I Could Be Wrong.

  In the last few days I have taken drives over to Matlacha, Pine Island, Ft. Myers Beach and Sanibel. The cleanup is ongoing but it will take a long time. FEMA is working around the clock but because this in DeSantis’s Florida you don’t hear about them much. Everywhere you look there are blue tarped roofs waiting for their turn to be repaired. I hear that ours is supposed to start in December but I am not holding my breath. I am pretty sure that roofers are in great demand right now. Luckily for us we are now heading into our dry season so we shouldn’t be getting a ton of rain. Everywhere you look there is just so much devastation that the new norm will be way different than what we were used too. You try and live your life as normal as you can but the devastation and what we all have gone through is always in the back of your mind.   The two subjects that I have written about the most since I started my blog has been guns and racism. When I write about those two subjects it seems that people really shy away from the discussion. What makes people so uncomfortable talking about race or guns? These are conversations that we have to have daily, not just every once in a while. If a person tells a lie often enough people begin to believe that lie as the truth. We have to be reinforcing the truth everyday so people know what the truth is. The truth is that the two things that will rip America apart in Racism and Guns and to me that is the truth. In the last couple of weeks we have had a couple more mass killings in this country. We are getting to the point where other countries are posting warnings about coming to America because of all the violence here.   Who would have thought that education would be a threat to our existence? Certainly not me. Mike Pompeo, Donald Trump’s former Secretary of State, thinks that the most dangerous person in the World is the head of the of the Teacher’s Union. Mike Pompeo speaking at the Jewish Coalition Annual Leadership meeting on Nov. 18 th stated that that the most dangerous person in the world is the President of the American Federation of Teachers, President Randi Weingarten. Personally, I think that is a very surprising and dangerous statement. With all the violence and school shootings he puts a bull’s eye right on the backs of our Teachers.   This week is Thanksgiving week. It is one of those holidays that has lost a lot of meaning because of the woke mentality that is today. I will ask is that a bad thing? A lot of people well say “yes”. I am not one of them. Knowing the truth does not change that thought that is of Thanksgiving. The Pilgrims were very lucky to have the Native American there to assist them. The first Winter was a disaster in America for the Pilgrims. Half the settlers died from malnutrition and inadequate housing. It was the Native Americans that taught the Pilgrims to plant corn, how to hunt, and where to fish. Let’s face it without the Native Americans the Pilgrims may not have survived. The first Thanksgiving was the Pilgrims sharing a harvest feast with the Native Americans as a way of thanking them.   I read where Evangelicals are now saying that Trump used them. That one made me laugh but also made me angry. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to know that all along. He was asked what his favorite Bible verse was. He couldn’t quote a one. I would be willing to bet he didn’t even know what books that were referred to as the Gospel. You could tell he never even picked up a bible to read. The fact that he was willing to autograph one like an author should very disturbing to every Christian but it isn’t. Some of those Bibles are being auctioned off for over 30,000 dollars. He used the evangelicals for the purpose of continuing that grift that he was some great religious person set by God to save America. This was a man that had cheated on all three of his wives.   Trump has announced another run at the White House. The announcement didn’t surprise me but I was still disappointed. We have just finished an election, in fact, not all the results are even known. The public needs a break from the constant campaigning and I was hoping that we would be getting that for at least a few months. Trump’s brand took a big hit with the elections and I think that attendance at his “grifting” rallies was down. Also, I feel that he is feeling the crunch from all of the investigations going on around him and about him. There is a saying that a good defense is a good offense. It has been exposed that his defense is in shambles so now he must feel that he needs to go on the offensive. He also was being made irrelevant by the main stream Republican Party and he wants to take the party back. By announcing his candidacy now he will be able to call all those investigations “political witch hunts”. He has no real defense so he goes on the offense to try and affect...

  Why does it seem to take so long before the results of an election is announced? Why is counting votes taking so long? Those are two very good questions like many in this nation including myself are trying to figure out. I can tell you that there is probably not one definite answer. More early voting? More mail in voting? More military voting? The closeness of the elections? I have always wondered why every State is not working under the same set of rules when it comes to national elections. The time when votes can be counted is different in some states. Not being able to start counting absentee or mail in votes until after the polls close. The more early voters there are and the more mail in ballots there are the longer it is going to take for the results to come out because of the verification process.   I was reading a person’s writing on Facebook and about our rising sea levels. He was stating that the seas were 300 feet higher than they were before the first Ice Age. He also stated that it was a natural phenomenon that has continually happen throughout Earth’s history. This statement of course is true, kind of; climate change, rising seas, and Ice Ages has happened naturally throughout the history of the Earth, the problem that I have with that statement is that he didn’t research the reasons why climate change or Ice Age happen. He just grabbed onto a statement that he saw to justify his argument against man’s effect on the climate and our rising seas. There is a reason why things happen, even naturally, and that is the job of scientists to research. That is what a huge part of science is, the discovery of the truth.   I hear the word Freedom thrown around a lot. Whether it is Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley screaming it on stage or from Ron DeSantis calling Florida the free state of Florida the Republicans are always talking about Freedom. That is the problem. It is all talk. Freedom is a powerful word that should mean and say the same thing to everyone, not just Republicans. The real problem is that Freedom is an overused and very hallow word when it is screams by a person like Ted Cruz or Josh Hawley. The word really has no meaning to them. They just scream it to get votes. What I believe they are screaming really is privilege, White privilege, because that is who they are trying to attract. What DeSantis is talking about I really don’t have a clue and I live here in Florida. Freedom is a very important word to me and it should not be used just to get votes.   Florida has another Hurricane barreling down on it. This time it is Nicole. Most of us know that climate change is real, over 99 percent of the Scientist tell us it is. Florida also just had an election. Guess who won? The people that do not take climate change seriously. I have written before that one of the definitions of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. I have to say that we have a lot of voters in Florida that are just nuts. Climate change should be the number one issue. Why isn’t it? It cost the people of Florida and the Country billions and billions of dollars but we would rather talk about the price of eggs at the grocery store or the price on gas at the pump.   The reasons I vote are many but one thing that I vote for is the truth. Climate change is real and the people that say the science is not there are not telling the truth. The science is there and if you want to see a preview of the havoc Climate Change is going to bring just do what I did. Take a drive through Fort Myers Beach and have a look. Look at the devastation. The science is there but the eye test is even more important.   Shrimp boats do not belong in Mobile Home Parks. Fort Myers Beach, Florida.   This is how divided a nation we are. Paul Pelosi was attacked by a man with a hammer in his home. He was not the intended victim of the attack. His wife, Nancy Pelosi the Speaker on the House, was the intended victim. The man was willing to wait for Madame Speaker to get home so he could “kneecap” her with that hammer. Her husband was tricky enough to get a call out to the police and when the police arrived the attacker then attacked Paul Pelosi. The attack was so severe that he required surgery for a busted skull. An attack like this on anyone is just horrendous but we have lost sight of what really was happening. This was another planned attack on our Government. The intended victim was the person that is 2 nd in line to the Presidency, the Speaker of the House.   We have an election next week that may just be the most important election in my lifetime. Didn’t I say that for the last election? Why are these elections so damn important now? Have they always been this important? Maybe they were but we just didn’t realize it at the time. Back in 2000 we had an election and a close one at that. Do you think that maybe there would be a million Iraqi’s alive now if Gore would have won instead of Bush? I had more faith in the public back then to do the right thing than I do now because of that election. Why? Maybe it’s because of those one million dead Iraqi’s.
