Tommy Tuberville made a comment about Biden eating an ice cream cone in New York City. He posted on X that “Hope @JoeBiden enjoyed going out for ice cream in NYC while the rest of the city is afraid of crime and migrants”. If Senator Tuberville was really an informed and knowledgeable lawmaker he would know that Alabama, the State that he represents in the Senate, has a murder rate that is three times the rate of New York City. I wonder if this is a case of another Republican lying and giving misinformation in an attempt to weaken our nation or is he just a politician that doesn’t have a clue to the real problems that face the nation and the State he is suppose to represent. Maybe it would help if Tuberville actually lived in the State he is supposed to represent. If you believe the Washington Post he actually lives in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. I have been to Santa Rosa Beach and I have to admit it is beautiful there but that should not be an excuse for not living in the State you represent and not knowing the crime statistics of the State you are supposable representing. We have a lot of problems in this Country and our President eating ice cream in New York is not one of them. We need problem solvers and not troublemakers in our Congress and I hate to say this but, the third Senator from the State of Florida is more of a problem than the solution.
I am a big believer in the truth and I don’t like to be lied to. I also don’t like the games that too many politicians play. Tommy Tuberville, to me, is not a very honest man that plays too many political games while not solving any problems. Tommy Tuberville is sometimes called a Christian Nationalist. He was known to force his religion on his Football teams even though they were public institutions. He has also come under fire for his racist comments and for his defense of White Nationalists. His own brother has disassociated himself from Tommy because of the hateful things he has said. Too many try and hide their hate and fascism behind their religion and I think that fits Tommy to a tee. Jesus said “let he who has never sinned throw the first stone”. Tommy Tuberville throws so many stones that I think he is going to need “Tommy John” surgery on his throwing arm.
The more that I read about the Christian Nationalist’s movement the more I think that it is not a real religion at all. Just because they call themselves Christians, do I think that they believe in Jesus? In fact I don’t see where they follow the teachings of Jesus at all. Certain sects of Christian Nationalists subscribe to the so-called Dominion theory, which is to conquer what are called the “seven mountains” or seven areas of Influence. Those areas are family, religion, education, media, entertainment, business and government. They believe once they do, that will trigger the second coming of Christ. You see they have created their own prophecy and this is a prophecy that does not have anything to do with the teachings of Jesus that most of us learned in Sunday Schools. It is seen nowhere in the Bible let alone the gospel. This is a prophecy that would take everyone’s freedoms and everyone’s liberties away from everybody including everyone’s freedom of religion or from religion. It is a religion that will be spread by suppression and violence.
Lauren Boebert describes herself as a born again Christian. I will say this, she doesn’t act like any of the Christians that I grew up with. My understanding is that Jesus sacrificed his life for our sins but if you listen to Boebert talk she say something different. She stated that Jesus had been killed by the Romans because he didn’t have enough assault rifles “to keep his government from killing him.” She has stated that “she is tired of the separation of church and state”. She stated that “the government is not supposed to direct the church” saying that dividing religion from the system of government was not what the Founding Fathers intended. England had the Church of England that was headed by the King, the separation of church and state was exactly what the Founding Fathers wanted because one national religion does not bring about liberty and freedom. She has talked about family values while groping her date at the musical Beetlejuice. Her family is a mess, not because of family values but, because of a lack of traditional family values. Her oldest son impregnated a 15 year old girl. That same son has been arrested on multiple charges of breaking into cars and stealing including credit cards and using them illegally. He robbed a 74 year old woman with a brain tumor of her last 75 dollars. I don’t even have to spend talking about the son’s alleged sex tape. Boebert is a woman to me doesn’t have a clue of what is right or wrong. In all honesty I think that she is more aligned with the White Nationalist movement than anything else. If you will notice I didn’t call them the White Christian National movement because there is nothing Christian about them. They hide their violence and hatred behind a Church built on a man of love and sacrifice. It would be more proper to call them the White anti-Christian Movement than anything else because they don’t follow the teachings of Jesus.
I will always remember that it was the so called White Christian Nationalists that killed over six and a half million people, mostly Jews in the Concentration camps in Europe. Back then they were called Nazi and Fascist. Like today they twisted the words of Jesus to justify the terror that they unleashed on the world. I wouldn’t be surprised if many back then thought that Hitler was sent by God just like we hear that Trump is sent by God. The Nazi’s used the church to kill, taking lives and not saving them. Look at the situation of a Tran’s student that was bullied and beaten in school, who is now dead. It doesn’t matter if he died from an overdose or from the beating because it was the bulling that killed that child. They may as well just stoned the kid in the public square which is against the teachings of Jesus. The media does not call out these groups as the hate groups that they are and legitimate Churches do not condemn these anti-Christ groups that pervert his teaching. The Church has let issues that were never mentioned by Jesus to define who is Christian and who is not. I once believed that faith was a blessing that I had not yet received. Now I am glad that it is not a curse that I have to live with.
The only sentiments I have in addition to yours are that these fascists claiming to be Christians are disobeying the commandment that orders God's name not to be used in vain and that their calling themselves Christians is Blasphemy. I no longer call myself a Christian because they have soiled the name of Christ. I'm a deeply dissapointed agnostic who has lost faith and has observed the descent of the current evangelical church as an evil and corrupt institution hellbent on domination and fascist theocracy.
ReplyDeleteI’m a Christian but no longer use Evangelical although every chance I get I try to remind these people of the heart of Jesus.
DeleteSo true.
ReplyDeleteWe're not really sure that Jesus was a 'thing':

Well, isn’t that convenient. There are no atheists in fox holes.
DeleteWanna bet on that foxhole comment?
DeleteThis is an excellent essay. Very to the point. The politico-religious right wing needs to pipe down.
ReplyDeleteSo many excellent points! I’m glad I read it. HOWEVER, please, please please will you learn to use apostrophes. ‘s is the possessive. Now, s’ is for the plural possessive. The plural , meaning more than one of a thing uses the s without adding the ‘. gives us the basic plural.
ReplyDeleteThank you for confirming that. I have been doing it correctly all these years.
DeleteI agree with all of your comment. I am not a native English speaker but the incorrect apostrophes bugged me, especially because the article is indeed very well written, and I agree with it whole-heartedly.
