I have written a few times about guns and the 2nd Amendment. I feel if you ask 10 people what the 2nd Amendment means to them you will get 10 different answers. Protect property and family is a popular one though words family or property are not in the Amendment. Some will tell you it was put there to put down a slave revolt and that is probably true. Another popular one is rebelling against a tyrannical government. Many like me feel that it is very antiquated and needs to be rethought if it still belongs in the Constitution at all.

One person stated that when the government is loading me into a boxcar I should be thankful that there are people with guns to stop them. Sometimes I think, thinking like that scares me and sometimes I just find it comical. When you rebel against the government who are you fighting? First, people, you are fighting is the police. When the Capitol was attacked there were people in the mob that thought their cause was so righteous that the Capitol Police would not do their job and not protect the Capitol.  In fact, there were people that thought the Capitol Police would help them. The Capitol Police did in fact do their job against overwhelming odds and helped save the lives of many members of Congress in my opinion. So what did we learn there? Well, the first people that you are going to have to rebel against is the police. You know those men and women in blue that people put signs in their yards stating that they support our men and women in blue. The police are the first line of defense against the anarchy that was January 6th   because they are part of the Government and it is their job. Of course if the police can’t handle it then who is called? The National Guard. You know those guys that train how to be real soldiers.

As I have written before and will probably write again during the Revolutionary War militias proved to be very ineffective. Because they were so ineffective a formation of a standing army was part of the Constitution. Yes the Constitution called for the creation of an Army for the defense of our Nation. In reality they created the very thing that some people claim the Second Amendment is for, the defense of the nation. The people who wrote the Constitution created the very thing that could protect the Government from attacks from foreign or domestic threats. Yes, the Army is part of our Government. Now to rebel against the Government that has command of a real Army, do you really think that they could be stopped by some local militia even if those local militias had assault weapons?  I would take a Bradley Troop Carrier over an AR15 any time.

Let me see now, the groups within our Government that you would have to rebel against and defeat, first would be the Police. Those guys and gals in blue that so many say that they support. Next the National Guard. Those trained soldiers that are not only part of our State defense but also part of our national defense. After the National Guard you would have to go against our Armed Services. Our Armed services are some of the most highly trained military personnel in the world. All of these groups have taken an oath to protect the country and Constitution from foreign and domestic threats. Their Commander and Chief is the President of the United States who is also taken an oath to defend and protect the Constitution. If the Country gets so bad that local militias have gotten past the police and the National Guard and are fighting the Army our democracy has already ended and there is nothing left to save.

I know that people will point to the Federalist papers as ways to justify the 2nd Amendment and militias. But, in all honesty when it is all said and done they establish a Standing Army knowing that the militias would not be able to stand up against. The standing Army was part of the Constitution before the Bill of Rights existed. You look at the Standing Army now which would be better called our Standing Military and there is no militia that could ever expect to stand against it. State sanctioned militias went the way of the Dodo bird with the creation of the National Guard. I have written that there were other reason the 2nd Amendment was added to the Constitution more that once so I am not going to explain them again. I will just leave a few links.

People who say we need arms to rebel against a tyrannical Government don’t even know what the Government is and what it really controls. They are just people that are promoting violence which just will mean more children that will be killed. They are in some cases Government officials and politicians that are lining their pockets from the gun lobby and from foreign countries that want the chaos to continue and weaken our Democracy. You guys screaming rebellion against our Government are not Patriots some of you are actually helping traitors weaken our nation. The only real revolution happens at the voting booth. That is why people work so hard to suppress the vote.

There’s a simple way to judge a country: look at whose lives it protects, and whose lives it’s willing to forget. For years now, we’ve heard the phrase “All Lives Matter.” It sounds fair. It sounds equal. It sounds like common sense. But a country doesn’t reveal its values through slogans. It reveals them through actions, through the lives it defends, the lives it ignores, and the lives it quietly pushes out of sight. And lately, America has been doing a whole lot of looking away. When Black Americans said they were being killed during traffic stops and routine encounters, the response from many leaders wasn’t concern; it was irritation. Instead of saying, “Let’s fix the problem so fewer people die,” we heard “Blue Lives Matter,” “Stop resisting,” and “BLM is a terrorist group.” A man died in a chokehold on camera. We all saw, from the beginning to the end. It was like a modern-day lynching. Millions marched peacefully. The answer from those in power was “law and order,” and “...
On Saturday, I was looking at Facebook and a person I was friends with, in fact, someone I went to High School with, posted something I knew was wrong. The post claimed that four lawmakers in Colorado decided jail time shouldn’t be mandatory for people who committed sexual assault of children. She claimed they were pedophile protectors. I opened up Perplexity and asked about the situation, and this is the reply I got back: You’re referring to a recent controversy in Colorado over a proposed bill that would change sentencing rules for certain sex crimes. Here are the verified facts to clarify what’s actually happening: • In early 2026, the Colorado House Judiciary Committee held a vote on a sentencing reform bill that aimed to give judges more discretion in certain felony cases. • Some lawmakers voted against an amendment that would have made mandatory prison sentences apply to all sex crimes, including child sexual assault, preferring instead to let judges determine sentences...
Dove or hawk? Donald Trump ran for President promising to end “endless wars”, avoid new ones, and put American families first. He cast himself as an outsider who would bring peace – the only candidate who wouldn’t drag America into another conflict. The message worked because let's face it, after so many years in Iraq and Afghanistan, America was tired of war. As a country, we were all tired of War. The country wanted stability, not another generation of men and women sent into danger. But once in office, he governed very differently. He governed like a Hawk, quick to threaten, quick to escalate, and willing to use both bombs and tariffs as weapons. What was missing wasn’t just consistency. It was an honor: the sense of responsibility and restraint that should come with the power to risk other people's sons and daughters. This isn’t about ideology. It's about whether someone who promised peace, but repeatedly chooses confrontation, can still claim to be a “dove”. A core...
