Another politician has been caught lying to get elected. George Santos has been caught lying about pretty much about every part if his life, where he went to school, and where he worked. He even lied about his being Jewish. If you read about the guy you will see that he embraces the truth about as much as Trump does. The more I read about him the more I can’t understand why anyone would vote for the man. It looks like he is even wanted for fraud in Brazil. George Santos said that his grandparents were Jewish Ukrainian immigrants that had to escape persecution in the Ukraine is just an outright lie. He says that he is gay. He may be. There are conservative gays. It just makes everything that he says suspect. He has stated that his mother died in the Twin Towers on 9/11. She died of cancer in 2016. This was just another lie. He lied to just get votes. More and more I see that the candidate, and what he really is, means absolutely nothing to the Republican voter. All that matters is that he is a Republican and the hell with everything else. That is why so many Republicans are liars because it doesn’t matter what they say as long as they are Republicans. That is why I no longer vote for Republicans, any Republican. Democrats like Al Franken resigned because of questionable behavior or not so appropriate jokes and humor that may have offended but did not harm anyone. Republicans like George Santos lies and the Republicans are silent.

Differences of opinions do not mean that one side is lying and the other side isn’t. Two people can see a situation and see it two different ways. Biden has said that 5 Capitol police have died because of the Capitol riots. Now it has been pointed out that not a single officer died at the scene which is correct. I personally think though that all 5 Police Officers died because of the Capitol riots. I also do believe that all 5 would be alive today if the Insurrection hadn’t happen. Many will disagree with me but that doesn’t mean that I am lying. All that means is that we have a difference of opinion which is not a sin. Many of us talk in what would be called “grey areas” that are hard to prove or disprove. This is probably truer in politics than anywhere else. Differences of opinions and debate can be healthy. Too many times we will let outright lying be called a difference of opinion.  Outright lying can destroy our Country and too often we have just outright lying from our political leaders.

When a Politician like George Santos lies so flagrantly and the political party like the Republicans are so silent about those lies harms the integrity of the Congress in not only the eyes of the country but also the world. When we sit down and negotiate with another country what are they going to see? Are they going to see someone they can trust or are they going to think that you can’t trust Americans? Our words have to have meaning. Our words have to be trusted. Knowing that Trump wanted to leave NATO and that there are Republican members of Congress that also want to leave NATO how do you think our Allies are going to think of us? I believe it was the Chancellor of Germany that said during the Trump Administration that they could no longer depend on America. I can’t blame anyone for saying a thing like that. We no longer sound like the bastions of Democracy that George W. Bush said that we are. We are no longer the leader that we were when George H. W Bush assembled the coalition of nations that freed Kuwait. Countries wanted to follow America then. Not now. We are a nation divided and weaker because of all the lying.

Many groups are failing America. The one that I blame the most is the press. I don’t care much for the liberal press or the conservative press. How about the truthful press. You had Sean Hannity from Fox News pushing the big steal over the airwaves, on the web and on cable news then he goes before the January 6^th panel and says that he never believed the big lie for one minute. That is a member of the press failing to do his job. That is an entire News Network failing to do their job. That is a member of the press lying for rating points. That is a member of the press weakening our nation. The duty of the press is to inform the America people of the truth not the lies that are meant to destroy our Constitution, the very thing that insures their freedom of the press. Remember it was the press that exposed the corruption of the Nixon Administration. They are suppose to be our avenue to the truth not tools of the oppressors. That only happens in Communist and Fascist countries, I thought. We do not have a State run media for that very issue. Freedom of the press is suppose to help keep the people free not make them ignorant because of their lies.

As a country have we gone from George Washington, “I cannot tell a lie” to politicians that can’t tell the truth? We have had lasers from space causing forest fires in California to Brazilian Immigrant claiming to be Jewish. Maybe Santos built those Jewish Lasers that caused all those forest fires? The Democrats should have caught all of Santo’s lies but then the right would be just say that the Democrats were playing politics. The press should have caught all of Santo’s lies because that is supposed to be their job. Without an honest and impartial press doing their job properly our Democracy just may be lost. The lying and misinformation just weakens our Republic.
