We are approaching the New Year, 2023. I was born in 1953 so that tells you I have seen a lot of history. Eisenhower to Biden and everyone in-between. With everything that I have seen I just don’t understand what is going on. Since the 70s the price of gas has been going up with the whims of the oil companies and with the politics of the Middle East. People are acting like what happened with the price of gas was something that was caused by Biden. I don’t like being held hostage by oil companies and foreign countries that don’t really like us but this is not a new development. It has been happening most of my lifetime. What is a new development is the use of Social Media, mainly Twitter, to allow politicians like Jim Jordan to lie to the American People. The lying is going unchecked and it is going to get worse. I have experienced double digit inflation with high unemployment in the early 70s that makes what we are going through just a little bump in the road. The biggest difference is that we see a political party try to take advantage of the suffering instead of trying to work with the other side to solve it. The Republicans answer is always - cut spending. I am going to be totally honest with you, I believe that you can’t cut taxes and cut spending. All you do is make the country suffer and pass the debt off to the next generation. It may get a Politician’s campaign money and it may get him votes but it is not good for the nation.

Every crisis is turned into some political game that puts the good of the country at risk. In Florida we have a Governor that wants to investigate the Covid vaccine. In my opinion they should be investigating the Governor for the deaths of thousands that died needlessly when they didn’t have to. He portrayed himself as some freedom fighter against the tyranny of wearing a mask that was intended to save people’s lives. In World War I, you didn’t go into battle without a gas mask and the people who did died.  DeSantis thought that it was just fine for the people of Florida to do battle against the virus without the proper of equipment. He made it sound like it was a matter of freedom of choice and that people deserved the freedom to choose if they wore a mask. When a group of students were wearing masks he chastised the group ordering them to take them off. DeSantis is not a person that believes in freedom, not real freedom. Not the freedom that brings about the pursuit of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Just ask any women that wants to have the freedom of control over her own body and medical issues. Just ask the teacher that is trying to teach the truth in her classroom. We are going to hear the word Freedom a lot from DeSantis over the next couple of years but it will be a just a hollow word that will be spoken just to get votes. Suppression and Oppression is more his style and the Free State of Florida is just a myth. The man wants to be President and he is willing to sacrifice anything for it. Climate change will come after Florida, his State first. In fact it is already affecting it and what does he not talk about? Climate Change. Climate Change will destroy the Everglades and as the storms get more powerful they will make our coast inhabitable for future generations but the silence from Tallahassee is deafening.

I saw that Representative Ronny Jackson post on Twitter when the Republicans take control of the House there was going to be accountability. I have no idea what he is going to do but I am pretty sure he will not hold people accountable that wanted to end our Republic and put a non-elected man in the White House. I am pretty sure that he will not hold anyone accountable for the big lie that has ripped our nation apart. What I fear is that it is going to be the Bengasi hearings all over again but this time it will be about some laptop. At a time where the country needs to pull together there are still people that are trying to tear it apart. I keep writing that a divided America is a weaker America but too many Representatives like Ronny Jackson and Jim Jordan just don’t care. That is what they want. They want to divide and weaken us in hopes that it helps them win. That is not good of America, Democracy, or the World. Marjorie Taylor Greene will introduce legislation to impeach President Biden. Why? I don’t think that matters to her. It is not longer what is good for America it is about winning elections. It is no longer about different visions for our Republic. It is about power and money. It is not about law and order it is about owning the law to have the power to suppress the other party.

 The conservative movement is dead. It is being replaced with a version of tyranny that is being practiced in Russia and other countries. Yes, the one party system is not a system where democracy will flourish. It is a system where the Oligarch runs the system by buying politicians and our courts. That is what we get when we let billionaires think that they are more important than the rest of us. When money is the ruler instead of the rule of the law. They are no longer about smaller government; they are about government that is meant to control the masses. History has seen this before. Book banning and the suppression of the truth for the sake of power, rallies meant to demonize whole groups of people. I had hoped that history would not see it again but I am afraid that we are seeing it try and happen again right before our eyes and in our own country. January 6^th was just the start of the insurrection that is occurring still today.
