When it comes to a Republican controlled House of Representatives history has a way of repeating itself. In 2016 all we heard from the House was Hillary Clinton and Benghazi, and Hillary Clinton’s missing email. It seemed that all the Republicans in the House did was go after Hillary. In 2016 the pit bull for the Republicans in Congress was Jim Jordan. All there was for a while in the news was Benghazi. They spent millions and to her credit Hillary spent hours testifying. Nothing came of the Benghazi Congressional investigation but it did serve its purpose which was to make Hillary Clinton look like she was not competent enough to be President of the United States of America.  . I would say Republicans accomplished what they set out to do.

During that same time Congress and just about every Republican were talking about Hillary’s missing emails. James Comey, the head of the FBI, opened and closed the email investigations more than once. In July of 2016 he closed the investigation stating that there wasn’t enough there to say that Hillary broke the law. Just 11 days before the election he stated that he was opening it again.  Then, after a few days he again closed the investigation saying there wasn’t enough there. No one will ever convince me that was not election interference by the Republican Party by applying pressure to Comey who was a member of the Party.

Now we come to 2024 and we have pretty much the same situation. We have a Republican controlled House and all they are trying to do is go after our sitting President. Some of the players are different than 2016 but the strategy is the same. They are wasting time and money to go after the Democrat that is running for President. Jim Jordan is again leading the charge with the help of Representative James Comer and the Speaker of the House Johnson running point for them. Biden was held in disposition about some classified documents he discovered and turned them over voluntarily. Let me repeat that. Biden discovered some documents that He voluntarily returned them. Now the only way anyone would have known was by Biden about the documents was by owning up to the mistake. Well, you would have thought Biden had 22 boxes sitting in a bathroom at his private club where lots of people had access to them. Biden had to sit through an interview by the Justice Department and of course they found it to be pretty much a non-issue. The agent that did the interview of course had to inject something that was not part of the investigation and that was what he thought was Biden’s mental state which had nothing to do with the investigation.   The agent wasn’t even qualified to do an evaluation but put it in the report anyway. Again, the DOJ agent was a member of the Republican Party. The interview was taped but the Attorney General has refused to turn over the video to the House Judiciary Committee, namely Jim Jordan. The Attorney General has refused which I think he should. Congress has the transcript of the whole interview, why would they want the video? I think it is to try to embarrass our President during an election. To put it another way the House is trying to use the Judiciary Committee’s power of subpoena to influence and interfere with an election. The Republican House has tried to hold the Attorney General in Contempt of Congress but the Department of Justice is not biting on that. Speaker Johnson is now threatening to go to court to try and force the tapes to be released. What a waste of our time and money. They even started an Impeachment inquiry even though they could not find any evidence of a crime that Biden had committed. That is using the power of the Congress to interfere in our elections.

In my 70 years on this planet I have never seen a political party go after a President’s son the way the Republicans have gone after Hunter Biden. I wrote on that with my last posting so I won’t spend a lot of time on it but, “come on man”. They showed nude pictures of the President’s son on the floor of Congress that were supposedly on a laptop, that was supposedly his, that Rudy Giuliani of all people had and copied the hard drive. That is what I would call personal information that no one had any right to show anyone. That was just plain wrong. If he broke that law, fine, he should go through the courts but to be dragged through the mud by Congress just to embarrass the President? I am sorry but it shouldn’t have ever happened. I have never seen a Democrat do that, ever. That is worse than what the Republicans did to Bill Clinton. Yes, Bill Clinton lied to Congress and should have been impeached but to display the semen stained dress was a little too much for me. In fact the whole investigation started as the Whitewater investigation, and when they couldn’t get anything there they expanded it to the alleged sexual indiscretions in the Oval Office which by the way, were not illegal. They were meant to embarrass the sitting President. The illegal part came from lying about them during an investigation that in my opinion should not have ever happened in the first place.

You can say what about what is happening to Trump? Trump is not being investigated by the Democratic Party. Multiple Grand Juries determined there was enough evidence to charge Trump with a number of crimes in New York, Georgia, Florida and Washington D.C. There are multiple reasons why the investigations have stretched into the election year with one of them being the stalling tactics by Trump’s own defense team. Before Trump announced his bid for the Presidency he knew he was under all these investigations. I feel that Trump’s running for President is just an effort by him to try and escape justice. You can point at the Impeachment inquiry and subsequent Impeachment trails, there was evidence that was presented that a crime was committed and the January 6^th committee was a bi-partisan committee. You may not like the Republicans that sat on the committee but they were Republicans. 

Let’s see what Congress should be doing instead of working so hard to embarrass a sitting President. We have three branches of government. They are the Legislative Branch that writes legislation, the Executive Branch that approves legislation, and the Judicial Branch that deems if that legislation is legal. The House of Representatives and the Senate are the Legislative Branch of the Government. Instead of working so hard to embarrass our President their job should be to write legislation that will help solve the problems our country. They are failing at what their real job is. The Senate came up with a bi-partisan agreement on our southern border. They sent that bill to the House of Representatives who under the instructions from former President and now Felon Donald Trump the House will not even bring it up for debate. Their solution is to have President Biden write an Executive Order instead so they can continue to say that Biden is running open borders. The people that don’t want to solve the “border crisis”, if that is what you want to call it, is the Republican members of House of Representatives, Speaker Johnson and much of the Republican Party. It is their job to come up with legislation to solve problems and they have refused to do their job. A President should not be writing executive orders because Congress does not want to do their job.
