My last two postings have been whether Trump has the character to be President. An anonymous person replied to my last posting hoping that I would look into whether Kamala Harris had the character to be President. Trump's entire life has been an open book or maybe better put a movie made for television. I swear he has lived his life that all news was good news. Scandals didn’t seem to bother him because they made him more famous. In fact it was the scandals and his pompous lifestyle that made him famous in my opinion. He was exactly what he wanted to be, a rich celebrity with a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. To delve into Kamala Harris’s character may be a little harder just because she hasn’t lived her life as a Reality TV star.

The first question I asked was if Kamala Harris ever been charged with a felony. That came up with a big zero. She has been a crime fighter and not a law breaker. Trump has been found guilty of 35 felonies with many more pending so I’d say that she has Trump on that one. In my search I do see many articles with people saying she is too soft on crime. I see many articles with people saying that being too hard on crime is and is part of the problem when it comes to mass incarcerations in America. The United States has the highest prison population per capita in the world if I have read that right. As a country I don’t think we are soft on crime but that may be another issue to discuss in a later posting.    

The next question that I asked was if Kamala Harris ever had an affair during her marriage. Again that was a big no! There are a ton of articles about her husband Doug Emhoff having an affair when married to his first wife Kerstin with a teacher at the private school they sent their children to. It happened when they were already separated. This was before Kamala was in the picture and was something her future husband didn’t hide. When Vance made his cat lady remarks because Kamala Harris had never had any children of her own Kirsten issued a statement “For over ten years, since Cole and Ella were teenagers, Kamala has been co-parenting with Doug and I. She is loving, nurturing. Fiercely protective, and alway present.” Being a stepmother can be a very challenging situation. My own wife of 37 years has been a stepmother to my two sons. I have gotten to witness the powerful and positive influence a stepmother can bring not only to the children but also to the grandchildren now in the case of my family. It looks like Kamala is a saint when you compare her to Trump. 

Now, it has been claimed that Kamala Harris has slept her way to the top. First of all I want to say that is a disgusting thing to say about any woman and is an attempt to dehumanize them. Her personal life while she was single was none of our business anymore than yours, mine, or even Trump's personal life while single as long as we were not breaking the law like committing sexual assault. For the record in the 1990 she dated briefly Willie Brown, the former mayor of SanFransico who was separated from his wife in 1982 and Kamala was single. They were not sneaking around and it was a very public relationship. This would be a non-issue if she was a man and it should be a non-issue for a woman. There was a picture circulating on social media of Montel Willams posing between two women. One of those two women was Kamala and it has been insinuated that she was Montel’s side piece. The picture was taken in 2001 as everyone was arriving at the annual “Race to Erase MS” in Los Angeles. The other woman in the picture was Montel’s daughter. Yes, Kamala and Montel dated briefly over 20 years ago but as Montel says “So What”. Both were single at the time and of course Kamala dated. To make this into a story says more about you than it does about Kamala that is for sure. Another thing I will note is this was a charity event to help Erase MS. Can you imagine Trump being at such an event?   What I learned was she ran for office and she won. District Attorney, Attorney General, Senator, and Vice President. She campaigned and she won those elections. That is not sleeping her way to the top. To say it is just another assault on women in general and Kamala Harris specifically.. 

The fact that she came out in support of the Black Lives Matter protests has been made a big deal by some. Well, so did I come out in favor of Black Lives Matters. Being a person of color she should. Me being White should also. You watch things like the Floyd killing, you can’t help but not understand there is a problem with the way people of color are treated almost subhuman by some police officers. The Tyreek Hill traffic incident in Miami shows we have a long way to go. She asked people to donate to help bail out protestors.I don’t know if that was the smartest thing to do but there were a lot of innocent people that were arrested that shouldn’t have been that needed help. It is not illegal to protest injustices in this country. It just seems to me that if a Black protests it is treated differently than if a White protests. Blacks in general are treated differently in this country. Some may hold it against her for supporting her race. Some will say that all lives matter. I say if you can’t say  Black lives matter, all lives really don’t matter to you. 

I have read that Kamala Harris was too tough on crime, that she went after the criminals with too much zeal. Gee, a Democrat too tough on crime. I have read she will be too soft on crime. That is not what the record shows but you know that there will be people that will say that about any Women District Attorney. I have heard and read because she is a woman she would be too intimidated to deal with the Putins of the word. Well, when she debated Trump she sure didn’t act like she was intimidated by tough guy Donald Trump. The self-called alpha male. She started the evening out by walking over and shook his hand and never backed down all evening. 

I do believe that she has the character to be the President of the United States. She has a ton of experience and the confidence to do a good job. She has the type of integrity, honesty, and compassion that is what I think is very rare in politics. ‘When it comes to having more Character than Donald Trump? Kamala Harris wins that hand down. To say otherwise you are only lying to yourself and the world.
