Can a government really change history? Has it been tried in the past? Sure it has. If you look it up you will see that Hitler even tried to change history by saying Germany won the Great War. I think that leaders that try and run on a Nationalist Agenda tend to do that. Hitler saw his Nationalist Agenda as a way to power. Germany Superiority, the Master Race, his Ten Thousand Year Reich. Those ideas threatened the entire world and led to the attempted extinction of a whole race. Could it happen again? Do not be so naive to think that we as a species have moved beyond such things. The German Nationalist Agenda was a racist agenda that led to millions being put to death because they were impure, inferior to the German people. Could that happen here?  I think that many of you already know the answer to that.

In Florida we have a Governor that wants to rewrite history. Maybe that is not the proper way to put it. Maybe a better way to put it is that he wants to legislate things out of the history books. DeSantis is making a national name for himself by eliminating parts of our history. He calls it Critical Race Theory. I call it American History, not Black history, American History. Blacks have been here just about as long as we have and their history is our history. To eliminate their history from our history books just turns our history into a lie. Blacks have played just as big, if not bigger of a roll in the founding and success of America as any other race. To try and eliminate our sins from our history books just opens us up to repeating them. In Germany the Holocaust is taught to every student. Why because it is history and it is true. The same has to happen here. We are suppose to be one nation not separate nations based on our differences in color, race, religion or sex. In the Pledge of Allegiance we say the words “One Nation Under God” but until we truly embrace those words that pledge has very little meaning. We are a nation of mutts and all of the nationalities that have made up this great nation need to be remembered and embraced in our history books. We should never hide from of sins of slavery and genocide but teach about them so we do not repeat them.

The Republicans used to be about smaller government at least that is what they claimed. Rewriting history is not smaller government. Eliminating Black History claiming that it is teaching Critical Race theory is not smaller government it is oppressive government. When I read what the study of the Critical Race Theory or CRT, as they DeSantis likes to call it, I find many of the arguments thought provoking and as relevant today as they were when the 1619 project was first establish. Critical Race Theory in reality is an academic discussion that analyzes what race had to do with things in our history and laws. Take guns and the 2nd amendment written in 1789. Why is the right for States to form a militia and the right for people to bear arms for that militia an amendment to the Constitution and not part of the original document?  Our Constitution established how the Federal Government could raise an army so why the second amendment? The first thing that someone will say to me, “Hey stupid we just finished fighting the British so we needed to defend ourselves from foreign invasion”. I will give you that one except for the “hey stupid part” because if we were invaded people,  people would have come running to fight if they invaded again. Could there have been another reason? You will say “Hey Stupid,  it was so they could protect their property”. Here again I will give you that one except the “Hey Stupid” part because they had property to defend but was it that they had property to defend or property to oppress?  At the time of our Constitutional Convention Black slaves outnumbered Whites in South Carolina. How did they control that many slaves?  They used what was called, at the time, slave patrols which were  armed militia establish to make sure there was no slave rebellion. Now the man that wrote the 2nd amendment I believe was a slave owner. You will never convince me that a slave rebellion was not one of his biggest concerns back in 1789 considering the Slave rebellion in Haiti eventually toppled the government there. A discussion like that would be considered preaching CRT. If we are going to solve our problems discussions like that are the very thing that has to happen and discussions like these are exactly what politicians like Ted Cruz and Ron DeSantis do not want is to have.

A smaller and less intrusive government does not encroach on our educational freedom and our freedom of speech unless they want to control the masses with the lies. Kings kept their subjects uneducated and dependant on them for knowledge. In many ways so did the Church. History must be shared with everyone. History can only be accurately written by real historians that constantly research and update their finding and shared with the world. History will constantly be changing as research helps us understand the past better. I keep reminding people that in today’s digital age our libraries are basically open now 24/7 so the real history will be there for the ones that want to look for it. Unfortunately, so will many of the lies. It is our job to sort through those lies and it is our educational system that teaches us how to research and sort through the truths and the lies. We cannot solve the problems of the country by suppressing education.

Once the government is involved is when educational oppression begins which is what is happening here in Florida under DeSantis. George Bush’s unfunded mandate of “No Child Left Behind” left many children behind and eventually left many disenchanted with our educational system. A good educational system knows that education never ends and there is no real finish line to reach. We emphasized  the testing of fact and figures to measure children’s successes instead of teaching them how to think. When you begin to suppress intellectual learning, discussion, and research on the High School and University level you are trying to suppress the search for the truth. I wanted my children to be smarter and better educated that I am and they are.

The teaching of the value of a person’s life is not taught in Sunday school. It is taught in the classroom starting in Kindergarten and it continually taught by studying history and continues until the day we die. We must keep learning from our mistakes and learning from the other people around us. Remember, the people that caused the Holocaust were religious people that never learned the value of people’s lives. Many of our White Nationalist people here I fear are the same because they only value what is White.   I am not saying that religion is a bad thing but religion that suppresses the learning of the truth will only lead to more death. Who was it that said “the Truth will set you free”?

There’s a simple way to judge a country: look at whose lives it protects, and whose lives it’s willing to forget. For years now, we’ve heard the phrase “All Lives Matter.” It sounds fair. It sounds equal. It sounds like common sense. But a country doesn’t reveal its values through slogans. It reveals them through actions, through the lives it defends, the lives it ignores, and the lives it quietly pushes out of sight. And lately, America has been doing a whole lot of looking away. When Black Americans said they were being killed during traffic stops and routine encounters, the response from many leaders wasn’t concern; it was irritation. Instead of saying, “Let’s fix the problem so fewer people die,” we heard “Blue Lives Matter,” “Stop resisting,” and “BLM is a terrorist group.” A man died in a chokehold on camera. We all saw, from the beginning to the end. It was like a modern-day lynching. Millions marched peacefully. The answer from those in power was “law and order,” and “...
On Saturday, I was looking at Facebook and a person I was friends with, in fact, someone I went to High School with, posted something I knew was wrong. The post claimed that four lawmakers in Colorado decided jail time shouldn’t be mandatory for people who committed sexual assault of children. She claimed they were pedophile protectors. I opened up Perplexity and asked about the situation, and this is the reply I got back: You’re referring to a recent controversy in Colorado over a proposed bill that would change sentencing rules for certain sex crimes. Here are the verified facts to clarify what’s actually happening: • In early 2026, the Colorado House Judiciary Committee held a vote on a sentencing reform bill that aimed to give judges more discretion in certain felony cases. • Some lawmakers voted against an amendment that would have made mandatory prison sentences apply to all sex crimes, including child sexual assault, preferring instead to let judges determine sentences...
Dove or hawk? Donald Trump ran for President promising to end “endless wars”, avoid new ones, and put American families first. He cast himself as an outsider who would bring peace – the only candidate who wouldn’t drag America into another conflict. The message worked because let's face it, after so many years in Iraq and Afghanistan, America was tired of war. As a country, we were all tired of War. The country wanted stability, not another generation of men and women sent into danger. But once in office, he governed very differently. He governed like a Hawk, quick to threaten, quick to escalate, and willing to use both bombs and tariffs as weapons. What was missing wasn’t just consistency. It was an honor: the sense of responsibility and restraint that should come with the power to risk other people's sons and daughters. This isn’t about ideology. It's about whether someone who promised peace, but repeatedly chooses confrontation, can still claim to be a “dove”. A core...
