Sometimes you just have to vent. Today may just be one of those days. I was reading how the Republicans in the Florida State Legislature introduced a bill to give Donald Trump five million dollars of Florida’s taxpayers’ money to pay for his defense. DeSantis, our dear Governor, who has been insulted over and over again by Trump but was so big of a coward he was afraid not to endorse Trump, at least had the guts to say he would veto it. Even though it won’t become law it shows the problem with the Republican Party and the Florida Republicans in general. Florida is a State that many of its citizens are suffering from the fury of Mother Nature but, they want to give a billionaire money for his court problems?  I will repeat, our Republican Legislature wanted to give five million dollars to a billionaire for his legal problems. We have a ton of problems here in Florida and none of them have to do with Trump’s legal problems. I would call this putting the needs of the one before the needs of the many but then why would a billionaire need our money anyway.

If you like a little bit of light reading just look at the State of Mississippi Welfare scandal. After you have read about it you will see they really don’t care about the poor and the under privileged in that Republican State. Money, that was designated for those in the most need, was given to those in some cases with the least need. They paid sport celebrities for service performed who never performed those services. They diverted money from the State Welfare System to build a Volleyball Court at Brett Favre’s Alma-mater, Southern Mississippi State,  at his request and it appears that Favre may have known where the money was coming from. Some people may actually say that he knew for sure. Now the great State of Mississippi has refused money that would be designated to provide lunches to under privileged children. You read that much of the nation is outraged. Me? I am not surprised at all. Mississippi wants to keep the underprivileged  under-nourish and poor. They talk like they are Christians but when Jesus said “suffer the children not” they just ignore that part. They want those children to grow up poor, uneducated and hungry so that they will be willing to do those minimum wage jobs. Their Governor doesn’t want Mississippi to become a welfare State for the poor. Mississippi is much more comfortable putting the welfare of the rich first and above all.

Over the last 50 years the Republicans have put many things above the welfare of the nation and the people. In my lifetime it started with the suspected back door dealing by the Nixon campaign negotiating with the North Vietnamese to make sure Johnson wasn’t successful with his negotiations for peace which would have been a big boost for Humphrey in the 1968 election. Many Americans died in Vietnam after 1968 and we should be more outraged by that than with Watergate. Nixon put the Republican Party and his political career before the lives of our young men and before the needs of the nation.

We had Reagan use the Mexican Drug Cartels to help funnel  guns to the Central American Rebels which helped the Drug Cartels to grow stronger and deliver more drugs that continues to kill people in this country every day. We helped destabilize the region that is not any more stabled today. It has also helped contribute to all the people who are trying to escape that death and destruction by those very Drug Cartels that still flourish today. Much if our southern border problem is people that are trying to escape the violence that we played a part in making. We now treat those people as subhuman and that may be the problem. If we would have thought of those people as human and in need of a better life maybe we would have not shipped all those guns down to Central America and maybe concentrated on keeping the Drug Cartels out of this country. It is almost like Nancy Reagan had “Just Say No” and Ronald Reagan was saying “Why Not Say Yes?”. Reagan also negotiated behind Carter’s back with Iran to ensure that the hostages would not be freed while Carter was President. Reagan is a hero to the Republican Party, they even named an airport after him. To me he is anything but a hero because “We The People” was not very important to him.

We talk about how dishonest Trump is but we would have to look at the George W. Bush Presidency to look at someone that could rival any President whose lies cost not just Americans lives but lives all around the Middle East. Two unfunded wars with no plan in place and no real goals to be accomplished. The story when it came to the war in Iraq changed all the time. We were there to defeat Al Qaeda, only to hear Al Qaeda was never there. Then it was to find and destroy the weapons of mass destruction that Iraq had developed and hid. No weapons were ever found. He cost us over 3500 American lives and over 32,000 wounded. The saddest part is the fact the about 460,000 Iraqi deaths were the direct and indirect casualties of the violence of the war. A war that was based on false information and outright lies.

We can talk about all the lies from the Trump administration but my wife always says I shouldn’t make these too long so I will try to hit some of the worst.  One of the worst thing is he negotiated with terrorist and virtually gave Afghanistan back to the Taliban. They were the group that hid the Al Qaeda terrorists that were responsible for 9/11. He actually wanted to bring them to Camp David as guests of the United States Government. There were over 2400 Americans killed by the Taliban with over 20,000 Americans wounded. Trump basically surrendered to terrorists and gave those terrorists back Afghanistan. By the time Biden took office there was only about 2500 Americans left there with no plan for the Biden Administration to follow for the final evacuation . You can argue about our final departure during the Biden Administration but Trump did not leave a plan or the resources to carry anything out properly. We also had Trump, his Oath of Office, and January 6th but I have written a lot about that in the past. Trump lied to the American people and he continues to lie to the American people.

I know that the Democrats have not been perfect but after you begin writing about the Republicans the Democrats begin to look a whole lot better. To me there is only one choice in November and that choice is blue all the way down the board if you really want to put our Country and our Constitution first.

There I have vented enough. I feel better now.

I was well satisfied you put that in. I was a CO in the Vietnam War. And the striking thing when it seemed very few of everyone my age or abouts applied for a CO status. I guess that the momentum of growing up watching WWII fiction rooted us pretty firmly. Life is many things all at once. Maybe that’s why often our roots will rule. Maybe not. IDK.

Tommy Tuberville made a comment about Biden eating an ice cream cone in New York City. He posted on X that “Hope @JoeBiden enjoyed going out for ice cream in NYC while the rest of the city is afraid of crime and migrants”. If Senator Tuberville was really an informed and knowledgeable lawmaker he would know that Alabama, the State that he represents in the Senate, has a murder rate that is three times the rate of New York City. I wonder if this is a case of another Republican lying and giving misinformation in an attempt to weaken our nation or is he just a politician that doesn’t have a clue to the real problems that face the nation and the State he is suppose to represent. Maybe it would help if Tuberville actually lived in the State he is supposed to represent. If you believe the Washington Post he actually lives in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. I have been to Santa Rosa Beach and I have to admit it is beautiful there but that should not be an excuse for not living in the State you r
If I was a parent of a handicapped or developmentally disabled child I would be very nervous right now. If I was a parent of a Gay or Tran’s child I would be very nervous. Why? I think that we have a person running for the office of President that thinks that it is ok to mock people with disabilities. President Biden is a stutterer and he has worked hard to overcome that disability. That should be something that should be an inspiration to not only people with disabilities but to the entire nation. He is a man that has risen above his stuttering to achieve remarkable things. By Trump mocking Biden because of his stuttering he is sending a message to the entire country it is ok to bully other people just because they are different or have a disability. Now Biden is a grown man that has had to endure bullying like that all his life and he has come out probably stronger because of it. Not everyone is as strong as Biden. Biden is not the first person that Trump has insulted because a h
Trump’s oath of office, his lawyers are saying that Trump never took an oath to support the Constitution. Why would his lawyers say this? The reason is because the Presidential oath of office does not have the word “Support” in it. The Presidential oath uses the words “Preserve, Protect, and Defend” the Constitution. Why would the Presidential oath not use the word support? Could it be that the President is held to a higher standard than just support the Constitution? I have read that is the reason why that the words “Preserve, Protect and Defend” are used is to show the greater responsibility the President has to the Constitution. I think Trump’s lawyers want us to believe that Trump had less of a responsibility to our Constitution because the word “Support” is not in his oath. I think just the opposite; he had a stronger responsibility and failed at that responsibility, badly. Maybe that is because he never read the Constitution of the United States. Trump’s lawyers also say Sect
