One of the problems I don’t understand is our justice system and how it is perceived by the public. One thing that I see is not all felons are treated the same. I have a friend who is a felon who spent time in jail many years ago. He paid his so called debt to society a long time ago but it seems like he is treated like his debt will never be totally paid because he still has to jump through hoops when it comes to just living his life. There are some portions of society who will think once you are a criminal you will always be a criminal. Then there is Donald Trump. I have seen people threaten to sue even if we call him a felon. Trump and his followers seem to wear his conviction as a badge of courage. Donald Trump had an affair with a porn star, Stormy Daniels who testified under oath she had the affair with Donald Trump and, she was paid off to be quiet. What Trump was accused of was taking part in an illegal conspiracy to undermine the integrity of the 2016 presidential election and the unlawful plan to suppress negative information, which included concealing the hush money payment to an adult film star Stormy Daniels. Trump was tried by a jury that found him guilty in accordance with our laws and in accordance with the Constitution that he had sworn to protect. Trump hasn’t even been sentenced yet, he hasn’t even started to pay his debt to society and he is not only able to run for President but there is actually a chance that he could win. My friend is treated like his debt will never be paid and Trump is being treated he will never have to pay his. As it turns out Stormy Daniels is not the only women that Trump has paid off to be quiet. Trump still has some 57 felony charges against him from 3 different locations but he is treated differently and that just isn’t right.

What has happened to our Justice System? It may take a person smarter than me but if it does, that alone is a problem. Our Justice system should not be so complicated that the average person can’t understand it. Justice should, and is supposed to be, based on a simple concept of right and wrong and what is right and wrong by our Constitution. The problem is what is right and what is wrong is being clouded today. Money is what clouds it. Has money always clouded it? I don’t know. Ronald Reagan, Mr. Conservative and the Father of our present day Republicans nominated Sandra Day O’Connor to the Supreme Court who at the time was considered a moderate conservative. By today’s standards she would be considered almost a liberal.  What she wound up being, in my opinion, was one of the best Supreme Court Justices in the history of the bench. She was presented the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Democratic President Barak Obama.  That makes me think of what conservative is now versus what conservative was back then. I personally feel that some of views of Reagan and before him Goldwater look pretty liberal compared to what is considered a conservative today.

I go back to the search for right and wrong. District Court Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the document suit against Donald Trump not because Trump didn’t commit a crime. She didn’t dismiss it because there was not enough evidence that Trump committed a crime she dismissed it because she ruled they shouldn’t have appointed a Special Prosecutor.  She wasn’t looking out for right or wrong. She wasn’t looking for justice. She was trying to exploit what she thinks is a loophole in the law so she can let the man who appointed her to the bench off the hook. Right or wrong, the Constitution, national security, and real justice had nothing to do with her decision. It was purely distorting the courts so justice would not be served. Her decision has been appealed but she has done great harm to how the world views our Judicial System. She done great harm to how I view our justice system.

Every election both parties like to make themselves out to be the party of law and order. This election there is a stark difference between the two. The Democratic Candidate Kamala Harris is a former Prosecutor. The Republican Donald Trump candidate is a convicted felon. He also has something like 57 charges pending in three different locations.  The Republican candidate has been talking about how our streets are unsafe because of the Democrats. How he and only he can make us all safer. He doesn’t state any statistics to support his claims. He talks about terrorist pouring over our borders but offers no statistics or proof. His talk is cheap and cheap talk weakens the nation. The statistics are out there but it is up to us to know if he is telling the truth or lying. When I fact check the Republicans I see that they are mostly lying when it comes to crime. The numbers are out there such as Alabama is much more violent than New York. The information is there but I am sorry, if a man wants to be President you shouldn’t have to fact check him because the most important thing to him should be the truth. Trump has not demonstrated to me that he cares about the truth. He should be presenting the facts and the statistics to back up his claims. You don’t get that from not only Trump but from the Republican Party. The Democratic candidate Vice President Harris has a proven track record working for law and order. She has a right to talk about it because she has walked the walk. Democrats don’t want to enable criminals they just want to have justice applied fairly. Is that possible? Hell, I don’t know but we have to keep on trying.

Justice has to start at the top and not at the bottom. We need to get the criminals out of politics. We need to get rid of Judges that are being bought. We need make bribery illegal again. It is the money that is making it so that real law and order will not be a reality in America.

  2. why do folks with your perspective feel the need to give the "i'm an independent" disclaimer? where is it you meaningfully diverge from the establishment left ? do i understand correctly that what you perceive issues within the justice system due to seeing too many people treat your friend and Trump differently despite them both having received convictions? Donald Trump is running for president, to you an injustice, and your friend faces hardship and adversity as a result of the judgement people pass on him, another injustice! the system and my political opponents are to blame! the cognative dissonance is real!

This is my continued search on whether Trump has the Character to be President. A person I know stated “His character matters bc it is in the character I believe he has the leadership, knowledge, wisdom, experience, compassion, integrity that will lead us on the path towards a more safe, secure, healthy, prosperous, free world than the direction we are headed.” My last blog looked at his character as integrity from a legal standpoint before he even was elected President. This drastically changes what the election will look like. Instead of two old white guys facing one another we will have a woman that is 19 years younger than the Republican nominee Donald Trump.
