Lying and Misinformation, that is what we have today in an over abundance. In the past we have had things like our “War on Poverty” and our “War on Drugs”. It seems like today that we are having a “War on the Truth”. What we should be having is a “War against Lying”. You know that old adage that if you tell a lie often enough that soon people will think that it is the truth. I think that today too many Politicians and Political groups are doing just that, trying to convince us that the lies are the truth. It is the lies and the misinformation that I truly think is going to be the death of our Republic as we know it. Sadly, I really do not believe that the average person benefits from most of the lies and most are meant to erode our faith in our electoral and judicial systems. Let’s look at some of the lies that people are convinced are the truth.

The biggest lie of course is that the election was stolen. That is one whopper of a lie that over half of the Republican Party has been working very hard to sell to the American public. Trump lost, plain and simple. Trump tried to challenge the results in just about every court in the land and lost. Even after all those losses he is still insisting that the election was stolen. I know a guy that is a retired FBI agent and he said that the FBI has agents that all they do is look for voter fraud. I don’t know this for certain but that is why I feel that the Russian collusion was investigated because it is the FBI’s job to look out for voter fraud and voter interference. I would say that overall law enforcement seems to lean toward Republicans so why would they try, and intentionally try, to make the Republicans look bad. In the midterm elections in Wisconsin, in each of the 13 races, the Police Union backed the Republican candidate. Even after more than 100 Capitol Police were wounded by Republican Supporters, they still fell in step behind the Republicans. Why? That is a great question. One answer is that they feel that Republicans are stronger against crime. I could write a whole paper on that subject and I probably will someday. If I look at the most corrupt Presidencies’ in my lifetime I feel it has been the Republicans that have been the most corrupt. There will be no denying that Nixon was one corrupt President that tried to help hide the break-in at the Watergate. You have Reagan and the Iran Contra Affair. That involved working with the cocaine Drug Cartels that the Contra Rebels were part of. As Reagan fought his “War on Drugs” there are a few people that feel in his Administration where a blind eye was turned to some of the cocaine trafficking that was part of the Contras. That cocaine wound up on the streets of this country. The program some feel went into the George H. W. Bush administration.  I don’t even have to mention The Trump administration, which is probably the most corrupt in the history of our Country. Every time I hear that the Republicans are the party of “Law and Order” I know that it is just a lie to get votes. I feel that the Republican Party has worked to make the job of the police harder, not easier.

Our new Speaker of the House is not above the lies that are some real whoppers. The Speaker said in an interview with the TV channel from the US Capitol. “People misunderstand it. Of course, it comes from a phrase that was in a letter that Jefferson wrote. It’s not in the Constitution.” That is his words not mine.  As usual I went and looked up the 1^st amendment and here is what it say “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” When I look at that, what it says to me is that the Government should stay out of religion period. When someone writes Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof to me the simple way of saying it is the separation of Church and State. For someone to think that our Founding Fathers wanted religion in our government I think that they are not only denying history but they are also lying.

People are still trying to pass of January 6^th as a peaceful demonstration. This is to me another example of a huge lie that is meant to divide the Country for the advantage of the Republican Party. Why would I say that? Because the world, along with me, witnessed it live. We were all glued to our television as history was taking place before our eyes. We saw the windows being smashed and the crowds climbing walls in an effort to breach the Capitol. If you are smashing windows the Capitol Police are not inviting them in. Over 100 Capitol Police were injured. I was in shock with what I was witnessing but I was not the only one witnessing it, the whole world was witnessing it. I was screaming at my television “Where is the National Guard”. If this was a Black Protest the Guard would have been deployed before it began. Basically all of the footage that the January 6^th committee had put together I had seen before. At this point of history of our Country I feel that the Republican Party could have stepped up and shown the whole world what a true American was and how they would always standup and defend our Constitution and American law. At first it sounds like they were going to do just that. Both McCarthy and McConnell stated that they held Trump responsible. After a couple of days they were changing their tune. I heard Republicans say that they were Antifa members disguised as Trump supporters. Remember Antifa members were the ones at the Black Live Matters protest in support against police suppression of minorities. Most were Black so were the Republicans saying that a bunch of black people in white face attacked the Capitol in an effort to make Trump look bad? Another one was it was the FBI dressed like Trump supporters in an effort to make Trump look bad. Do you really believe that the FBI would do that? The head of the FBI was appointed by Trump. Again the lies are meant to weaken us and I think that they have succeeded in weakening us in the eyes of the world and in support of our democracy are home.

This being the Holiday Season I think that I will continue to point out the lies that are being told to the American People. They can be Democratic lies or Republican lies.
