This is how divided a nation we are. Paul Pelosi was attacked by a man with a hammer in his home. He was not the intended victim of the attack. His wife, Nancy Pelosi the Speaker on the House, was the intended victim. The man was willing to wait for Madame Speaker to get home so he could “kneecap” her with that hammer. Her husband was tricky enough to get a call out to the police and when the police arrived the attacker then attacked Paul Pelosi. The attack was so severe that he required surgery for a busted skull. An attack like this on anyone is just horrendous but we have lost sight of what really was happening. This was another planned attack on our Government. The intended victim was the person that is 2^nd in line to the Presidency, the Speaker of the House. Things like this used to unite us as a nation but now our 24 hour news cycle makes controversy out of everything. Facts?, they really are not that important now. We have to spin things. We now see conspiracies in everything. The facts are simple in this case. A man with so much political hate broke into the home of Nancy Pelosi to do her harm. That is the main fact and that is what we need to concentrate on.

A man with so much political hate. That says a lot right there. We know the problem but we don’t know all the whys and how to fix it. Where is all the  political hate coming from? Does it come from the Right? Does it come from the Left? Does it come from both? I think that a lot of it comes from our willingness to embrace the lies. The lie that the election was stolen, that has been the biggest lie that has done the most harm to our nation and it is still being told. Why is it so easy to believe the lie? Is it that we want our hate to be fed. We need to believe those lies to justify our bigotry and hate. We really can’t find anything really wrong with the Democrats so we make up the lie that they are running a pedophile ring with Hillary as their leader? They say Democrats hate Trump so much because he has broken and exposed their sins like the pedophile ring. It is garbage like that that it is making it so much harder to heal this nation. Hate speech is not free speech. To really have free speech there has to be true speech. Do you know what the real reason you have so much hate speech? It is to take your free speech away from you and as the truth gets shouted down by all the hate, our free speech also gets shouted down.

We used to have politicians that would run on their record. The problem with that is you need a record to run on. Too many politicians just don’t have any record at all. I live in Florida. I try and figure out what Marco Rubio has done for the State. I really do not see anything that he has done since I have been here to convince me that he is worthy of my vote. I see a do nothing Senator that will do anything that Trump and the Republicans want him to do. To me he has been a supporter of Trump’s big lie. He has not come out strongly against the attack on our Democratic Process on Jan. 6^th. He likes to tout about the good things that the Infrastructure Bill is doing for Florida when he voted against it. He wouldn’t even support recovery funds for the people that are suffering and will continue to suffer from Hurricane Ian. Is Florida better off with Rubio on the Senate? That is the question that we should be asking. That is the question that we should be asking about all the people running for office not just the Republicans but the Democrats too. Are we better off?  In the case of Rubio the answer, in my opinion, is no. Of course I am judging by what I find important, things like freedom. Freedom of religion and freedom from religion. Freedom of choice. Freedom from big government intruding into my life. I want things that will truly make all of us free. The most important thing for me is an individual that will stand up for the truth. We will not get that from Marco Rubio. By the way, climate change will most likely kill the State of Florida more than any other State in the Union. What do I hear in Florida? Nothing. DeSantis may not have to worry about the Free State of Florida because it may soon be gone.

Violence is now part of the landscape of American politics and it is our social media that is to blame in my opinion. Violence is also part of the political conversation. It just kills me to see an ad that any Senator is weak on crime. What does one Senator have to do about local crime? Now, I do believe that political parties do have an influence on crime. Much of the rhetoric that has come from talk about revolution I think has had a huge effect on crime. Putting a bull’s eye on your opponent’s picture I think does encourage violence. The lying about the violence is also a huge problem. They make it sound like the Black Lives Matter protests were just ignored where the terrorist that attacked our Capitol are being persecuted. There were over 7500 Black Lives Matter protests but only 3.7% had any property damage. By far the majority were peaceful. They make it sound like there was no accountability for the protestors. In the first two weeks alone there were 17000 arrests. Hundreds were charged with looting and burglary. So yes, there were consequences though we are being told that there wasn’t. The lying just creates more division and hate.

Are we the only country that has such a huge problem with disinformation? Probably not but I think we are the worse because our election cycle never ends. People began running for President for 2024 before Biden was even sworn in. We need campaign reform and we need to get the money out of the campaigns. Especially the dark money. Billionaires are trying to use their money to influence our thinking and how we vote. It is the Dark Money that creates all the division and all the hate. Most of the country is going to suffer from all this dark money influencing our elections. It won’t matter if you are right or left because in the end we all will suffer if the American Dream ends.
