I always wonder what the Republicans stand for now? I don’t ask that question to get all the smart aleck comments. I really try and search for an answer. I know that if I asked a Trump supporter what a Democrat stood for all I would get was smart aleck comments. I really try and search for answers. They just insult because it is easier than actually searching for answers and finding solutions. When I started writing I thought that answers would be easier to find. I was wrong. What I have found out is that what I get mostly is more questions. I used to think of myself as a Republican. I have always like rules and I thought that for the most part the Republicans were the most disciplined of the two parties. I really did think of the Republicans as the party of law and order. I grew up thinking that the Republicans were the more fiscally conservative of the two parties. I thought that the Republicans were the thinking man’s party.

I have to admit that I have always been a little fiscally conservative. What I have discovered as I have gotten older is that what I think is fiscally conservative and what the Republican Party thinks a fiscally conservative are two different things. I have always thought that is, if you wanted to save money you cut spending. That is what I would do at home. The first thing that the Republicans do is cut taxes, create a deficit and then say we have to cut spending. To me that would be like me cutting my own wages, going in debt because of it, and then having to cut back on my spending. A person just wouldn’t run their household like that but that is how the Republicans do things. I remember when Scott Walker was elected Governor of Wisconsin he was left a surplus. The first thing he did was to give a tax break to his friends and creates a deficit. The next thing he did was to go after the public sector employees to make cuts to pay for the deficit that he created. That is how the Republicans do things. They create the deficit by cutting taxes then they want to cut services to pay for the deficit that they created. I am sorry but that is not being fiscally conservative. That is being fiscally irresponsible. It is like Robin Hood in reverse stealing from the poor and giving to the rich. I pay no attention to someone saying that Biden is raising taxes. If they get to the point where they are higher than taxes were the 50s I will say that he is raising taxes. Until then all I will say is that Biden is just trying to be fiscally responsible. Taxes are still much lower than when the country was prospering in the 50s.

The party of law and order I have begun to realize has always been a lie to get votes. Nixon was not a man that truly believed in law and order and he had to resign from office and be pardoned by Ford because him breaking the law. His Vice President was investigated while in office, was forced to resign and pleaded no contest to tax fraud and corruption. So no matter what you hear today yes Vice President and Presidents can be investigated. The entire Nixon administration is proof of that. Reagan and Bush and the Iran Contra affair is just mind boggling. Iran had held Americans hostage and there was an arms embargo against them. Senior Officials were illegally selling arms to Iran to help fund the Contra Rebels. If you believe in law and order let alone National Security you just don’t do those things. People went to jail but were later pardoned by Bush. Republicans treat those people like heroes. Traitors are not heroes in my book. Now we have Trump and he has made those guys look like boy scouts. I predict that 100 years from now we will still be discovering the damage that Trump has done to our nation. Just because a party says they support the badge does not mean the really do. You can’t say you support law enforcement when you are turning your back on the FBI and the Capitol Police. You can’t say you support law enforcement while justifying anything that Trump has done. With all of the Sheriff’s associations that support the Republicans and Trump do the Men in Blue actually support the Men in Blue?

Guns are another thing that confuses me. If everyone has a right to guns doesn’t that mean the bad guys have a right to guns too? You can say “oh no it doesn’t” but all you have to do is look at the results. Do know that people on terrorist list and no fly lists can purchase a gun in the United States. We can argue about the legality of this but to be honest the argument of a good guy with a gun has really gone out the window. I know I will get a lot of crackpot responses to this but I really don’t care. I am a gun owner that has always thought that I have a right to protect my home. I am not afraid that the government is going to make it so I can’t protect by home and my property. What is happening today is not home protection or State regulated militias. What he have a total chaos with no one offering any solutions.

After writing all this down I still cannot figure out what the Republicans really stand for. On the surface it looks like they stand for failure. Failure of our Democratic Republic and maybe the failure of our nation? Maybe that is what they are working for. Who benefits from the dummying down of America? An uneducated workforce does not bode well for us to maintaining any economic standing in the world let alone being a leader. You can’t tell me that Lauren Boebert or Marjorie Taylor Green is part of any thinking man’s party. You can’t tell me that Matt Gaetz or Donald Trump is part of any party that has real morals. What do Republicans stand for? One thing to know of is that they don’t stand for what Eisenhower stood for. They definitely are not my father’s political party.

  2. This is spot on how I feel - I was raised in a republican household - it was only as I got older that I really started to question things. I am still fiscally conservative - but I am no longer a republican. Watching Trump and his Maga nation SHRED our country has been hard - I fear for what is to come - it seems like we are on a track that is derailing.

  3. Everything you said is the exact truth. I am astonished at the lack of morals and acceptance of disinformation. I only hope good prevails and people wake up.

This is my continued search on whether Trump has the Character to be President. A person I know stated “His character matters bc it is in the character I believe he has the leadership, knowledge, wisdom, experience, compassion, integrity that will lead us on the path towards a more safe, secure, healthy, prosperous, free world than the direction we are headed.” My last blog looked at his character as integrity from a legal standpoint before he even was elected President. From a legal standpoint there is no way I would have thought he had the integrity to be President.   It is a new game but it is still being played just like the old one. Biden has chosen not to run for a 2 nd term and it looks like Kamala Harris will get the Democratic nomination. This drastically changes what the election will look like. Instead of two old white guys facing one another we will have a woman that is 19 years younger than the Republican nominee Donald Trump. Donald Trump went from saying Biden was too old and senile even though he was only three years younger than Biden to the old guy that appears to be too old and senile. Since Biden’s debate performance he had been under a considerable amount of pressure to drop out of the race. I have admitted in a past post when Biden came on stage he looked frail and in the beginning of the debate Trump’s tactics really confused Biden.
