Let the games begin. We can say now, with certainty, that the next presidential election will be a repeat of 2020. Not exactly what I wanted but here we go again. It is also the time where I watch a lot of the Disney Channel and Netflix so I can avoid all the commercials that just plain lie to the American people. I just hate election season. If someone really wanted to make America Great Again they would shorten the election season. It is almost like the election season never ends. I find it just exhausting. I will continue to read my news and just ignore all those commercials that are meant to divide the nation. Could it be that we are constantly in an election cycle that we wind up not tackling the most important issues.

We have many issues that I feel are the most important ones. The border is going to be the one that gets the most attention but we also have many other pressing issues. I think healthcare should be a big issue along with prescription drugs. Housing and a livable wage should be an issue. Drug abuse and  what can be done to eliminate it should always be high on the list. Honest conversations about the deficit and what actually causes it. Guns and mental health are also two very important issues to me. Another issue that will probably not be a campaign issue is how do we stop the lying and misinformation in the News Media. Why it won’t get the attention that it deserves is because our 24 hr news channels control the news and will not even allow that to be an issue.

The biggest issue that will be talked about especially on Social Media is the battle between Democracy and Fascism. Many will call it the battle between Democracy and Autocracy. I call it Fascism because it is meant for the suppression of the people. Are we to stay a Democracy that empowers the people or are we going to be a Country that is run by Billionaires?  Should money be the power or should the people hold that power. Before our Revolution we were part of a Government that the people with the money held the power. The people of the colonies had no real say in what England decided. That is what I think many Republicans want to bring back. Our Forefathers wrote a Constitution that gave the power to the people. We had checks and balances between the branches of government to no single branch would become too powerful. Today that concept is slowly slipping away. Today it seems greed is what has taken its place. Too many of our elected officials are being bought and paid for by not only rich American Billionaires but by foreign governments like Russia and Saudi Arabia. Since the Supreme Court’s decision on what is known as “Citizens United” money has been pouring into Washington. Every politician talks about draining the swamp but most of them are the ones that survive because they are one of that swamps and become Millionaires themselves. We have a system that Billionaires, foreign and domestic, create millionaire politicians that are beholding to them. Billionaires don’t give money without a return in their investment and many of our politicians are is an investment. Buying a Supreme Court Justice or two is just frosting on the cake.

We need to be looking toward the future and not the past. We can drill all we want but the price of gas will not come down to what we think it should. Supply chain issues and greed are what has caused inflation. As long as greed is a factor in a capitalist system you will not see the price come down. We have to be thinking about what type of future we are leaving behind for our grandchildren and great grandchildren. They are the ones that will be affected the most by what is decided with this election. We can vote for the very things that are destroying the environment or we can start moving forward with new technologies that spur more innovations as civilization moves forward. Will future generations enjoy the same freedoms or fewer freedoms that I have enjoyed or will they be even freer. Having a Universal Healthcare system would enhance our freedom. Being slaves to jobs, because of our need for healthcare does not enhance freedom. Is that in our future? Guns are changing the landscape of the country where policing it is going to be next to impossible in the near future. Guns will never make a free society freer. Guns will only bring chaos to an already free society. They will only suppress an already free society. Are we going to be a country that values the truth or are we going to be a country that suppresses the truth? Free speech was not created to protect the liars; it was created to protect the truth. Suppressing education and science is not protecting our children it is destroying the truth and handicapping them for a prosperous future.

The separation of Church and State is one of the most important issues that will not only affect the future of our children but it will also affect our standing in the World. Forcing ones religious beliefs on your neighbor will harm your relationship with your neighbor. Forcing your religious beliefs on the world will only lead to war and maybe the end of the human race. More people have died in the name of God than anything else. I don’t advocate the abolishment of religion but personal faith should not bring about the destruction of our Country and probably the future destruction of the world. I know that sounds a little bit over the top but just look at history.

This is an important election. It may actually be a turning point for our place in the world. I have more years behind me than a head of me but I hope that I am working for a future that is safe and prosperous for the future generations that will follow me.

  1. Simple answer. Stop helping Republicans get elected. The most successful human rights interests have been addressed & won by a united Democratic Govt. Fact.
    It's been a give/take case of political whiplash every time our Fed, State & Local elections are handed to the Right by 3rd Parties hired & funded by those who aren't in power, but seek to be.
    The Republican Party has always been the party of the wealthy. Personal & Corporate. If you try want a Nation of, by & for the people then Stop helping Republicans get elected.
    Vet thode pishing 3rd Parties, they are owned as well, regardless of the kum-ba-ya campaign message they script.
    Its not that hard. Those 3rd party unknown names suddenly appearing with the answer to all the ills, all have a backstory that needs to be dug into.

This is my continued search on whether Trump has the Character to be President. A person I know stated “His character matters bc it is in the character I believe he has the leadership, knowledge, wisdom, experience, compassion, integrity that will lead us on the path towards a more safe, secure, healthy, prosperous, free world than the direction we are headed.” My last blog looked at his character as integrity from a legal standpoint before he even was elected President. From a legal standpoint there is no way I would have thought he had the integrity to be President.   It is a new game but it is still being played just like the old one. Biden has chosen not to run for a 2 nd term and it looks like Kamala Harris will get the Democratic nomination. This drastically changes what the election will look like. Instead of two old white guys facing one another we will have a woman that is 19 years younger than the Republican nominee Donald Trump. Donald Trump went from saying Biden was too old and senile even though he was only three years younger than Biden to the old guy that appears to be too old and senile. Since Biden’s debate performance he had been under a considerable amount of pressure to drop out of the race. I have admitted in a past post when Biden came on stage he looked frail and in the beginning of the debate Trump’s tactics really confused Biden.
