I always wonder what the Republicans stand for now? I don’t ask that question to get all the smart aleck comments. I really try and search for an answer. I know that if I asked a Trump supporter what a Democrat stood for all I would get was smart aleck comments. I really try and search for answers. They just insult because it is easier than actually searching for answers and finding solutions. When I started writing I thought that answers would be easier to find. I was wrong. What I have found out is that what I get mostly is more questions. I used to think of myself as a Republican. I have always like rules and I thought that for the most part the Republicans were the most disciplined of the two parties. I really did think of the Republicans as the party of law and order. I grew up thinking that the Republicans were the more fiscally conservative of the two parties. I thought that the Republicans were the thinking man’s party.

I have to admit that I have always been a little fiscally conservative. What I have discovered as I have gotten older is that what I think is fiscally conservative and what the Republican Party thinks a fiscally conservative are two different things. I have always thought that is, if you wanted to save money you cut spending. That is what I would do at home. The first thing that the Republicans do is cut taxes, create a deficit and then say we have to cut spending. To me that would be like me cutting my own wages, going in debt because of it, and then having to cut back on my spending. A person just wouldn’t run their household like that but that is how the Republicans do things. I remember when Scott Walker was elected Governor of Wisconsin he was left a surplus. The first thing he did was to give a tax break to his friends and creates a deficit. The next thing he did was to go after the public sector employees to make cuts to pay for the deficit that he created. That is how the Republicans do things. They create the deficit by cutting taxes then they want to cut services to pay for the deficit that they created. I am sorry but that is not being fiscally conservative. That is being fiscally irresponsible. It is like Robin Hood in reverse stealing from the poor and giving to the rich. I pay no attention to someone saying that Biden is raising taxes. If they get to the point where they are higher than taxes were the 50s I will say that he is raising taxes. Until then all I will say is that Biden is just trying to be fiscally responsible. Taxes are still much lower than when the country was prospering in the 50s.

The party of law and order I have begun to realize has always been a lie to get votes. Nixon was not a man that truly believed in law and order and he had to resign from office and be pardoned by Ford because him breaking the law. His Vice President was investigated while in office, was forced to resign and pleaded no contest to tax fraud and corruption. So no matter what you hear today yes Vice President and Presidents can be investigated. The entire Nixon administration is proof of that. Reagan and Bush and the Iran Contra affair is just mind boggling. Iran had held Americans hostage and there was an arms embargo against them. Senior Officials were illegally selling arms to Iran to help fund the Contra Rebels. If you believe in law and order let alone National Security you just don’t do those things. People went to jail but were later pardoned by Bush. Republicans treat those people like heroes. Traitors are not heroes in my book. Now we have Trump and he has made those guys look like boy scouts. I predict that 100 years from now we will still be discovering the damage that Trump has done to our nation. Just because a party says they support the badge does not mean the really do. You can’t say you support law enforcement when you are turning your back on the FBI and the Capitol Police. You can’t say you support law enforcement while justifying anything that Trump has done. With all of the Sheriff’s associations that support the Republicans and Trump do the Men in Blue actually support the Men in Blue?

Guns are another thing that confuses me. If everyone has a right to guns doesn’t that mean the bad guys have a right to guns too? You can say “oh no it doesn’t” but all you have to do is look at the results. Do know that people on terrorist list and no fly lists can purchase a gun in the United States. We can argue about the legality of this but to be honest the argument of a good guy with a gun has really gone out the window. I know I will get a lot of crackpot responses to this but I really don’t care. I am a gun owner that has always thought that I have a right to protect my home. I am not afraid that the government is going to make it so I can’t protect by home and my property. What is happening today is not home protection or State regulated militias. What he have a total chaos with no one offering any solutions.

After writing all this down I still cannot figure out what the Republicans really stand for. On the surface it looks like they stand for failure. Failure of our Democratic Republic and maybe the failure of our nation? Maybe that is what they are working for. Who benefits from the dummying down of America? An uneducated workforce does not bode well for us to maintaining any economic standing in the world let alone being a leader. You can’t tell me that Lauren Boebert or Marjorie Taylor Green is part of any thinking man’s party. You can’t tell me that Matt Gaetz or Donald Trump is part of any party that has real morals. What do Republicans stand for? One thing to know of is that they don’t stand for what Eisenhower stood for. They definitely are not my father’s political party.

  1. Do know that people on terrorist list and no fly lists can purchase a gun in the United States. - that sentence should have a question mark at the end.

  2. This is spot on how I feel - I was raised in a republican household - it was only as I got older that I really started to question things. I am still fiscally conservative - but I am no longer a republican. Watching Trump and his Maga nation SHRED our country has been hard - I fear for what is to come - it seems like we are on a track that is derailing.

  3. Everything you said is the exact truth. I am astonished at the lack of morals and acceptance of disinformation. I only hope good prevails and people wake up.

Tommy Tuberville made a comment about Biden eating an ice cream cone in New York City. He posted on X that “Hope @JoeBiden enjoyed going out for ice cream in NYC while the rest of the city is afraid of crime and migrants”. If Senator Tuberville was really an informed and knowledgeable lawmaker he would know that Alabama, the State that he represents in the Senate, has a murder rate that is three times the rate of New York City. I wonder if this is a case of another Republican lying and giving misinformation in an attempt to weaken our nation or is he just a politician that doesn’t have a clue to the real problems that face the nation and the State he is suppose to represent. Maybe it would help if Tuberville actually lived in the State he is supposed to represent. If you believe the Washington Post he actually lives in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. I have been to Santa Rosa Beach and I have to admit it is beautiful there but that should not be an excuse for not living in the State you r
If I was a parent of a handicapped or developmentally disabled child I would be very nervous right now. If I was a parent of a Gay or Tran’s child I would be very nervous. Why? I think that we have a person running for the office of President that thinks that it is ok to mock people with disabilities. President Biden is a stutterer and he has worked hard to overcome that disability. That should be something that should be an inspiration to not only people with disabilities but to the entire nation. He is a man that has risen above his stuttering to achieve remarkable things. By Trump mocking Biden because of his stuttering he is sending a message to the entire country it is ok to bully other people just because they are different or have a disability. Now Biden is a grown man that has had to endure bullying like that all his life and he has come out probably stronger because of it. Not everyone is as strong as Biden. Biden is not the first person that Trump has insulted because a h
Trump’s oath of office, his lawyers are saying that Trump never took an oath to support the Constitution. Why would his lawyers say this? The reason is because the Presidential oath of office does not have the word “Support” in it. The Presidential oath uses the words “Preserve, Protect, and Defend” the Constitution. Why would the Presidential oath not use the word support? Could it be that the President is held to a higher standard than just support the Constitution? I have read that is the reason why that the words “Preserve, Protect and Defend” are used is to show the greater responsibility the President has to the Constitution. I think Trump’s lawyers want us to believe that Trump had less of a responsibility to our Constitution because the word “Support” is not in his oath. I think just the opposite; he had a stronger responsibility and failed at that responsibility, badly. Maybe that is because he never read the Constitution of the United States. Trump’s lawyers also say Sect
