America First. Looks like people really don’t know what that means. Today there is a feud in     the Republican Party about the visa program that is being used, in many instances, to bring in immigrants to work in the more technical fields. Musk is all in favor in bringing in these well-educated Immigrants to work here in America. To many that is just what MAGA is all about, stopping people coming into our Country and taking all the high paying jobs. This was a real big issue in this campaign. The Make America Great Again Campaign was an anti-immigration platform going all the way back to 2016 with the first Trump campaign. Many Democrats and Independents such as myself had claimed that the whole campaign was based on Racism. Many times, I have written that the only things Trump brought to the table was Racism, Hatred, and Bigotry and now some of his supporters want him to pay up. The people that are taking our jobs are not the ones coming across the border, they are do...
I read a joke on the Internet that I thought was pretty funny. “Question: How many Trump supporters does it take to change a light bulb? Answer: None! All Trump has to do is tell them that it’s fixed and they will walk around in the dark.” That is how I think much of what Trump says is perceived as the truth when, if you looked closer you would know that it isn’t. We are now told that Greenland is very important to the security of our nation. There are a lot of things that are important to the security of the United States that are much more important than Greenland. There is an entire country and a whole lot of water and ice between us and Greenland. When you look at a map to me it looks like Greenland is closer to Scandinavia than it is to us. Economically it is closer aligned to Europe than us. In fact, I don’t think it is economically aligned at all with us. We don’t even have any direct flights to Greenland, you would have to fly to Iceland first. We didn’t have a consulate ...
Happy Holidays! Why would someone say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas? Could it just be that saying Happy Holidays is actually more appropriate than just saying Merry Christmas? Now don’t start yelling at me that I am taking “Christ out of Christmas” because I am not doing any such thing. The Holiday Season starts with Thanksgiving and for most of us ends New Years Day. The over month-long festival incorporates many holidays for where Christmas is just a part of it. It may be a big part of it for you but that doesn’t mean it is a big part for everyone. Don’t tell me “Jesus is the Reason for the Season” because this time of year has been celebrated for thousands of years around the entire world. What started this Holiday Season? I hate to be the one that tells you this but it wasn’t the birth of a child but it was the birth of a new year. The people that celebrated may not have measured time by years but maybe the seasons. This time of year, in the Northern Hemisphere,...
“Homeless is a lie” That is a quote from Elon Musk a man that is rich enough he could probably end world hunger. He also stated, “Its usually a propaganda word for violent drug addicts with severe mental illness.” This is from a man that has never had to experience any of the problems that causes homelessness.   He had also stated earlier that “A significant portion of so-called “homeless people” in American cities are clearly not sane in any meaningful sense of the word. The word “homeless is a lie, as it implies that all they’re missing is housing, as if they just got a little behind on their mortgage payments.” This is a man that looks at the homeless through the eyes of someone of privilege. This sounds like a man that doesn’t want to understand the problem of homelessness and would rather it just go away. We tend to think of this as just our own problems in the United States but the problem is much bigger. What are the reasons for Homelessness? According to Human...
To me we look like a government that can be bought. We have a Billionaire President that looks like he wants to fill his Cabinet and appointments with billionaires or relatives. This is what I have been afraid of since the rise of Trump. Nonelected billionaires deciding what is best for the country. I am afraid we are going to be ruled and not governed. When money rules, people are forgotten. Who elected Elon Musk to run the country? I don’t know of any ballot that had Musk’s name on it anywhere. Elon Musk in the richest man in the world. The way Musk is talking I don’t know who is going to run the country, Him or Trump. In Iowa he stated that he would be playing a big part in the primaries. This following week it was stated he may fund primary challengers against those who don’t support Trump’s appointees. In all honesty that is outright blackmail. Marjorie Taylor Greene the Republican Congresswoman for Georgia stated, Elon and Vivek talked about “having a naughty list and a nice li...
Sometimes I just have to vent. Why is it that whenever something that goes wrong in the world it is some Democratic President’s fault? It looks like Syria has fallen. Their President, Bashar Assad has fled the country. Trump took the opportunity to, of course, blame President Obama for not doing enough go help Syria during his time in office. What was Obama suppose to do? Was he supposed to help Assad gas more Syrian people because that was what he was doing? Assad, with the help of Russia and Putin ruled Syria with an iron fist. The United States was in Syria to help the Kurds fight ISIS when Assad was gassing people rebelling against his regime. Obama asked Congress for support to stop the gassing of civilians that Congress denied. It was the Russian support that helped Assaad remain in power up until now. When Trump took office, we were still in Syria battling ISIS and Assad was still gassing his own people. He talked tough about doing something about Assad but of course did n...
At times I get so confused. We seem to have had all these wars going on. Not real wars mind you but we still like to call them wars. We have had the “War on Poverty”. We have what Christian’s think is a “War Against Religion”. It seems that every social struggle we like to call a “War”. Of course, the granddaddy of them all was the War that Nixon started and that is the “War on Drugs”. The War in Vietnam started a counter culture in the 60s especially on our campuses around the entire nation.   Now it is unfair of me to say that the Vietnam War was the only thing that made the 60s, what some would say, explosive. We had the Cold War in full swing. We had President Johnson’s “Great Society”. We had Civil Rights and all the violence that came with the Civil Rights movement. We had a social revolution from what many would consider the counter culture of things like the Hippie Movement and alternative lifestyle. The 60s put the liberal into the mainstream conversation. From ou...
When Michigan and Ohio State play a football game you know it will be a hard-fought battle. The 2024 contest was what we expected from those two programs. Though I am not a fan of either team I am a college football fan and appreciate a good rivalry game. This year's game was supposed to be an Ohio State blowout. Michigan was unranked at 6 and 5 and Ohio State was among the top teams at 10 and 1. The experts can talk all they want but the game is actually played on the field and, in this case the experts were wrong. The 19-point underdog Michigan was victorious.  Even though it was a great game what everyone will be talking about is what happened after the game. The visiting Michigan team, after the game, of course, celebrated their hard-fought victory and Ohio State seemed a little stunned. During the post-game celebration, a Michigan player was running around, waving a big Michigan flag. The news reports said the Michigan player tried to plant the flag at midfield but I watched t...
