I keep hearing how Biden is ruining America. I keep hearing that but I never heard what he is doing to ruin America. To say such a bold statement as that and not back it up with facts and figures just makes that statement sounds like a political lie. I was not the biggest Biden fan when he started to run for office. I was one of the old guys that thought that we needed younger blood and younger ideas. I was one of those who thought my generation had its time and it was now time to turn things over to the next generation. I am still of that mind but I am also of the mind that we must do everything necessary to preserve our Democracy for the future generation of this country. I really think that Biden has shared that same goal. He is working to save our democracy. I have four grandchildren and may actually live long enough to see great-grandchildren. The future is theirs, I have had my time.

I am pretty sure that the people that are saying that Biden is ruining America are not the 80 million people that voted for him. He has really tried to live up to his campaign promises. He has delivered on some pretty impressive accomplishments. He has taken on our crumbling infrastructure that has been ignored for generations. He has tried to advance our rural areas of the country with 21^st century technology. Our rural communities have always been our backbone but have also been our most ignored areas because in a lot of cases they contribute more than they take. Both the Democrats and the Republicans have always taken them for granted. I will say that Biden has not. To my surprise Biden has tried to work with the Republicans from those rural areas and states. Many Republicans are campaigning on, and taking credit for programs and infrastructure improvements Biden delivered on but were actually voted against by most of the Republicans. Biden has tried to unify the country that too many Republicans want to keep divided. Biden knows that only through unity can America stay strong and too many Republicans really do not want a strong America. Having a strong military and having a strong country are two different things. After 9/11 we were a very unified country and it was that unity that made us strong at home but it also made us strong on the eyes of the world. We no longer look strong in the eyes of the world and Trump and the Republicans did that.

For 3 years I have been hearing that Biden is ruining the economy and I scratch my head trying to figure out what they mean. There is a thing called the Misery Index which is the number that you have when you add the unemployment number and the inflation number together. In April of 2020 under Trump the Misery Index was 15.03. Yes, we had Covid and yes, I know that it was much of the reason we had such huge problems but that number represents the economy the Biden inherited. By February of 2024 the Misery Index is 6.79. You have to go all the way back to Reagan to see as large of an improvement on the Misery Index where Reagan went from 19.33 to 7.70. The same Republicans that are calling Biden’s economy a disaster are the ones that were saying how great things were under Reagan. Numbers don’t lie and if you are going to be honest you are going to have to admit that Biden has done a good job with what he inherited. When Covid decimated much of the world’s greatest economies you could tell that many of the administrations around the world were not prepared for it. It was that lack of preparation, that lack of a plan that probably was the biggest problem. Obama tried to establish a plan but everything that Obama tried to accomplish Trump tried to erase. Building something up is much harder than tearing it down and Trump really wanted to tear down everything that Obama did including our pandemic response. Repairing that damage that Trump helped create because of his hatred for Obama has been Biden’s biggest challenge. It is hard to build something strong when so many are trying to tear it down.

Biden said that he would try and work with everyone and work with everyone he has tried. Dwayne Johnson (aka the Rock) said on Fox News that we could not endorse Biden because Biden divided the country. I was appalled by what he said. Biden has really tried to work with Republicans. The Democrats and the Republicans in the Senate worked together to come up with a bipartisan plan to secure our border that Biden supported. The Republican led House won’t even bring in to the floor for debate. Why? Because Trump told them not to. Trump wants to be able to campaign on it as a failure of Biden’s when the failure should rest on the shoulders of Trump. Our border crisis, if you want to call it a crisis, is the making of the Republicans and Trump and no matter what Biden does it will not satisfy the Republicans. That is why there can be no bipartisan solution. If you read the Constitution you will see that it is Congress’ job to create the laws. Our border crisis is a failure of Congress. I suppose Biden could write some executive order but that does not excuse Congress from not doing its job. That is why there can be no unity. Dwayne Johnson can spout his mouth off all he wants to but that does not make it the truth.

Division has been a serious problem for quite some time. Nothing represents the division of the country as much as the police. Don’t get me wrong. There are a bunch of Police that have served their communities with honor and I am a supporter of those brave individuals. Some have sacrificed all for the benefit of their communities and deserve to be honored. Then there are some that have an us or them attitude. That is an attitude that is meant to divide our communities. The people are not the enemies of the police. The people are who the police are to protect and serve. The police have sworn an oath to defend the Constitution and the rights that the Constitution gives every individual. That is the same oath that Donald Trump did not uphold.  There is a group of Sheriff and Police Chiefs in Michigan that stood behind Donald Trump and endorsed him for President. Trump is a man that sent the mob to the Capitol that attacked the brave policeman whose job was to protect that Capitol. As Trump watched it unfold on TV he did nothing to protect those Capitol Police. Over 100 Officers were injured and Trump did nothing. Now Trump says that he will pardon all of those people that attacked the police on January 6th. After all Trump has done to weaken and divide our nation those Police Chiefs and Sheriff would endorse a man that if elected would put criminals that attacked the police back on the streets.  I will never understand that.
