America First. Looks like people really don’t know what that means. Today there is a feud in   the Republican Party about the visa program that is being used, in many instances, to bring in immigrants to work in the more technical fields. Musk is all in favor in bringing in these well-educated Immigrants to work here in America. To many that is just what MAGA is all about, stopping people coming into our Country and taking all the high paying jobs. This was a real big issue in this campaign. The Make America Great Again Campaign was an anti-immigration platform going all the way back to 2016 with the first Trump campaign. Many Democrats and Independents such as myself had claimed that the whole campaign was based on Racism. Many times, I have written that the only things Trump brought to the table was Racism, Hatred, and Bigotry and now some of his supporters want him to pay up. The people that are taking our jobs are not the ones coming across the border, they are doing the work that no one wants to do. Many of the H-1B immigrants are actually taking the jobs that people actually want.  

There is a program called the H-1B visa program that was created to enable employers to hire skilled foreign workers, including fashion models and workers of distinguished merit and availability. Workers coming to the U. S. on a H-1B visa must have a bachelor’s degree and or special training. Employers must also fulfill obligations, including to pay foreign workers a fair wage and not displace U. S. employees. I looked up the H-1B program and there are some serious benefits. Foreign workers are allowed to live and work in the United States for as long as three years and can be extended to six years. Because it is a dual intent visa they can apply for a green care after coming to the US through the H-1B visa program. You may eventually even be able to become a citizen if you meet the requirements. Their spouse and any children under 21 can also come with them. You can even change employers as long as the new company files the proper paperwork.

My question is are they taking away American jobs? Many, including Trump, argue the people coming across the border are taking away good American jobs. That was one of his complaints he always raised when he said he wanted to close the border. If fact, he has screamed that they are taking away our jobs. I don’t know a single person that has lost his/her good paying job to an undocumented worker coming across the border. Those people generally are doing jobs the typical Americans don’t want to do. The question is, are the H-1B visa holders taking away jobs that our own college grads could be performing? Companies don’t have to open up the positions to American candidates before they bring in people from abroad using the H-1B program. It seems like the Republican party is trying to discourage people from going to college but then we are bringing college graduates from abroad?

Musk is stating that he is bringing in the top .1 percent engineering talent in the world making it sound like he is bringing in talent that just can’t be found in America. I think in a few cases that may be true but is it in all of them? What I worry about is the dumbing down of America is making it necessary to bring in foreign talent because we are no longer developing our own. What is being done so we will not be dependent on this foreign talent in the future. It almost seems like we are farming out our manufacturing but then we want to import our technical talent. It is fine to bring in the talent to keep us successful but what is being done to make it so we don’t have to?  What are we doing to make Americans successful. Are we working at building up our educational facilities around the nation? I think you already know the answer to that. I have no problem bringing in the best and the brightest from around the world as long as it is not at the expense of our educational system and of our own college graduates.

Is the situation being abused? You can bet your ass it is, and, by some of the people that are screaming that immigrants are taking our jobs. Trump owned companies have tried to import at least 1,100 foreign workers on temporary visas since 2000, according to data reviewed by Reuters. Most the applications were approved. Nine companies, majority owned by Trump, have sought to bring in foreign waitresses, cooks, vineyard workers and other laborers on temporary visas. Trump’s foreign talent hunt included applications for an assistant golf course superintendent, and assistant hotel manager and a banquet manager. Two companies, the Trump Model Management and the Trump Management Group LLC, has sought visas for nearly 250 foreign fashion models the records show. You cannot tell me that there are not 250 beautiful American women that can’t fill those jobs. Trump’s luxury resort Mar-a-Lago has sought to bring in 787 works since 2006 to be cooks, servers and hotel staff. Trump is not bringing rocket scientists to work his resorts and pretty much every one of the jobs probably could have been filled by an American worker. This seems pretty hypocritical by a man that is giving American jobs away to foreigners while wanting to end immigration claiming that immigrants are taking away our jobs. Trump’s own wife came here on a tourist visa and after she was here, she obtained a H-1B visa so she could pursue a modeling career.  Weren’t there enough American women trying to find careers as models?

Musk has now stated that the Republicans need to get rid of the racists that oppose the H-1B visa program. Vivek has defended the program because the American Culture “has venerated mediocrity over excellence” leading to a nation that does “not produce the best engineers”. I think both men are saying that Americans are no longer capable of making America Great. What I see are men that want to take advantage of the system for the benefits of their profits. They would rather hire indentured servants than hard working Americans.

They ran on an anti-immigration platform. They have stated that they would deport immigrants that are even here legally like the Haitians were in Ohio. MAGA wants them to pay up. I see them rounding up poor people of Color and Hispanics from south of the border that have come here wanting to do those jobs that Americans don’t want to do but they closing their eyes to the people who may just be taking away really good paying American jobs. It was never about America first with Trump. It was always about Trump first then the hatred, racism and bigotry that he brought to the table with him.
