Lying, Hate, Racism, Bigotry, Truth and Faith, those are just a few of the words that we hear a lot today. Why? Because those are actually the words that describe what is going on in the country today. We are in a very divided nation and it is all those words and others that divide us. It is sad when Truth and Faith divides us as much as Lying, Hatred, Racism and Bigotry do. Next month I will be turning 70 years old and in that entire time I have very seldom seen the Hatred and Bigotry that divides much to this country today.

 Who benefits from all that Hated and Bigotry that we have today? I know that I don’t. If fact I don’t know a single person that does. Of course I don’t move in the circles with the people that want to have the power over us. That is right, there are people that want to rule, not govern but rule. The very thing that our founding fathers fought is now under attack by people that would rather rule than govern but more important is the people that would rather be ruled. In 1775 they were ruled by someone that they said was appointed by God. In 1776 they said enough, we wish to govern ourselves. We can talk about all the issues that they had with the crown but when it was all said and done they wanted to determine their own destiny and not by someone that claimed to be appointed by God. No King, claiming to be appointed by god, has ever ruled the United States but because of the hatred and bigotry that any type of supremacy brings to the table. MAGA would rather have a King like Trump on the thrown of America which would have nothing to do with making America great.

Most of my life faith was not something that divided our country. It wasn’t until the late 20^th century that I saw that changing within mostly the Republican Party. People’s faith was being turned into a political weapon to force their will upon the non believers so to speak. It was late in the 20^th century that I completely turned my back on the church. I found that it was just another corrupt institution that preyed on the faith of the masses by demonizing anyone that thought differently than they did. I have thought about all that again because Sinead O’Connor has passed away. Many will remember her not by what a tremendous talent she was but because she had the audacity to tear a picture of the Pope John Paul II on Saturday Night Live. The so called leader of the Catholic Church. How dare she. To the Catholic world this was the ultimate sin. She really did nothing wrong but the world demonized her for it and it haunted the rest of her life. I am sorry but the Pope was just a man. I have never understood how anyone was ever appointed by god to rule. One of my favorite pictures that hung in my apartment was a picture of the Pope sitting in a bowl of cornflakes. It was my roommate’s painting. I will not mention who painted it to protect the painter but as I said the Pope is just a man. As I have gotten older and learned more about the Catholic Church and it’s abuses I just can’t defend  someone that didn’t do enough to protect the children of the world from the sexual predators that still exist in the Church. It existed in the Church before he became Pope and it has continued after he died. Pope John Paul II may have said that all life was sacred from conception but he never made it a reality and children are still abused worldwide and also still by the church. He talked the talk but he did not walk the walk. He said Faith says children are sacred but truth shows that they are not. I hate railing on religion so much but over the last 50 years they went from believers in Jesus’s words to no longer even acknowledging that those words ever existed, that may be for another blog. Faith that is built on lies is no faith at all. Faith needs to be built on truths.

Lying is just to prevalent today in politics and especially  the Republican Party.  You can say that the Democrats lie and I am sure some have, but nothing compares to the Republicans. Rudy Giuliani is now admitting that he lied about those two Georgia Poll workers that the Republicans have demonized so badly. Two American citizens that were just doing there civic duty working as poll workers and Rudy decided to single them out as corrupt poll workers without a shred of evidence. He knew it was a lie but he didn’t care. The two women’s lives were made a living hell so Rudy and the Republicans could just sell their big lie. The Republicans were willing to sacrifice two innocent women in their quest for power and to end our Republic. It really wasn’t much different than the Salem Witch trials. The Republican Party’s  cause was for the people to lose faith in our election process by sacrificing those two women. That election process was exactly what our founders fought and died for. Even though the Republicans  lied and Rudy has admitted that he lied he still does not feel that he should be held accountable.

When a Republican like Ted Cruz comes on stage and cries “Freedom” while suppressing and oppressing women and minorities who is he crying freedom for? Suppression and oppression are just the opposite of Freedom and Liberty. Does he truly believe in that word? He uses that word to get votes, not for people’s actual freedoms. Does a man mean like “masculine” Josh Hawley raises his fist like a Black Panther from the 60s? These are men that don’t want to serve their nation. These are men that want the nation to serve them. That spirit of 1776 does not lie within men like them. The spirit of Freedom does not lie in the vision of these men or the party that they support.
