not an accurate statement. The earth will probably survive until the sun burns itself out.  What we are probably destroying is our place and the place of many other species that inhabit this planet. It is a foolish thing to destroy the very environment that has enabled us to survive as long as we have.

  1. You are absolutely right and the only thing that is going to save us is justice for those judges that are trying to turn everything upside down.

  2. Couldn't agree with you more than I do already. Apart from exacting justice on the SCOTUS for their horrendous decisions of late, I see the American people as having two (2) choices: 1. Vote for entirely new representation at every level of government (which is going to take years to undo the damage caused by the ones currently in office) 2. A 2nd Revolution with the rewriting of the Constitution.

  3. Seems some who should know, think we are already into the next great extinction....seems our Fed gov wants to help it along

  4. I grew up in those days as a Catholic raised we had to switch to chicken on Friday no longer go to church because of their ways, but you are absolutely right and thank you for trying to wake people up, all your writings are bang on thank you.

Dove or hawk? Donald Trump ran for President promising to end “endless wars”, avoid new ones, and put American families first. He cast himself as an outsider who would bring peace – the only candidate who wouldn’t drag America into another conflict. The message worked because let's face it, after so many years in Iraq and Afghanistan, America was tired of war. As a country, we were all tired of War. The country wanted stability, not another generation of men and women sent into danger. But once in office, he governed very differently. He governed like a Hawk, quick to threaten, quick to escalate, and willing to use both bombs and tariffs as weapons. What was missing wasn’t just consistency. It was an honor: the sense of responsibility and restraint that should come with the power to risk other people's sons and daughters. This isn’t about ideology. It's about whether someone who promised peace, but repeatedly chooses confrontation, can still claim to be a “dove”. A core...
The hidden tax. Tariffs cause a hidden tax that never really goes away. I hope that Americans are tired of being told fairy tales about why everything costs more. Our elected officials point fingers. Corporations blame supply chains. Commentators blame inflation. The truth is much simpler and infuriating: tariffs are a tax on ordinary people, and the pain does not stop when the policy ends. It sticks. It lingers. It rarely delivers what we were promised. This is the mess we are in now because of the tariffs imposed by the current administration. Tariffs are sold as strength, as toughness – a way to punish governments and to bring back manufacturing jobs. That pitch works on conservatives who want control, moderates who want fairness, progressives who want domestic industry, and politicians trying to get elected. It is a message built to unite. The policy itself does the opposite. It drains the wallets of the very people that it claims to protect. Here is how it actually works. ...
When I was young, I was told that “Sex, Drugs, and Rock n Roll” was going to ruin the country. What I am seeing today is that “Sex, Politicians, and Espionage” is actually what is ruining the country and our democracy. Just think about it. When sex, secrecy, and political power get mixed together, every intelligence service in the world pays attention. The Epstein files aren’t just about a criminal and the rich people that he surrounded himself with. They show how sexual exploitation creates the kind of vulnerabilities foreign governments like Russia dream of. The most uncomfortable part of that truth is that other countries, such as Great Britain, are taking that threat more seriously than we are. Jeffrey Epstein didn’t just commit crimes. He built a system. He targeted vulnerable girls, groomed them, controlled them, and used them to gain access to powerful men. That abuse wasn’t just immoral; it gave him power and leverage. Victims were scared, ashamed, and often silenced. P...
